The Tabatabaei mansion was built around 1880 and is known for its intricate reliefs, fine plaster decorations and beautiful mirrors and stained glass. All residential areas surround four courtyards, the largest of which has a fountain. We arrived at around 3pm, and the room with stained glass on the right hand side of the entrance was bathed in the bright sunlight, intoxicating. Be sure to walk up the steps of the second floor of iwan to enjoy the exquisite reliefs up close, and then indulge in the wonderland of countless mirror decorations.
