aq15****: The rooms in the old city, the stairs are narrow and steep, suitable for a small amount of luggage, otherwise it is too terrible. The room is still good, but the service attitude is too reduced. There is a problem when you check in. You can’t answer the phone and send an email. Trip.com also helped to contact, but I couldn’t contact it. Later, I found out that the staff (maybe the owner) lived next door.

CoLLinZ: Perhaps ten years ago, this would have been considered a four-star hotel, but nowadays the facilities feel quite outdated and no longer live up to that standard. That said, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good, and the room was clean. The only downside was that the overall atmosphere felt a bit dark and claustrophobic.

HammalAmiri: The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quite clean and newly refurbished however there were too many basic errors and design choices / management choices that are not up to the level of the other 5 star hotels in Riga. The mini bar was ridiculously expensive I mean 2 or 3 times as much as other hotels in the city and they had the nerve to charge me for a drink I don’t consume. They have apologised since and I’m waiting on a refund. The tiny tub if almonds were listed for 14 euros for example. No hooks in the bathroom for clothes, no shower screen on the bath, limited buffet options for breakfast but decent Al a carte options, furniture in room not comfortable, no proper wardrobe, rug in the room but covered by the bed, no teapots or large mugs for tea. My advice is only stay if the rate is about 1/2 of the other 5 star hotels in Riga.

Great gym I really have one issue - swimming pool and spa will be free only if you book superior room or higher level. It will be better to mention this before booking but not during checking the spa

Gülhant: I really enjoyed my stay here. The location is absolutely perfect — right behind the House of the Blackheads, making it very easy to explore Riga’s Old Town on foot. The area felt safe and comfortable, which was especially important to me as a solo traveler. The room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was simple but sufficient. Being so close to the main sights made exploring Riga very convenient. Overall, a comfortable, clean and well-located hotel in the heart of the Old Town. 🇱🇻✨

AnjaKownatzki: The front desk team is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are lovely and spacious. Due to a spontaneous extension, I moved to a room in the annex, which I liked even better. This second room was also cleaner. Although there's no elevator in the annex, I would try to get a room there on my next visit. The breakfast at the restaurant across the street is ample, but there are many other options nearby that I would prefer. I'd happily come back again.

Guest User: Great hotel location, just outside the Old Town (Vecrīga) but still within the 'new' city center (Centrs). Excellent breakfast and the staff were kind and well-presented. The spa is small but very functional and perfect for a relaxing moment. They even have lockers with digital locks so you don't have to worry about your belongings. Highly recommended!

#myhiddengems I’ll share with you my spots for perfect pictures in Riga, the capital of Latvia. It is definitely worth to visit during summer time to get great weather and don’t spend much money 1. GO BUCK WILD IN OLD TOWN Out of all the picturesque things to do in Riga, walking around in Old Town takes the cake. Everywhere you turn, there are colorful shop fronts, intricate architecture and tiny streets. It's picture perfect overload, and overwhelment is inevitable. Prepare accordingly. 2. RIDE TO THE TOP OF ST. PETER'S CHURCH Not gonna lie, this is probably going to be your most expensive pic of the trip. It costs €9 to ride the elevator to the top of St. Peter's Church but it's a small price to pay for having the best photo on your friends' feeds and the best view of the city (but who cares about the latter.. am I right?). Circle around the tower for a 360° view of Riga and see everything from the Freedom Tower to the Central Market and of course, Old Town. PRO TIP: Visit just before the sun goes down for the the best light and hopefully a beautiful sunset backdrop. 3. WALK DOWN ALBERTA IELA Riga is known to have the finest collection of Art Nouveau buildings in the world. To get the most bang for your buck, head to Albert Street 4. TAKE A STROLL THROUGH VERMANES GARDEN I'm not usually the type to seek out parks when I travel but Vermanes Garden was especially beautiful. You can sit on the dock, walk along tree-lined paths, or even rent a small boat. 5. GET COZY AT ASPARA TEA HOUSE Apsara Tea House has the right ingredients for a perfect Instagram picture: 1. tea/coffee 2. floor pillows 3. a chandelier. The tea house also has floor to ceiling windows and is located right on the river which gives you a great backdrop.

