Shihmen Reservoir

Shimen Reservoir is a large-scale hydro-junction project with flood control, irrigation and urban water supply as its main purpose, taking into account the functions of power generation and fish culture. It is a large reservoir with a long history in China.

Shimen Reservoir was built in 1969, impounded in 1973 and completed in 1979. It was once the highest double-curvature arch dam in China. Reservoir, with irrigation function as its main function, has the functions of power generation and aquatic products, and is an important source of rich and beautiful Hanzhong Basin.

Shimen Reservoir is located in Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. It belongs to the middle reaches of the Baohe River. It is a large-scale reservoir with irrigation as its main purpose, giving consideration to power generation, flood control and fish culture. The reservoir dam is arched between the two mountains. The pivotal project consists of arch dam, river-bed power station, the head of the East and west main canals and the counter-regulating pond.

It is in the same place as the Shimen Trestle Road Scenic Area. The dam is 88 meters high and mainly irrigated, giving consideration to power generation and fish farming. Climbing from the scenic spot to the dam and taking a cruise boat to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery, it's very enjoyable! __________
