Cattedrale di San Lorenzo Review

You can see this church on the way from Lugano Railway Station to the city. The spire of the church is very obvious. From the platform in front of the church, you can see the entire Lugano Lake. The scenery is very beautiful. It's a pity that the church closed early and couldn't go in to see the internal structure.

San Lorenzo Cathedral is located in the middle of the hillside in the city center. Today it happened to be the last day of renovation and it will open tomorrow. This renovation took 12 years and cost 600 million euros. The enthusiastic citizens told me that the inside was very beautiful after the renovation. Unfortunately, I have to leave tomorrow morning and I have no chance to go in.

Arriving in the Italian-speaking area, you can immediately feel the burning feeling in the air, and the architectural style has become different. The ancient church overlooks Lake Lugano, but the interior is being repaired. You can't see the frescoes on the lake as the background, only reveal the altar!

The church is funded by the medici family, and part of it (it is said that the small dome next to it was designed by brunelleschi, and it is also the most worth visiting place in this church. It is said that Michelangelo also redesigned an facade for this church, but for various reasons, it was not built.
