Nice museum with a great view
Very modern inside. Most of the signs were Japanese only, but it was still possible to figure out the gist of the displays (we were one non-speaker and one beginner-speaker). Especially liked the ex...
Good little museum wtih great views of town and mountains
This is a small museum which has great exhibits about the flora and fauna of the Japanese northern alps. Great view of the alps and Omachi town from the museum. The museum is a vigorous 40 minute walk...
This place has various names depending on the information source, Trip Advisor calls it Omachi Mountain Museum, the museum itself calls it the Ohmachi Alpine Museum, the street signs call it Sangaku ...
It is a museum with exhibits centered on mountain relations on the hillside of Higashiyama in Omachi City. You can also know the geology, creatures, etc. of the Northern Alps 々 in detail, and you can know its origin. In addition, the zoo is home to valuable Japanese thunderbirds and Japanese antelope, and we are also working on research and growth as endangered animals.
It is a museum with historical and folk exhibitions about natural science and mountain climbing, mainly about the Northern Alps. It's not a big facility, but it's a good place where the curators' thoughts can be conveyed. I'm sure children will be happy. In particular, regarding mountain climbing, I frankly took up not only the bright history but also the negative parts, and I felt that I could understand the feelings of mountain climbers. You need to apply to enter the reference room in the annex, but it was a valuable place with many unique things.
