So Korean, so Christmas! No wonder it's called Ningbo's little Jeju!
There are many coffee and tea houses in this alley🍵!
📍Ningbo Academician Center
Under the big tree🌳bench, I really like it here🍃
Overlooking the lake from here is also extremely beautiful~
📍Ningbo Xiaoputuo
Just at sunset when I got here, how can you say it's not beautiful!
Walking along the road, you can also take pictures of redwoods, it's really beautiful
On a sunny day☀️the whole lake is shining, so blue😍
Cycling along the lake is also a good choice!
Under the mysterious Qian Lake in Ningbo, there is a hidden Penglai Fairy Island
Under the mysterious Qian Lake in Ningbo, there is a hidden Penglai Fairy Island. Er Ling Mountain, located in the southeast of Dongqian Lake, facing Xiayu Mountain to the west and Yuebo Mountain to the north across the lake, is named for its 'mountain spirit and water spirit'. Once upon a time, there were three wonders on Er Ling Mountain: Er Ling Temple, Er Ling Pagoda, and Er Ling Mountain House. Er Ling Zen Temple, with the opening of Qian Lake's mystery and the connection of land routes in recent years, gradually emerged in everyone's eyes. The incense has been continuous for nearly a thousand years, until it was destroyed in the 1960s and began to be restored in the 1980s. - Er Ling Pagoda, according to the stone inscription, was built in the Northern Song Dynasty, nearly a thousand years ago. It is precisely the previous seclusion that allows the present scene to appear before us! When the sun sets, when the sunlight hits the Er Ling Pagoda, the shadow of the pagoda is reflected in the water, this is one of the ten scenes of Dongqian Lake, Er Ling Sunset. The pagoda is 9 meters high, with a seven-layer hollow structure on all sides! Travel guide: Navigation: Er Ling Zen Temple, located in the Qian Lake mystery, cannot be reached directly by car. 8 Transportation: You can enter the Qian Lake mystery by walking from Xiaoputuo or the underwater wetland, or take the scenic battery car to the Yuanrong Square after entering from Xiaoputuo. Distance: About 4 kilometers walk from Xiaoputuo, estimated tour: 2-3 hours. Er Ling Pagoda route: Enter from the right hand side facing the gate! Not in the temple
Hiking Through History and Nature
💗 Dongqian Lake near Ningbo boasts a collection of breathtaking hiking trails that are nothing short of incredible. One of the most popular trails is the Hengjie Trail, which takes hikers through bamboo forests, pine forests, and tea plantations. The trail is a six-hour hike through the tea hills, surrounded by nature and providing gorgeous views overlooking the lake. It's a good climb up, but the scenery makes it worth the effort.
🥾 The Hengjie Trail is steeped in history, with the surrounding areas being home to ancient villages that date back over a thousand years. The trails were once used by the villagers to transport tea, rice, and other goods to the nearby towns. Today, the trails are a popular spot for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
🚶♀️ Hikers need to be prepared for the weather, as it can get windy and chilly in the hills. It's important to pack warm clothes and a jacket, as well as plenty of snacks as there are no places to eat or stock up along the way. The signage along the trail is not the best, so hikers need to keep an eye out and be prepared to get lost in the woods for hours if they're not careful.
⛰️ 🍵 The Hengjie Trail is an incredible hiking experience that's not to be missed if you're visiting Dongqian Lake. The history, scenery, and challenging climb make it an unforgettable adventure for hikers of all skill levels. Just make sure to pack accordingly and be prepared for an amazing journey through the tea hills.

