very enjoyable production, though maybe recommend get an english audio guide to help you understand the storyline, which we failed to do so. Beautiful puppet craftmanship, songs, music, etc.
The performance content is farm life, and its soundtrack is traditional music, so it is easier to sleep 💤 There are colleagues who sleep directly. Our group has been asleep ㄧ Half 😂 But the show master is really hard to wear a raincoat and shoes to soak in the water. The performance 👍🏻 is really admirable. We saw it on the 2nd floor, and it was not big
The water puppet play is the national essence of Vietnam. There are large and small water puppet theaters in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The representative one is the Shenglong water puppet theater in central Hanoi. It is located easily on Huanjian Lake. There are fixed performance times every day, you can buy the venue in advance, so you can choose to enjoy the better seats, and the price of the ticket is reasonable.
A great show to see in Hanoi. I recommend getting the audio guide if you can’t understand Vietnamese. All the speaking is in Vietnamese.
it is amazing entertainment. i love to come back and have more time there. Awsome.
My husband and I attended a late afternoon performance on January 20, 2016. We were prepared to be bored and irritated at wasting our time. Instead, this was absolutely fascinating! The story behind the water puppets (begun 1,000 years ago) is charming. The puppets are so well handled that we did not know, until the end, who was "pulling their strings." The only drawback was the audience -- lots of people holding up their phones and iPads to record everything and flashes going off; such behaviors should be prohibited. If you have the chance, purchase some of the puppets for sale in the lobby; they make great gifts! And they are very reasonable.
After many times visiting Hanoi, I finally managed to watch the water puppet show. There are five shows in a day and the ticket is reasonably priced. It is worth watching as it gives you a glimpse of Vietnam culture, and I have to say it is well done. The people behind the scene appeared at the stage (in the water) towards the end of the show. The group of singers and musicians were also visible at the stage. Well done!
