Statue on a high pedestal
Original Text
While strolling around the ruins of Hamada Castle, I saw this statue in the precincts of Gokoku Shrine. This statue was on a very high pedestal and I found out that it was built as a prewar hero. The figure with a trumpet in one hand and a bayonet in the other hand was very brave, and I felt that it was a statue representing the militaristic era of the time.
It is a statue of Kodaira Kiguchi, who was regarded as a hero in Japan before the war. It is located in the precincts of Hamada Gokoku Shrine on the ruins of Hamada Castle and is quite large. Kiguchi died in the Sino Japanese War, but he continued to blow the advance trumpet even if he received a bullet, and did not break the attitude to blow after his death. A statue was built in this place after the infantry belonging to Kiguchi was based in Hamada.
It is located in the precincts of Hamada Gokoku Shrine on the site of Hamada Castle.

A statue of Shohei Kiguchi in the precincts of Hamada Gokoku Shrine on the ruins of Hamada Castle. A soldier who did not leave the trumpet even when he was sluggish during the Sino Japanese War. It seems that there is a statue in this place because the place where the regiment I belonged to was Hamada. It is one of the statues that symbolize the military era.
Kodaira Kiguchi, who is familiar with prewar textbooks. It seems that he was told as a good story because he did not let go of the trumpet even if he died in the war. It is located in Gokoku Shrine in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture.