Discovering the Beauty of Dongqian Lake
✨ Dongqian Lake, also known as "Fortune Lake," is a stunning freshwater lake located in Ningbo, Zhejiang province. This picturesque destination offers a wide range of activities for travelers to enjoy. Visitors can rent carts to drive around the lake, but be warned that they go very slow along the boardwalks, and it may not be worth the price tag. Instead, take advantage of the many delicious local restaurants that circle the lake - we indulged in the local cuisine.
🤩 The lake also boasts a beautiful small temple and many homestays for those looking for a more immersive experience. You can join locals picnicking along the shore or explore the many cycling and walking tracks that wind through the mountains and tea fields. The area can be super windy, but it's easy to get to and just a short trip from Ningbo.
To get there, you can take a bus or taxi from Ningbo, which is only about 20 kilometers away. Once you arrive, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy, from boating and fishing to hiking and cycling. The natural beauty of the lake is breathtaking, and the peaceful atmosphere is perfect for relaxation and reflection.

Tianyi Pavilion Museum Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
😋 Tairyo TEPPANYAKI in China 🇨🇳
One of my favorite Japanese restaurants in Ningbo, which luckily has many branches around China: Tairyo Teppanyaki! This one is located in Tianyi Square, on the fourth floor of the International Shopping Center.
If you’re a foodie and enjoy all-you-can-eat restaurants, this is the place to go. Make sure you arrive ✨hungry✨! For ¥228/person (drinks included), you can order from a huge online menu and watch the food be prepared right in front of you, served up by knife-wielding chefs who slice and dice everything from beef and lambchops to cod filets and shrimps!
The quality of the dishes is great, very well served and perfectly seasoned every time. From sushi, to meat, to fried rice, noodles, veggies, and a variety of desserts, Teppanyaki is an amazing place to go with a group of friends to enjoy a night out.
🍺 Some drinks they serve:
-beer
-soft drinks
-sake
-juices
-wine
-water
🍱 Some food options:
-sashimi (salmon, tuna, white fish)
-sushi
-foie gras
-clams with cheese
-fried shrimps
-soups
-fried rice
-noodles
-lamb
-oysters
and literally soooo much more
To end your night, scoop up a ball of ice cream and ask them for a flaming banana to go with it! 🍦

Tianyi Ge in Ningbo
Ningbo isn’t known for too many tourist attractions, but its most famous one, Tianyi Ge, is worth a visit for sure!
Tianyi Ge is a massive garden that is home to the oldest library in China 🤯
When you’re through exploring the gardens, rent an e-scooter and make your way through the city! They’re everywhere, come with helmets, and are only 1.5 CNY/30 min!

Ningbo must hit the card, Qianqiu pen Tianyi Pavilion
before the Tianyi Pavilion, the understanding of it seems to be limited to its name and its book collection. I think it should be a small building with a strong book flavor, a building that records the historical changes since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. After that, I was amazed at the fact that such a well-known library building was located in a narrow street less than 100 meters.
In the late Jiajing period, the scholar Fan Qin was a 27-year-old scholar, and followed the axiom of Confucianism, and he entered the career path. He is addicted to books, and every time he takes office, he first collects a good book, and in his later years, he builds a library, and he does not leave the house, reading, copying books, and repairing ancient books. "Book of Changes" has a cloud: the sky is a raw water, the land is 60%. The library is most afraid of fire, so this building is named Tianyi Pavilion. The bookcase is hard-topped and has a wide-scale structure. The building is wide and the upper floor is a large one. There are six rooms downstairs, which is exactly the same as the "Tianyidi Six". There are corridors in front and back to communicate with each other. There is a "Tianyichi" in front of the building. The water is diverted into the pool from the Yuehu Lake. Tianyi Pavilion is fortunate. We should thank Fan Qin and Fans family for their adherence to the cabinet, and the guardianship of many people, so that the cultural treasures have not disappeared, so that we can have the good news today. The history of the book is incense.
The park is very large, and it is not bad to walk around at will. The East Garden and the South Park are scattered in the mountains, ponds, pavilions, etc., which are very tasteful and comfortable. Perhaps for the people of this city, Tianyi Pavilion is not just a quiet courtyard. It has long been a symbol, a totem, and a living code of conduct that has survived. It is this respect and respect for culture that has made the development and prosperity of a city.
Located in the urban area of Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, it is the earliest private library building in China. It is also the oldest library in Asia and one of the world's first three family libraries.
was built in the middle of the Ming Dynasty and was built by Fan Qin, the right minister of the retreat. Many of the exhibition halls display books collected by Fan's family all over the world.
The building combines traditional folk crafts such as wood carving, brick carving, stone carving, gold decoration and copying. It is a masterpiece of Ningbo residential architecture.
day - There is also an interesting mahjong museum in the pavilion, which has become a popular choice for many people to take pictures.

