Baota Mountain Forest Park

Nanjing Baota Mountain Forest Park is located at the north gate of Nanjing, south of Taishan New Village on North Daqiao Road. The park covers an area of 1,100 mu. Baota Mountain, formerly known as Jinwang Mountain, was named after the Jinwang Pagoda built by Jiankang (now Nanjing City) during the reign of Emperor Wen of Sui in 588 AD. The pagoda was destroyed by war during the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom of the Qing Dynasty, rebuilt at the end of the Qing Dynasty, and was destroyed again during the Liberation War. Nanjing Baota Mountain Forest Park is divided into four functional areas: forest quality development area, cultural exhibition area, urban cultural exhibition area, and forest folk tour. The Jinwang Pagoda was also rebuilt to make it a landmark building of Baota Mountain. On the mountain surface of Nanjing Baota Mountain Forest Park facing Daqiao North Road, 1,600 red sand stone slabs with patterns form a giant "mountain mural" of 1,400 square meters. The ochre-red mountain surface against the greenery, the pattern is looming. Through the depiction of people and things, it shows the Neolithic culture of ancient Nanjing Beiyinyangying.
