Photos of Port Campbell National Park

Port Campbell (Port Campbell) is located on a natural canyon at the entrance of Campbell's Little Bay at the western end of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. Australia established Port Campbell National Park in 1964, named after Captain Alexander Campbell. Port Campbell was formed 26 million years ago when the area was still under the sea. After the death of marine animals, the calcium-rich shells accumulated on the seabed, and slowly formed a layer of limestone with a thickness of 260 meters, which was exposed to the sea during the ice age. Only wave-eroded rock pillars and arch bridge-shaped rocks remain. The cliffs on the coast of Port Campbell stretch for 32 kilometers, and the erosion of the waves for thousands of years has formed groups of rock pillars standing on the sea of Port Campbell.