Xuedou Mountain Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
XUFUYAN WATERFALL 💦
Now that the weather is warming up in Ningbo, this is definitely a place you’ll want to visit to cool off and tune out of the city vibe!
Xufuyan Waterfall, located about 6km west to Xuedou Temple, is well-known in the south of the lower reaches of the Yangtze River for its highly-hanging waterfall and perilous precipice. It got the name of "Xufu" from the story that an immortal rose slowly to heaven from here on a wild animal, "Fu".
Xufu Cliff is 667m high while the falling head is 242m, which is called "the First Waterfall
in east China". Besides, the steep cliffs here are very striking and beautiful. Many famous poets in the Tang Dynasty (960-1127), including Liu Changqin, Pi Rixiu, Lu Guimeng, Fang Gan, etc, were enchanted by the beautiful scenery here and wrote many poems about it.
At the entrance m, you need to purchase a ticket and you can choose the package you want, some of the options include:
🔹only hiking
🔹camping
🔹glass bridge
🔹via ferrata
When you make your way down to the waterfall, you will encounter a lot of steps. And I do mean a LOT. The infrastructure is great, so you don’t need to worry about the ground itself, but man it’s tiring 😅 Close to the waterfall, there is also an incredibly well-maintained bathroom. I was surprised at how clean it was and it smelled so good. I had no problems to change clothes and use the restroom when needed, that made the trip 10x better!
In front of the waterfall there is a small sand area where we were able to sit, tan, enjoy the views, and have a picnic 😋 In case you plan on doing the same, make sure to bring a trash bag with you and clean up when you’re done! Leave the place as you found it.
Although there is a sign saying swimming is prohibited, the day was just too hot to not enjoy that crystal blue water. During the hours when the sun is fully out, the place was pretty much empty, so I took advantage of that and went for a swim. 💯% worth it. The water is amazing, super clear, and shallow the first two or three meters. After that it does get deep, good to dive and swim around! I do believe the sign is there just for precaution, as the area is not really monitored (there are cameras right there, but no actual security or life guards), and not because the water is potentially dangerous or something. But that’s just my personal opinion and I actually have no idea lol
⚠️ Do watch out for animals around you at all times. As we were leaving, we spotted a little snake swimming across the water! 🐍

Xuedou Mountain has been famous since ancient times. It is recorded that Emperor Renzhao of the Northern Song Dynasty once dreamed of "the table of the eight poles". After waking up, he was deeply attracted by the beauty of the dream, and sent people to the world to paint the world famous mountains. He contrasts. When he saw the landscape of Xuedou Mountain, Shuangliuxiaoqi, Zhulins pretty show, he was attracted to it at once. He determined that Xuedoushan is the eight poles he dreamed of, and Xuedoushan became famous. . In the five years of Yongyou, the Southern Song Dynasty Lizong Zhao Wei commemorated the first emperor's sleep in the snow sinus, chasing the four characters of the book "Yingmeng famous mountain", sent people to Xuedoushan.
Sanyintan is the essence of the entire Xuedou Mountain. It is more than 1,600 meters in length and forms a three-level waterfall under the mountain. It is a rare step waterfall in eastern Zhejiang. The three waterfalls form the upper, middle and lower waterfalls with different styles and fantastic depths.
Walk in the Snow Dou Mountain. Anything that is hot under the sun is not good. It is very cool in the shade. Fortunately, the vegetation on the mountain is lush, and there are basically shades of trees. It is very comfortable to walk under the shade.