Kraków’s Main Market Square is a great place to start, especially with its cafés and historic buildings. Walk through Wrocław’s Old Town to spot its charming little gnome statues, then visit Gdańsk’s waterfront, where colorful merchant houses line the river. Each city has its own personality. 🇱🇻 Latvia Latvia is a lovely choice for travelers who enjoy historic streets and a relaxed atmosphere. Riga Old Town is full of medieval charm, while the city’s Art Nouveau district has some seriously impressive architecture. For a change of scenery, head to Jūrmala, a seaside town known for its sandy beaches and wooden houses surrounded by pine trees. 🇷🇴 Romania Romania has a mix of mountain scenery and storybook towns. Brașov is a beautiful base for exploring Transylvania, while Sighișoara feels like stepping into a medieval postcard. If you love castles, Peleș Castle is worth the trip for its ornate interiors and forested mountain setting. My fourth stop on my Nordic and Baltic states trip was Lithuania! 🇱🇹✨ I visited the capital, Vilnius, and Kaunas, Lithuania's second-largest city. 🚃 Vilnius's Old Town is filled with beautiful buildings in cream and pastel colors, and many lovely churches. 🏛️ It had a different atmosphere from Tallinn and Riga, and it was interesting to compare the architecture and streetscapes of the three countries as I walked around! I also explored the unique Užupis Republic. 🌿 In Kaunas, I visited the Chiune Sugihara Memorial Museum. It was a memorable place where I could feel the historical connection between Japan and Lithuania. Lithuanian cuisine was another highlight! I enjoyed dishes rarely seen in Japan, such as the vibrant pink chilled soup, Šaltibaršijai 🥣💕 I also enjoyed browsing markets and supermarkets, looking at bread, sweets, and fruits 🛒🍓 I was particularly impressed by how readily available berries, especially raspberries, were! Look up to see the woman holding three golden stars representing Latvia’s historic regions. 📍 Esplanāde Park – A lovely green space with a particularly unusual attraction: a tree covered in colourful little birdhouses! 📍 House of the Blackheads – Probably Riga’s most spectacular building! Originally built in the 14th century, it was destroyed during WWII and later reconstructed. The beautiful red-brick façade is incredible. 📍 Riga Old Town – Get lost in the colourful cobbled streets, admire the historic buildings and discover little cafés. Don’t miss the impressive Riga Cathedral! 📍 Armadillo Sculpture – One of Riga’s quirkier hidden gems! Look out for this unusual bronze animal sculpture near Dome Square. 📍 Mirror Snail – Another unexpected piece of street art! This enormous mirrored snail with its bright blue shell makes a fantastic photo opportunity. 📍 Latvian Academy of Sciences – A striking Soviet-era skyscraper nicknamed Stalin’s Birthday Cake! Getting There Fly into Riga International Airport, then take local bus number 22 directly to the Old Town in just 25-30 minutes. Alternatively, rent a car and use a navigation system to navigate across the connecting bridges into the Old Town in a few minutes. You'll quickly reach the entrance to restaurants and the historic square. The spacious pedestrian square is spectacular and free to enter. The beautiful scenery and clear skies are sure to impress. (The highlight is the pleasant, cool weather, and you can sample "Riga Black Balsam," a local herbal drink, and traditional black rye bread baked in a local charcoal oven, available year-round at a nearby cafe, to experience its authentic flavors.) The cobblestone streets of Riga's Old Town are worn smooth and shiny, with buildings on both sides blending Gothic, Baroque, and Art Nouveau styles. The red brick facade of the Blackhead Palace stands out in the square, while the church spire peeks out from the alleyway beside it. The houses along the Daugava River are newer than those in the Old Town, and the cafes along the riverbank are bustling in the afternoons, with boats slowly passing by on the water. In winter, the Old Town becomes much quieter, and when the snow covers the rooftops, it's as serene as an old photograph. Actually, the Old Town isn't very big; you can easily find your way around it after a few walks, and every detail offers something new to discover.

