A rock by the roadside was covered with a layer of colorful moss, like someone had accidentally spilled a palette of paint, creating an abstract painting on the gray rock. I crouched down and gently touched the velvety texture with my fingers. The subtle touch struck my heart, allowing me to feel the sedimentation of time. This moss had probably grown here for years, even decades. Unhurried and patient, it silently covered the rock, transforming ugliness into beauty. Just moments before, I had been complaining about how slowly time was passing, but now, looking at this moss, I realized how ignorant my complaints had been. On this journey, in my haste, I had become impatient and restless. But in this one touch, I felt healed. It taught me patience, how to accumulate beauty during long waits. This inner peace was worth all the anxiety I had endured, making me more composed on this long journey, and more able to appreciate the beauty that takes time to reveal. This layer of colorful moss was the most patient teacher on this journey.
