I tried visiting the library (former librarian and teacher) while traveling. The library is a beautiful building and big - I believe it is 9 floors! The reading room is under the dome. There are 2 shops - one for second hand books and a gift shop. Everyone from security guards to gift shop clerks to information desks is very friendly. Wheelchair accessible.

The Central Library of San Diego is located at 820 East Avenue and is the largest public library in San Diego. The library is not too big, but the building is beautiful. The library is free and can be accessed at will to read books and newspapers, or access the Internet on the library's computer.
San Diego Central Library, the largest library in San Diego, is open to the public for free
The whole library still can't get up very, very well.
