If a kangaroo were to be hit by a blast from a shrink-ray, it would look similar as a quokka, an cute and outgoing species of marsupial found only in a few pockets of Western Australia. One of their few homes is tiny Rottnest Island, just a 25-minute ferry ride from the mainland of Western Australia, where these tiny fellas will gradually approach you. They aren’t the only great site at this amazing holiday destination, though. Hiking, golfing, biking, diving, snorkeling, and swimming all draw visitors here from nearby Perth and beyond. While the majority of visitors only spend one day here, there are self-contained units, a hotel, dormitories, and camping available on the island. There are several restaurants, coffee shops and a general store to keep you well fed during your stay.
