Photos of Shuyuan Village
Shuyuan Village is located at the southern foot of Mount Huangshan, surrounded by mountains, towering ancient trees, and water circulation running through the whole village. Because the terrain is very similar to the Sichuan Basin, it is called Shuyuan. Shuyuan Village belonged to Sheyi in history and now belongs to Huizhou District of Huangshan City. There are 6 small natural villages, including Qianshan, Shuyuan, Banqiaoshan, Beishanxia, Blacksmith's Wharf, and Shukou, with a population of nearly 1,000. Shuyuan Village has a long history, with Bao surname accounting for more than 80%. According to the genealogy records, Shen Gong, the lieutenant of the Jin Hujun army, the ancestor of the Bao family, moved to Xin'an. During the reign of Song Jianyan, Zu Ronggong built a villa in Tangyue and settled down there. Later, Duke Ren buried his mother in Shuyuan, and moved his family to guard the tomb for the rest of his life. Therefore, the Bao family takes Tangyue as the ancestor here.
