It was an amazing stay. The onsen is clean and spacious. Rooms are spacious too for Japan. The lighting is on point. Water pressure in the shower is great and loved the scent of their hotel bath gels and shampoo. There are water filters to refill water and small washers/dryers at several floors.

The biggest advantage of Hotel Gajoen Tokyo is definitely its location. Beyond its prime spot in the city center, there's a direct walkway from the hotel's third floor straight to Takashimaya. You can walk along the green passage into the mall, turn a corner, and be at Din Tai Fung – it's incredibly convenient. This stay, I specifically booked a corner room to experience the lounge. The room was spacious, and the bathroom had a great four-piece layout. The large windows let in plenty of light, and catching a glimpse of the beautiful Higashiyama scenery in the distance was a pleasant surprise. The lounge is also on the third floor, so after browsing Takashimaya, it was lovely to just tap my card, go in, and relax with a drink. The breakfast selection wasn't huge, but most items were high quality. I ate there for three days and didn't get bored. The ham, salmon, and homemade yogurt sauce were all excellent, and the latte was delicious too. Furthermore, the cleanliness of this popular hotel exceeded my expectations. Daily housekeeping was impeccable, and they didn't compromise on standards under the guise of being eco-friendly, which I really appreciated. Huge thanks to the staff.

The location is great, nestled between Hankyu Shijo-Omiya and Karasuma, making it easy to walk to both. This is super convenient for getting between Osaka Umeda and Kyoto Kawaramachi. Plus, there's a Shijo-Horikawa bus stop right downstairs that goes to Kyoto Station. Overall, it's very convenient, and the facilities are complete, including a thoughtful luggage storage service! Excellent value for money.

The biggest drawback was the size of the room for the price we paid. We could not even open our suitcases on the floor. There is no water in your room, you have to go downstairs to have a drink of water. Do not have breakfast there, it's too expensive (if you cannot eat everything) . There is a supermarket (LIFE) a few meters away with a very nice bakery. The hotel do however have all the toiletries available next to reception counter. Also coffee in the mornings from 6.30am with water and juice. A sauna and a hot pool, but you have to be in your *************. Not suitable for everyone. I enjoyed our bathroom the most, as the shower was amazing.

The location is super convenient. After exiting Amanohashidate Station, it's less than a 5-minute walk to the inn. The inn itself is clean and tidy. We stayed in a Japanese-Western style room, which was spacious with two beds, and even offered a lake view from the window – a truly tranquil setting. The public bath was very clean, and the toiletries were excellent; I even bought their exclusive Tabi Biyori facial cleanser. The only downside was the lack of a milk vending machine. After a bath, I really wanted to buy a bottled milk, but there was none available. We stayed for two nights and booked Kaiseki cuisine for one night and Western food for the other. Surprisingly, the Western meal was a pleasant surprise! Breakfast was a decent Western and Japanese buffet. In summary, the location is fantastic, making it very convenient to visit Kasamatsu Park, Viewland, and Ine. It's definitely worth coming back to stay here again.

This was probably the best hotel I stayed at in Japan. It felt incredibly clean — guests must remove their shoes at the entrance and store them in the shoe cabinets, so everyone walks around in socks. Breakfast was impressive, with a wide selection of Japanese and Western dishes and even matcha latte. The onsen was outstanding: there were at least four pools, so it never felt crowded, plenty of shower cubicles, and a steam room with a TV. After each onsen session we could enjoy free ice cream or ice lollies and a bowl of ramen. The rooms blend modern design with traditional tatami style. The beds were firm and very comfortable, and although our room was on the smaller side (typical for Japan), it had everything we needed. We were also treated to POLA hair and body products in the bathroom and the onsen. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and can’t wait to return next time I’m in town.

It is located next to the train station, which is very convenient, and it is only 20 minutes from Tokyo. Surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants, but you can feel the local vibes here. The check-in is quick and pleasant, as you can expect from the Japanese service. The room came with breakfast and access to the Onsen, but I didn't have the chance to use it. There are laundry machines available on the lobby floor. Breakfast is nice and delicious, but seating may be limited. The staff are nice and welcoming.

The room was smaller than expected but still in a good size. I spent some time on the balcony and really enjoyed it. However, it became quite dark at night as there was no light there. The onsen was clean and wonderful, and the staff were super nice. The bonus point was a 7-Eleven right in front of the hotel! I will definitely come back if I visit Kyoto again.

The lobby makes a strong first impression with its tasteful, contemporary design—very much in line with what seasoned travelers appreciate after a long journey. Location-wise, the hotel is a solid choice. Being close to the train station and surrounded by local food options made getting around and finding good meals effortless. That said, the 5pm check-in time is noticeably later than usual and can be inconvenient if you arrive early. I passed the time at the restaurant and bar next to the lobby, taking advantage of their Happy Hour, which helped. A nice touch was the self-service luggage storage area—practical and traveler-friendly. I stayed in a corner room. The room itself was fine: clean, functional, and simple, as expected of many Japanese hotels. The view, however, was unremarkable. I also tried the public bath. It was reasonably sized and, thankfully, not too crowded during my visit, making it a relaxing experience. Service was a bit cool at first, though it improved as the stay went on. Overall, I would consider returning, especially when traveling as a couple.

