Bern Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Chill, watch sunset for free @ Parliment Bldg
Summer time, one place which you can chill at and watch the sun set, admire the scenery, watch the iconic Swiss train pass by - when the weather is good - would be the Parliment building.
It provides a good photo spot for humans, buildings, architecture, and also the area around Bern.
Recommended to come for an hour around 2000.
Located at the Parliment Building, Bern
Bundesplatz 3, 3003 Bern, Switzerland

A city frozen in time.
Berne is such a wonderful place. Set in the heart of Switzerland, Bern is the gateway to the Alps. There are bears roaming freely around the city walls (in a safe environment). The people are nice, wonderful food and most of all, the beautiful architecture.
It is one of Europe’s smallest capitals but punches above its weight when it comes to world-class galleries, unbeatable urban swimming and, of course, chocolates!
For the best overview of Berne’s old town, climb up from the river to the Rosengarten. It has a restaurant, and its benches are popular in the colder months as it catches the sun.
Please do visit when you have time!
Bern, the capital city of Switzerland, is bui
Bern, also spelled Berne, city, capital of Switzerland and of Bern canton, in the west-central part of the country. It lies along a narrow loop of the Aare River.
Old Bern, connected by several bridges to newer parts of the city on the right bank, preserves more of its medieval appearance than any other Swiss city.
A powerful force since medieval times, the thriving Swiss capital is an appealing city of museums and collections. Bernmobil is the capital's transit service. A BernCard is valid on trams and buses that serve the city. A free bike service is also an option for getting around. The Historical Museum and the Collection of the Bern Museum of Fine Arts house the art and architecture of millennia. The Einstein House and the Paul Klee Center showcase the work of two of Bern's famous former inhabitants.

Switzerland- Bachalpsee Lake
Getting There - using the Swiss travel pass, you get discounts for tickets. The gondola ride up Mount First offers a breathtaking view.
Attractions - Hiking to Bachalpsee lake, Swiss bridge walk
Hotels - Grindewald Airbnb
Food & Restaurants - there’s a cafe on the top of mount first with a gorgeous view! Food in Switzerland isn’t cheap but their seafood in particular taste super fresh!
Shopping - There isn’t any shopping at Mount First. however, Grindewald is where mount first is located & has several cute little shops to purchase your souvenirs from! and there’s the famous Laderach chocolates which is a whole lot more cheaper than the stores in SG!

snowing in spring
#skiadventure
We visited Grindelwald-First in May and were surprised to see snow in action. FIRST is one of the most popular places to visit in Switzerland.
The First Cliff Walk is just about 300 meters long, and what we saw was just white scenery due to the snow.
With this weather in May, we can imagine how snowy it will get in winter time. Maybe it is a sign for us to return during winter to experience some ski adventure.

Grindelwald: A crime if you miss it!
Get here by train! We came via Basel and just enjoyed the scenic views from the huge train windows. Lake, villages, mountains, you won’t want to close your eyes!
Coming here in early autumn, we escaped the crowds and could explore First, Eiger, and Jungfraujoch with ease and little wait time. The mountains are magnificent all thru the year! The colours of the landscape will change and hiking to the Balchapsee is an experience in itself. Discovering WCs in the middle of nowhere, up
in the mountains, complete with toilet tissue is something only the Swiss can guarantee!
There are many hotels in this little village and all are within walking distance of the train station. We stayed at the Eiger Aparthotel as we wanted to prepare our own meals to save cost. Bookings come with daily afternoon tea and the variety of cakes, teas and coffees were an absolute treat!
There are many cafes around for fondue and all sorts of local delights. We opted to explore the two supermarkets for raw ingredients and cooked up our own dinners at a fraction of the cost of eating out. Do check out the different yogurt flavours, types of cheese, and cured meats too!
As it is a tourist destination, you can get souvenirs and major brands here. There is a post office (to send postcards) and some banks if you need forex.
My #2023travelwish is to drop by this beautiful place again in the SUMMER and take in the wonders of creation ❤️

