Stonehenge, Bath | A prehistoric cultural site, an unexplained miracle
It takes about an hour to drive from Stonehenge to the town of Bath, passing through endless grasslands and farmland, typical English countryside scenery. The cut grass is rolled into round bales, which are quite charming from a distance.
The stones that make up the stone circle are a type of bluestone from the Preseli Hills in southern Wales, 240 miles from the current location of the stone circle. Some evidence collected suggests that these huge stones were transported here during the Ice Age. But who built it? Why was it built? No scholar can explain it clearly.
Stonehenge is a famous prehistoric cultural temple site in Europe. According to research, it was born in 3000 BC, was abandoned for a time, and was rebuilt in 1600 BC, finally forming its current appearance.
There are about thirty-eight stones of various sizes left now. Due to long-term exposure to wind and sun, many strange-shaped holes have formed on the surface of the stones. Stonehenge is arranged in a concentric circle, the stones are roughly rectangular, but they stand upright on the ground, more than thirteen feet high. On top of the adjacent stones, there is another stone lying on top, either spanning two or four, arranged in a strange pattern.
Stonehenge, London
#londontrip
One of the most important survivals of prehistoric England located in Salisbury. Stonehenge consists of a group of huge rough-cut stones, some more than 20 feet high, arranged in two concentric circles.
Interesting museum & friendly atmosphere. There's a shuttle to reach the actual stones, which are 1.3 miles away. You can also walk along a safe pedestrian route. The henge is roped off, so you see it from a distance, but you can get the experience & take pictures. Plenty of parking.

💖🇬🇧Popular LONDON’s Day Trip 🪨😍

Stonehenge is the most popular day trip destination in London known for its beautiful heritage and its mystery of the prehistoric monument. It is just a quick drive away from the city center of London but you can take a very popular tour departing from London to explore the stunning geological formations of the amazing UNESCO World Heritage site, and then walk around the monument to study the mystery. It is known to have capture the best spot of sunrise with the sun perfectly creeping in the cracks between the stones. The place has a peaceful atmosphere with a few quaint shops selling souvenirs of Stonehenge and London. Whether you're looking for adventure or relaxation, a day trip to Stonehenge is a must-do if you happen to be in London.
Mystery of the Stonehenge
On the vast Salisbury Plain, a group of large stones called Stonehenge has stood for 4300 years. As a famous prehistoric cultural site in Europe, what is it for? How were they transported? How were they arranged like this? These questions are still unsolved mysteries. The most incredible thing about Stonehenge is the giant stones at the center of the stone circle. The tallest of these stones is meters high, with an average weight of nearly 30 tons, arranged in a circular pattern with a diameter of over 100 meters, which is extremely shocking. However, many of the stones weighing up to 7 tons are placed horizontally on two vertical pillars.
When arriving at Stonehenge, the first sight of these huge stones really makes one feel amazed. Their enormous size and shape are unbelievable, as if no modern technology could move them. Under the sun's shining, these stones emit a mysterious light, as if revealing some kind of mysterious power to us. Around the Stonehenge, there are other mysterious relics and monuments. The most famous one is the "Devil's Door", which is two huge stone pillars that look like a gateway. People have always believed that these standing stones were used for mysterious rituals, but their specific purpose remains a mystery to this day. On the grassland around Stonehenge, many small ruins and ancient tombs can be seen. These ruins represent the development and progress of early human civilization, allowing us to feel the life and culture of ancient people. If driving with navigation, you need to navigate to the Stonehenge Visitor Centre instead of Stonehenge. After buying tickets at the visitor center, you need to take the park's shuttle bus, which takes about 3 kilometers. This is the end point of the shuttle bus. Stonehenge admission ticket: £17.2/adult (including park shuttle).

Salisbury Cathedral
#fallingforfall
During this trip, we went to London for a holiday. We decided to go visit Stonehenge during one of the days of the trip. After the visit to Stonehenge, we took a bus to the nearby Salisbury Cathedral.
Salisbury Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is an Anglican cathedral in Salisbury, England. The cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Salisbury and is the seat of the Bishop of Salisbury.
After visiting the Cathedral, we went to stroll the nearby park. It was the fall season and thus the leaves of the tress were a blend of green yellow and red. They were so beautiful.

❣️🌸The Merchant’s House Hotel Salisbury
#cherryblossom2024
Address: 29 Milford St, Salisbury SP1 2AP, United Kingdom
The Merchant’s House hotel is a small hotel in an old building. It is located in a convenient location and you can walk easily to many places of interests. Probably some negligence of cleanliness but it could also be due to the wear and tear of the ancient building. The rooms are fantastic and spotless, nothing is dirty or shabby for the room we stayed. My rate also came with breakfast and we had a hearty breakfast everyday. You can also get a free drink from the bar. The staff at reception are also willing to answer questions and give us some pointers on where to visit.
❣️🌸Breakfast at The Merchant’s House Hotel
#cherryblossom2024
Address: 29 Milford St, Salisbury SP1 2AP, United Kingdom
This is the hotel we are staying in London and our rates come with breakfast. This hotel is located within walking distance from the train station and there are many shops and restaurants in this area. Luckily when we stayed here and we had breakfast included. It was the typical English breakfast which consisted of baked beans, sausages, bacons, tomatoes, mushrooms and sunny side up. This breakfast set will cost at least 10 pounds at a budget place. It is a hearty breakfast and you eat it hot so it was ok for us, just that it can be a bit greasy. Then we check out at 11am as this is the official timing and leave our bags at the hotels and explore the area.
