Photos of Kiev Pechersk Lavra

Also known as Pechersk Monastery, it was built in 1051 and is also one of the religious centers of the Orthodox Church. In 1990, it was listed as a World Cultural Heritage. The monastery area includes a labyrinth of cave churches and numerous wonderful museums. The cave church consists of two caves 400 meters apart. It used to be a monastery and later a tomb for priests, who were naturally air-dried into mummies due to the special environment of the cave. In the museum, you can see archaeological relics from Egypt, Cyprus, Jerusalem and other places, gold and silver handicrafts from the 15th to 20th centuries, historical paintings and paintings and sculptures by modern painters Picasso, Dali and others. .
