The ruins of the sacred tree in Alishan after the 3000-year-old burning of the sacred tree is located next to the Shenmu station of the small forest train. Now, red cypress saplings have been planted in situ to inherit the spirit that symbolizes the eternal life of the sacred tree in Alishan. A giant red cypress tree over 3,000 years old on Alishan was discovered in 1906. The tree has a circumference of 25 meters and a height of 50 meters. It is regarded as the sacred tree of Alishan. In 1914, the whole line of Alishan Forest Railway was opened to traffic, among which the towering sacred tree of Alishan and the scenery of the forest train that needs to pass are almost the spiritual symbol of Alishan, and have become a famous landmark in Taiwan both at home and abroad. It was a pity that it was burned in two lightning strikes in the fifties and dumped on the railway in 1997. After listening to the opinions of experts and the public, the authorities arranged to bring the sacred tree back to nature, and planted red cypress saplings on the spot to inherit the spirit that symbolizes the eternal life of the sacred tree in Alishan.