Nantang Old Street Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Old streets of Ningbo
Nantang Ancient Street is in the centre of Ningbo, close to the Railway Station and lines 2 and 4 of Ningbo’s Metro system.
It’s home to small food stands which line some streets and runs along the river. You can see locals fishing and cleaning in the river as you walk through. In the evening, lanterns light up the sky, balanced from shop to shop. There’s some history to see in this area, detailed on the walls. Shops here include pet stores, stationary, local goods and lots of food choices. Nantang is also home to the Cat and Raccoon cafe of Ningbo.
Entry into Nantang is free, there are 2 main streets to follow along and it’s worth the scenery.

Encounter with Ningbo Nantang Old Street: The Beauty and Affection in the Rain
Encounter with Ningbo Nantang Old Street: The Beauty and Affection in the Rain
During a three-day trip to Ningbo, despite the plum rain season with its incessant drizzles, the charm of the city remains undiminished. This highly inclusive city exudes a unique vibe, rain or shine.
Nantang Old Street, as Ningbo's historical and cultural calling card, is certainly worth a visit. Walking through the old street in the rain is like traveling through time, back to that ancient era. The bluestone pavement, the antique buildings, and the bustling crowd form a vivid picture.
Strolling along the street, a variety of snacks and handicrafts are on full display. The aroma of delicious food is mouthwatering, while the exquisite handicrafts are irresistible. Here, you can fully savor the authentic flavors of Ningbo and feel the charm of traditional culture.
Although the rain keeps falling, people's enthusiasm is not diminished. On the old street, people are either leisurely sipping tea and chatting or busily setting up stalls and hawking their wares, all with happy smiles on their faces. This harmonious and inclusive atmosphere deeply reflects the charm of Ningbo.
As a child from the north, I was deeply attracted to Ningbo on my first visit. Its beauty lies not only in the scenery but also in the culture. In this vibrant and fashionable city, I felt the warmth of home and the power of culture.
You should definitely visit Ningbo Nantang Old Street to experience its unique beauty and affection. Whether it's sunny or rainy, it has its own charm and style, waiting for you to discover, experience, and cherish.
Discover the century-old flavors of Ningbo
Ningbo's Nantang Old Street is located outside the south gate of the ancient city of Ningbo in Zhejiang Province. In the past, it was the 'South Gate Market', a hub of Ningbo's commerce and culture, and is one of the eight historic districts of Ningbo. Themed as 'the window to Ningbo's traditional culture, the characteristic of the Jiangnan water town of Nantang River, and the cultural region of the Yuan family', it preserves over 500 meters of traditional Jiangnan streets and alleys, reflecting the strong business and daily life culture of Ningbo people over the past century.
Best vegetarian food I've ever tried
We were walking in Nantang Old Street wondering what to eat and what to buy till we found this awesome open buffet restaurant called Su Man Xian (素满香) which only charges 28¥ per person, kids under 4 are for free.. we were surprised with the service and the variety of vegetables dishes including cakes , drinks and soups .. it was an awesome experience that we'll definitely try again if we have the chance to go to Ningbo again !#南塘老街 #素满香

