Introduction
What once started as a series of small exhibits housed in the hallways of the Chicago Public Library now fills a 57,000-square-foot facility and serves over 650,000 people each year. Located at Chicago's Navy Pier, the Chicago Children's Museum was founded in 1982 by the Junior League of Chicago. Fifteen permanent exhibits exist here, offering interactive learning experiences for kids (who get in for free if they're 15 or under). The museum currently has its heart set on moving, but for now, guests can catch this popular attraction at its waterfront location.

This place is AMAZING for kids! Tons of different stuff for them to climb on, like a boat and fire truck, but the museum is laid out so that a parent or caregiver can watch their child interact with others, or join in on the equipment. The fire truck and boat also serve the dual purpose of teaching safety. Love love love the children's museum!
Hop on the South Shore Line from the Miller Beach Train Depot (2 miles from Miller Beach Dream Retreat)--30 minute train ride.
Definitely worth a visit as part of trip to Navy Pier.
the Chicago Children's Museum is on Navy Pier and is great for all ages. The only negative is the parking - it's expensive (expect to pay about $22), there's no discount, and there's nowhere else to park. However the museum itself is great - small kids will love the grocery store or digging for fossils or the fire engine. Bigger kids will love the construction sets.
