Established in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, the French Council of Guangzhou Bay is called the Ministry hall. It has concrete structure, and its doors and windows imitate Gothic style. From its establishment to 1945, the French Embassy of the Guangzhou Bay Concession was located here. The then minister worked here. The delicate goose-yellow building has curved steps leading to the second floor, two small curved steps on both sides, and a European-style fence corridor in front of the second and third floors. There is a self-chiming bell on the top of the building. The interior is spacious, with fireplaces and decorative doors and windows. It has a distinct modern western architectural style. Indoor is now divided into several plates, with the help of pictures, physical objects, text introduced the history of Zhanjiang for a hundred years.
Having visited the old site of Guangzhou Bay, fortunately we are liberal arts students, not driven mad by history; if we come to travel, it is still good to know about history. Across a street, the old man sat idly, and the young man smoked hookah. It's very stylish.
On the French style street beside the seaside park, the building is very conspicuous, and the road is the original "Guangzhou Bay French Naval Command" which is under renovation and is not open. I would like to remind you that the French Consulate is closed from 11 : 30 noon to 1 : 30 pm.
Before visiting here, I never knew that Guangzhou Bay existed in modern Chinese history, nor did I know that Zhanjiang was once Guangzhou Bay. After visiting the exhibition carefully, I knew the history of invasion and colonization, and I knew that there was not such an important part of the War of Resistance Against Japan as I knew it. The old site of the French Council in Guangzhou Bay was built in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. It imitates the Gothic architectural appearance. After a century of vicissitudes, it is now open to the public for free. There are very precious historical materials, the building itself basically retains the original structure, decoration, items in the original state, located in the old downtown area of Xiashan District, from the coast to walk. Very recommended!
The old site of the French Mission Office in Guangzhou Bay is beautiful in appearance. Although it is worn out, its momentum is interdependent. After registration and signature, it can be visited free of charge on the second floor. There are few visitors, and the visiting area is very small. 10-15 minutes is enough.
The exterior building is very distinctive. There is a painting exhibition in it. The second floor is the Guangzhou Bay History Exhibition Hall. It's meaningful for us to understand history. It's also a good choice to sit down quietly and watch the historical explanations.
The French Ambassador's Office is located opposite the seaside park. It is free to visit, opposite the French Command. In 1899, the Qing government leased the area to France in 1999, which was called Guangzhou Bay. France established a management department, stationed in the army and established a police department. The French Council and the French Army Command in Guangzhou Bay were the then French ambassadors and military command posts. On September 21, 1945, the National Government took over from the Japanese occupying forces and renamed it Zhanjiang, because the water is blue and the sky is blue. The old site of the French Army Command is currently being renovated and cannot be visited. The French Style Street is being built.