Kleine Scheidegg
Kleine Scheidegg is a mountain pass situated in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland, between the Eiger and Lauberhorn peaks. It's a popular destination for tourists and outdoor enthusiasts, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, including the iconic Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Kleine Scheidegg is also a gateway to the Jungfraujoch, often referred to as the "Top of Europe," accessible by the Jungfrau Railway.
Swiss memories of a lucid dream on the Jungfrau
I put down my eyelids and thoughts in the wooden house, and I can enjoy the tranquility of being in the snow scene outside the window without appreciation, and I can catch the trance of the moment in the fireplace without concentration. What I can't forget is the last descent in Grindelwald. Under the setting sun, I broke into the sea of clouds with the train, and vaguely saw that the north wall of the Eiger Peak above did not touch the snow and broke through the fog, and the golden peak reflected the afterglow into this world that should only be white. I don't want to stay, bypass the crowd who stop to admire, pass through the tunnel under the railway track, pass through the invisible scenery, pass through the path in the forest...
The fog buries the familiar road
There is no eye-catching scenery to crowd the sight, the snowboard cuts accurately on the snow, and the snow stirred up is noisy and harmonious
There is no changing scenery to judge the speed
But I know the time when the snowflakes pass through the body, the road under my feet drags the fanaticism away, the breath is stripped away with the cold wind, every nerve is stripped away, I dissipate in the fog, and let the body sink into the sea bottom

Jungfrau Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
I see trees of green ♪
Beautiful alpine village nestled in the mountains with an amazing view of the Jungfrau valley and Lauterbrunnen down below. Taking the train up to Wengen will guarantee you a lovely view of Lauterbrunnen.
The village has shops, attractions and amenities within walking distance. Though, if you do decide to get a resort/hotel further up, be sure to ask for shuttle cars, the upwards slopes are no joke.
Our hotel had a lovely view of the cable car rides up to Männlichen, the street below and at night- if you’re willing to stand in the 14 degrees cold (even in summer) you can get a good picture of the night sky!
Of course, we couldn’t stay in Wengen without visiting Männlichen and her famous Royal Walk- a short hike of 1.7km, with elevations up to 80-120m up/down, grants you a truly breathtaking panoramic view. ((the gravel paths can be a bit slippery so be careful on the way down))
The trail from Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg was an overall downhill walk with a view of Grindelwald down below and the snow capped mountains. But before you embark on this trail be sure to either get something to eat or drink (and the WC of course) at Männlichen as it is quite a long walk (about 4.7km). Near the midpoint you can see Eiger! A truly memorable walk with amazing scenery of the town below and mountains all around us.
Truly a scenic paradise with plenty of activities to do, whether you prefer to simply enjoy the views or try out some of their more thrilling activities. It was my first time visiting Switzerland but certainly won’t be the last!#switzerland #summervacation #nature #alps

Jungfrau | Top of Europe !!!! 🇨🇭
How to get there: There are 2 ways to go up Jungfrau: 1) By the Cable Car (Eiger Express) or 2) By train. We went up by the eiger express (from Grindelswald, interchanging at Terminal), and we came down by train.
Before we went up, we contemplated of joining a tour but given we have done a fair share of research, I ended up going by ourselves.
There are several viewing sites, which ofc include Jungfrau itself, ice palace, exhibition of history of the site construction of Jungfrau, and Lindlt chocolate museum.
It was negative 18 degree celsius on Jungfrau!!! So for those who cannot handle the cold, don’t visit during the winter 😂😂😂
Despite the weather condition was not ideal (no blue sky😣) but i guess it is as expected because we went during the winter ❄️)
Pro tip: I would recommend purchasing the swiss pass as you get discount for the jungfrau ticket and free transport within Switzerland!!

Interlaken, charming village in Switzerland!
#2023travelwish
My most unforgettable vacation destination was Interlaken; a charming village beneath of Jungfrau, Switzerland. Surrounded by mountains and nature beauty, sits between the emerald-coloured waters of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz, it has old timber houses and parkland on either side of the Aare River, truly a beatiful and picturesque holiday destination.
Interlaken is also a hotspot for paragliding, hiking and sightseers alike, and the gateway to exploring the Jungfrau region.
My 2023 dream destination would be Kyoto, Japan for stunning Autumn leaves.🍁
