Bern - a small city with rich history
#2023travelwish
Visit the Old Town of Bern, which is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site - Explore the old city by foot is the best way to enjoy the city.
Some free things to do -
1. The Zytglogge (Clock Tower) has one of the must-watch performances that strikes at four minutes before the hour. Be there slightly early if you want to get a good spot.
2. The old bear pit / new bear park is interesting as you can see the bears roaming around freely or taking a dip in the water.
3. The Cathedral of Bern is the tallest cathedral in Switzerland. Look out for some interesting details like the stained-glass windows, the invaluable set of bells, or the sandstone masterpiece that depicts the Last Judgement. In for a physical challenge? You can climb up to reach the viewing deck which given you the wonderful panorama from the Old City to the peaks of the Bernese Oberland (oh, you've got to pay for a ticket for this challenge)
I wish to revisit Switzerland during the autumn or winter season!

Now known as the Zytglogge (Clock Tower), it began telling time for the inhabitants of Bern. As the official timekeeper, its location could not be more central and from then on, the locals listened for it to strike the hours. The park's commitment to ethical practices fosters a positive visitor experience, creating awareness about wildlife conservation. The Bern Bear Park stands as a model for responsible animal tourism, blending education and advocacy to provide an enriching encounter with bears in a humane and scenic setting.

The bear is a symbol of the city, and Bern is a "bear" in German. At the beginning of the city, the ruler of the town, the Duke of Chalingen, decided to name the city with the first prey captured. Therefore, the bear established the symbol of Bernier.
Xiongyuan is located on the side of the Nidige Bridge and passes through the bridge and begins to enter the old town of Bernier.
The park is home to bears that symbolize Bern. In fact, Xiongyuan is not a zoo that is generally imagined. It is just a wall surrounded by several bears. The bears are free to move around. There is no entrance and no tickets. The cute bears, especially the bears, attract many tourists to stop. Visit. There are only a maximum of 5 bears to be accommodated here. Each bear receives about 4 kilograms of food per day, including food for tourists. Visitors can buy feed to feed these bears.

Dancing with the Lake and Mountain: A 4-day 3-night Travel Guide to Switzerland
Hello, travel enthusiasts, today I am here to share my 4-day 3-night essence itinerary in Switzerland. After reading this article, I believe you will definitely not get lost when traveling in Switzerland! 💖
First of all, planning the idea of traveling to Switzerland is very important! My suggestion is to choose the mountain you mainly want to go to (First/Jungfrau), the lake you want to play (Brienz/Thun), the small town you want to see (Grindelwald/Longjiang/Lauterbrunnen/Spiez), and then look at the tickets for Zurich and Geneva, and then make the route in and out of Switzerland.
Day1️⃣: London✈️➡️Geneva
Depart in the morning and fly to Geneva. It takes about 40 minutes to queue when entering the country. However, you can vaguely see the continuous snow-capped mountains in the distance at the airport, which makes me very excited! So, I took the bus directly to the United Nations Palace of Nations. 🇺🇳
Seeing the national flags of various countries at the entrance of the Palace of Nations, I really had some real feelings about the legendary United Nations. If you want to visit, you can make an appointment in advance. There are also the famous broken leg wooden chair and the international anti-landmine sign at the door, which is worth a look!
Then, we took the train to Bern. This section of the train route follows Lake Geneva, and the glimpse of the lake and mountains on the train brought a very shocking experience to the British who had never seen snow-capped mountains. 🚄
In Bern, the city named after the bear, we mainly went to the clock tower and the Rose Garden (Rosengarten). The Rose Garden needs to climb a few minutes on the hillside, and the town is very beautiful overlooking the river. 🐻
After the train, we arrived in Grindelwald. Just in time for the sunset in the evening, the slope under the setting sun is really a fairy tale into reality. 🏔️
This is my first three stops in Switzerland, and I will continue to introduce the following itinerary in the next article! I hope my sharing can help you. 💕
Bern, low-key to the unspeakable Swiss capital
Bern's low-key, so that it has a unique charm, you can sometimes linger in the old town's alleys, and sometimes in the rose garden overlooking the panoramic view of the old city. The old town of Bern is listed as a World Heritage Site. There are slabs of stone on the road. There is a fountain every three or five steps, and the red tram passing by is the whole city. Even the peoples entertainment is rich and varied. It is called the "City of Fountains", and the total number of large and small fountains in the city exceeds 100.
stands in the Capitol on the Are River, with its tall beams and green domes, revealing the Italian Renaissance style.
the old clock tower, there will be small dolls coming out to mark the hour. As the capital, Bern maintains an ancient atmosphere, stone roads spread over the city, and each time there is a unique fountain. Its a leisurely and chic city, and its a pleasure to stroll through the small streets of Berns Old Town.
Rose Garden
Along the main street of the old city, you can walk to the river. After crossing the bridge, follow the signs of the Rose Garden and walk up to the top to reach the commanding heights of Bern, overlooking the entire old town.
Rose Garden, in fact, not to see the roses, but to look at the beauty of the entire old town of Bern, walk up the mountain, look at the sunset or the sun under the sun, beautiful! There is also a famous rose garden restaurant on the top of the hill where you can enjoy the view while watching the sunset, but you need to book in advance.

Discovering the Bern trip: Can't miss historical museums.
Many shops in European countries shorten their business hours on weekends, and some small shops may not even open. In Bern, which happened to be a weekend, after window shopping for a while, I found a very nice place to go: the Bern Historical Museum.
👍 Recommended rating: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
📍Detailed address: No. 6 Museum Street, 3005 Bern, Switzerland.
The Bern Historical Museum is located in the center of Bern, Switzerland, and is one of the most representative historical museums in Switzerland. The museum building has a long history, originally built in 1894 to showcase Swiss history and culture. The building is a Renaissance-style architecture, with an elegant exterior and a massive collection of precious historical artifacts displayed inside.
The museum displays over 5000 exhibits with Swiss history as the main theme, including natural history, archaeology, culture, and art. These exhibits cover all historical periods from the Stone Age to modern times. The museum uses modern technology in its exhibits, such as interactive displays and a cinema, to showcase historical events and cultural landscapes.
The Bern Historical Museum also has some special exhibitions, such as showcasing furniture, decorations, and clothing from different regions of Switzerland, as well as exhibiting artifacts and artworks related to the history of Bern city.
The museum is very large, it is recommended to plan for an afternoon. It is very suitable to bring children.
Nice visit and great understanding of the history.
The guides are awesome.
