Original Text
It is called (Higashikorokan). A facility mainly for entertaining foreign envoys of guests in Bohai. In Heiankyo, East and West Korokan was built on the left and right across Suzaku Oji on the north side of Rajomon, but it seems that it moved to this area of Shichijohoku with the establishment of East and West City during the Kojin era (810 ~ 24).
It is located just in the middle of the 1 minute walk from Shimabara Sumiyoshi Shrine and 1 minutes walk from the Kakuya Hospitality Cultural Museum. It is an inconspicuous ruin with only the stone monument and its explanation.
The site of the building built in the Shimabara district of Kyoto as a place to entertain diplomatic envoys from China in the Heian period. Originally, there were Korokan and Nishi Korokan. This stone monument is built in the place where the Higashi Korokan was located.
It's a guest house now. It was built in the Heian period as a guest house for Bohai (dedicated) missions located on the coast of the Sea of Japan from the northern Korean Peninsula to Russia. At the beginning, Tsushima Strait-> Hakata route, but there is a distance, and I came to Japan on a course leading directly southeast of the Sea of Japan to Noto. Only the stone monument remains today, and it is unknown what kind of building it is.
There was a stone monument and an information board next to the Tsukuya in Shimabara. It was used as a guest house for Bohai facilities during the Heian period. After a long time, we are now entering a quiet time.