In autumn, go to the grassland to see the reeds. The entire hillside is covered with white reeds, which sway like snow waves when the wind blows. The trail is well-maintained and you won't feel tired at all when you walk up slowly. When the sun sets, the reeds are all dyed golden red, and every photo you take will look beautiful. There are freshly roasted chestnuts for sale at the top of the mountain. They are ten yuan a pound. They are hot and sweet when they are freshly roasted. Peel one and eat it. It warms your stomach and makes you feel comfortable. It is much more comfortable than being crowded with people at popular photo spots. You feel more open and relaxed.

In winter, you can go to the mountains to see the icicles. The trails are well-maintained and have anti-slip mats, so you don't have to worry about slipping. The trees are covered with glistening icicles, which shimmer with a bluish light when the sunlight shines through, making them look like the trees are blooming with crystal flowers. It's especially beautiful. Villagers sell hot tea eggs by the roadside for three yuan each. They're warm to hold in your hand. You can stroll around at your own pace and take pictures without feeling crowded at all. It's much more impressive than the pictures you see online. After walking around, you feel refreshed and relaxed. It's much more comfortable than staying at home.

very modern and attractive museum with superb collection of different vehicles 🚗— presoviet collection, Soviet collection etc. it’s good to reserve 1,5-2hours to spend here. my husband was amazed by the collection and how well kept the exhibition was. we went during museum night, so entrance was free. but usually it is 10eur from adult. highly recommend！

In early spring, we went to the countryside to forage for wild vegetables. The field ridges were covered with tender shepherd's purse. We could pick it by hand without any tools, and in half an hour, we could fill a small basket. The vendor said we could pick as much as we wanted, and we could pay after weighing it—it was cheaper than at the market. When we got home, we made shepherd's purse and pork dumplings. They were so delicious that we even drank the soup. While foraging for wild vegetables, we basked in the warm sun and felt the soft breeze. It was so much more comfortable than running at the gym. Adults and children alike had a great time. When we got home and ate the vegetables we had foraged for ourselves, even the rice tasted three times better.

In early summer, go crayfish fishing in the valley. The banks are lined with flat, shady trees. The owner provides fishing rods and bait, so you don't need to bring your own. He teaches you how to bait the bait and how to lift the rod, and you can catch a small, clawing crayfish in no time. Once you've filled a small bucket, you can have it cooked by the owner. It's braised with thirteen spices until it's very flavorful. Eating crayfish with ice-cold soda is much more delicious than eating at a restaurant. You can sit there leisurely for an afternoon, with a cool breeze blowing in from the valley. It's much more enjoyable than staying at home playing on your phone.

In autumn, we went to the forest farm to collect pine cones. The roads in the forest area were well-maintained, and you could drive right to the parking lot. The ground was covered with plump pine cones, and the owner said we could pick as many as we wanted. After collecting them, we could even do pine cone crafts with the teacher, making a small lamp or Christmas tree that we could take home. The kids squatted on the ground, happily collecting pine cones, while the adults sat nearby, basking in the sun and chatting. The forest was filled with the fresh scent of pine trees; even after a day of walking, the air felt incredibly clean. It was so much more comfortable than being crammed into a crowded amusement park. And after playing, we could take our creations home—it was so meaningful!

I went paddleboarding with friends. The instructor was very thorough; I learned to stand steadily in just ten minutes. The lake was calm and still, so even beginners wouldn't fall in. We paddled to the center of the lake, stopped, and sat floating on the water, looking at the trees on the shore. The breeze was incredibly refreshing. No one rushed us back; we could float for as long as we wanted. After an afternoon of paddleboarding, I felt completely relaxed. It was so much more fun than sitting in an internet cafe playing games, and the price wasn't expensive—even students could afford it. We even made plans to come back next month! It was so relaxing.