✅Travel Recommendations
DAY1: Qiangjiao Town - Watch the sunset in Jiajueke Village - Stay at Ninghai Sheraton Hotel
DAY2: Xiyousi Temple - Longgong Ancient Village - Qiantong Ancient Town - Return trip
🚗Transportation Advice: Self-driving is more convenient, 2.5h from Hangzhou, 1h from Ningbo city center. Take the high-speed train to Ninghai Station and then rent a car/hire a car.
📸Photo Spots Introduction
1⃣️Qiangjiao Town,
Known as Ningbo's Little Jeju Island, you must go on a sunny day, the sea here is really blue. The most photogenic spot is at 'Folk Uncle coffee·beer', the first picture is taken uphill behind the coffee shop.
2⃣️Longgong Ancient Village,
With a history of over 900 years, the village has preserved many ancient houses and stone roads, as well as a uniquely shaped dragon tree, those who like to visit ancient villages will be pleasantly surprised.
3⃣️Xiyousi Temple,
A temple hidden in the mountains, with a history of over 800 years, the Buddha pagoda and statues built against the mountain are particularly impressive! It is currently under construction, but you can still visit normally.
4⃣️Qiantong Ancient Town,
Known as the 'Little Lijiang of Jiangnan', the ancient town uses the principle of Bagua to introduce stream water into the village, forming a residential structure of 'carved beams in every house, living water in every household', it is one of the few ancient towns in Zhejiang that is not overly commercialized.
🏨Accommodation Recommendation
We stayed at the Ninghai Sheraton Hotel this time, only a 6min drive from Ninghai High-Speed Train Station, very convenient for traveling and sightseeing~~ The room window overlooks the charming lake view and hotel surroundings.
Qiantong Ancient Town Journey: Dreams Turn into Reality
Qiantong Ancient Town Journey: Dreams Turn into Reality
Once upon a time, my heart was filled with countless aspirations and dreams. Before I went to college, I often fantasized about living in the south for a while, to experience that unique tranquility and poetic charm. Imagining myself strolling on the ancient town's bluestone paths, feeling the distinctive flavor of the water town.
Now, as I find myself in the embrace of Qiantong Ancient Town, those dreams seem to have come true one by one. Every corner of the ancient town is permeated with a rich historical atmosphere, and each brick and tile tells a story of the years. I walk along the river, watching the water flow gently, as if I can hear the breathing of the ancient town.
Here, I have felt the gentleness and tranquility of the southern water town. The residential houses in the ancient town are well-arranged, with white walls and black tiles, exuding an antique charm. I have tasted the local specialties and felt the warmth and simplicity of the southern people.
Looking back, those quirky ideas have now become reality. I am grateful to Qiantong Ancient Town for making my dreams come true and for making me cherish the beautiful moments I have now.
Zhejiang Ninghai‖A seriously underrated gem of a tourist city~

🚶 'My Itinerary'
Day1⃣️. Qiantong Ancient Town - Oriental Art Museum -
Day2⃣️. Longgong Village - Xiyousi Temple - Guangde Temple
.
🚗 'About Transportation'
Self-driving is more suitable, 1h from Ningbo city center, and not far from various attractions after getting off the highway.
.
🚩 'About Check-in Spots'
1⃣️Qiantong Ancient Town
An ancient town that seems to be forgotten by time, laid out according to the Bagua, with small bridges over flowing water. Chen Yifei's movie 'The Barber' was filmed here.
2⃣️Qiangjiao Town
Here you can find a piece of azure sea, as if you've come to Jeju Island, watch a sunset along the coastline, and enjoy seafood, very pleasant.
3⃣️Guangde Temple
A very beautiful temple, also an unexpected find, really photogenic.
4⃣️Xiyousi Temple
You can drive directly up the mountain, climbing online you can see pagodas and Buddha statues, and also overlook the mountains, the place is not big, 1 hour is enough.
5⃣️Oriental Art Museum
Exhibits various intangible cultural heritage traditional crafts and Ten Miles of Red Makeup utensils, the building itself is also worth checking in.
·
🏨 'Accommodation Strategy'
I stayed at the Ninghai Sheraton Hotel this time, not far from Ninghai High-speed Railway Station and the highway exit, and also not far from the various attractions we were going to. I think the environment is good. The entrance is an oriental-style waterscape and garden, reflecting the philosophical musings on 'mountains' at the beginning of 'Xu Xiake's Travel Notes', which coincides with the feeling this city gives me. Next to it is Tianming Lake Park, and you can also visit the park in the morning, quite comfortable.
.
🍜 'Food Strategy'
The seafood here is delicious, although there are not many types of seafood now, but there are also many choices, green crabs, grouper, various miscellaneous fish are all delicious. I recommend Caiyue Xuan Chinese Restaurant, their crab rice cake is so good. There are also Qiantong pancakes and various bean products which are local specialties.
.
If you feel tired from work, why not come to this comfortable seaside town for a visit!
