Zhangshiyi Former Residence

There are paddy fields in front of Zhang Shiyi's former residence and mountains and forests in the back, and the environment is quite elegant. The house was built during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, more than 200 years ago. The plaques such as "Xi Dynasty Renrui" and "Xingjukuiwen" all indicate the glory that this big house once had. The former residence is magnificent in scale and exquisite in craftsmanship. It is also one of the few large houses in Wenzhou, but its name is not very loud. Zhang Shiyi was named because he was ranked eleventh. Zhang's house in Qianping was built in the eighth year of Qianlong (1743), and was later rebuilt by his father Zhang Rihua in the last year of Qianlong. Zhang's house has three entrances and five halls, 44 rooms, and there are more than 360 pillars alone. Built along the central axis, there are five gate towers in front, back, left and right, and a courtyard can be shared outside the gate. The structure is both elegant and practical. The doors, windows, beams, and walls are all exquisitely carved.
