The Houtanglou is the residence of Kong Decheng, the 77th grandson of Confucius and the Duke of Yansheng. In the hall are displayed the supplies of Kong's wedding in 1936, as well as calligraphy and paintings and gifts given by friends at that time. At that time, many political dignitaries attended or sent congratulatory gifts. The east room was the reception room at that time, furnished with Chinese and Western furniture. The inside room was the bedroom of Kong Decheng and his wife, Sun Qifang. The picture frame on the east wall was inlaid with photos of Kong Decheng and his wife and their children. There is another building to the west of the Houtang Building, which is the Buddha Hall Building, where Duke Yansheng burns incense and worships Buddha. After the Houtang Building, there are 5 main rooms, called the rear five rooms, formerly known as Zaohuaixuan, which was originally the place where Duke Yansheng studied and became the house of maids in the late Qing Dynasty.
