The Huangpu River is about 113 kilometers long and the river is 300 to 770 meters wide. The Huangpu River starts at Dianshan Lake in Dianfeng, Zhujiajiao Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai. Dianshan Lake accepts many of the water coming from the upper Taihu Lake basin. "Pu" is the meaning of the river in ancient Wu, and generally refers to the artificial river.
