Worth visit.Much better than expected.
I knew nothing about this mine in advance but it was one of the major copper mine in 18th-20th century in our country. The entrance is so small so you immediately understand why you need helmet. But as...
It was discovered in the early Heian period and flourished in the Meiji period by incorporating modern mining methods. It is now accepted for sightseeing. The inside is narrow and the height is low, so if you can, you should wear a helmet that you rent at the entrance.
It was discovered in 807 and was hand-digged in the Edo period. The narrow tunnel was somewhat scary, but a large space appeared in the back and it was quite spectacular. the old tunnels are open to the public for sightseeing.

Note that 1, 2019 Year 7 As of March, the attached toilet cannot be used. It seems that it was demolished due to aging. The tunnel is safe and the interior is about 15 degrees regardless of the season, so it is cool in summer and warm in winter. It's not as good as Iwami Ginzan, but it's well worth a visit.
8 I visited during the Bon Festival holiday in the moon. There were only 1 tourists before and after us. If it is registered as a World Heritage Site, such as Iwami Ginzan, it will be in the limelight, but I felt a little lonely. However, the content of the tunnel was about the same size as that of Iwami Ginzan, and it was a magnificent tunnel where you can feel the efforts of the ingenuity of the time. If you have the opportunity to stop by nearby, I think it is a facility that you will definitely see at first glance.