🛏️ Room Size: I stayed here with my family of five, and the room was much more spacious than I expected. The layout was very well organized, with different areas clearly divided. Everything looked exactly like the pictures. 📍 Location: The hotel is very close to the central Gion area, which is very convenient. It’s about a 5-minute walk to the train station, so not far at all. There are convenience stores along the way, which made everything even easier. 🧺 Amenities: The amenities were very complete. There was a washing machine and dryer, and even laundry detergent was provided. Although I had to run the dryer twice for the clothes to be fully dry, it was still very convenient. The kitchen was fully equipped with cookware, dishes, and a kettle, even though I didn’t try using the stove. ⚠️ Recommendation: There are two hotels with the same name located close to each other, so be careful not to go to the wrong one. 👃 Downside: Since the hotel is next to a restaurant, when I entered the room there was a strong grilled fish smell coming in from the window. Even though the room had an air purifier, it didn’t really help with the smell.

IiamnotdelicateThe basic room type isn't in the main building; you have to walk up to the main building each time to have breakfast or soak in the onsen (hot spring). And it's not a real onsen; my friend's superior room was the real onsen. We were given a small room at the back of the hotel, but thankfully there weren't too many graves. When I asked the staff at the entrance to take photos for me, they were very reluctant and had a sour face. At night, on my way back to my room from my friend's, the receptionist on duty in the lobby was also very rude. Overall, I was dissatisfied with the service. The facilities are excellent, very new, and the hotel is quite small, but that's typical for Japanese hotels. The decor is also very nice; the aesthetics are on point. There are at least three cemeteries and a bunch of shrines nearby; bring some amulets if you like.

IIRADAThough the hotel itself is good (I’m staying here for a second time), this time the service was awful.1) went to breakfast, me and my friend ordered 2 dishes, when in 20 mins time there still was nothing, we reminded a waitress of our order… another 20 mins - still nothing. All in all we spent 40 mins at the breakfast restaurant and didn’t get our food. When we explained this to the hostess she just said “sorry” and we left the restaurant hungry. 2) ordered afternoon tea for 3 persons (afternoon tea is served at another restaurant at the hotel). 2 normal sets and 1 for a person who doesn’t like dairy products. That person is me. I explained that I have no allergy, I just don’t like the taste of milk, cheese, et cetera. So I’m fine with bread and with sweets, just not the ones that have cheese on top. In the end instead of the sweets they brought me a fruit platter (that’s all, my friends got a lot of different sweets), when I again explained to the hostess that I’m fine with sweets (sweet bread) and would like to eat the sweets included in the afternoon tea set she just said that they “prepared smth else” for me (she meant the fruit platter). No apology no anything. Mind you, I ordered afternoon tea last year at this same place - everything was alright! As this is a 5 star hotel and everything here is rather expensive (including breakfast and afternoon tea) this is unacceptable level if service.

GGuest UserI absolutely adored the Mitsui Garden Hotel Premier Kyoto. First off, the hotel's design is stunning; both the restaurant and lobby offer breathtaking views of the central garden through floor-to-ceiling windows, where branches sway gracefully in the breeze – it's simply beautiful. Secondly, I was thoroughly impressed by the in-room washing machine, the Refa hairdryer, and the showerhead! I truly hope I can stay here every time I visit Kyoto in the future.

GGuest UserThe price doubles and goes up. I have stayed in this hotel many times. It always feels good. I came here again after many years and felt that the overall service and the quality of the food in the hotel were much worse. In particular, the service may be understaffed during the peak season, but it is indeed a very good hotel. Be sure not to make any mistakes when booking a hotel, otherwise he will be unkind and only care about money!

AAnonymous UserOur recent stay at Ujo Soan was, without exaggeration, the finest hospitality experience I have encountered in my 20 years of traveling across Japan. From the moment we arrived, the level of service was nothing short of superb. There are three highlights that made our stay truly unforgettable: 1. Exceptional Culinary Surprise: We were deeply touched by the hotel's generosity in providing a complimentary upgrade to the prestigious ”Tsuiyama Blue Label Crab” set. The quality of the crab and the meticulous preparation were world-class—a true gastronomic journey. 2. Breathtaking Sunset Views: Spending time at the Lounge ”AO” on the 8th floor of Bettei Fuka was a spiritual experience. Watching the sunset over the Kyotango coastline with a drink in hand is a memory we will cherish forever. 3. Outstanding Service (Sakura-san): A special mention must go to Sakura-san. Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail were exemplary. She anticipated our every need and represents the very best of Japanese Omotenashi. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to Mr. Yasuhiko Okita and the General Manager, Mr. Nakanishi, for maintaining such an incredible standard of excellence. If you are looking for a sanctuary that combines luxury, nature, and heartfelt service, Ujo Soan is the only choice. We cannot wait to return.
