[Xiata Ancient City] also known as Xiat Ancient City, located in the border between China and Kazakhstan in Zhaosu County, Yili Prefecture, Xinjiang, 57 kilometers southwest of Zhaosu County, 19 kilometers south of Xiata Township, north of the Turks River, east of the tributary of the Xiata River. The age of the ancient city of Xiata may have arrived in the Tang Dynasty early, and there are still activities in the late Mengyuan period. This ancient site is a large and well preserved historical and cultural site in the Turks River Basin, which is of great value to the study of the history of economic and cultural exchanges and political and military development in the ancient Yili area. In 2013, the ancient city of Xiata was listed by the State Council as the seventh batch of key national cultural relics protection units.
