The boutique Hotel on Kota Kinabalu's iconic Gaya Street where the weekly festival Sunday Morning Market is held, as well as the Friday and Saturday Api-Api Night Food Market, featuring open air dinning and high energy music atmosphere with performers playing crowds, particularly around 10PM. Walking distance to the large Suria Sabah Shopping Mall with varieties of restaurants and fashion and to the ferry jetty for Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, a very popular premier island hopping destination for swimming, snorkelling, water sports and beach picnics just 20 minutes boat ride from the City.
"After reading the reviews here, I decided the choose the Sri Gaya hotel. The location is perfect. We were shopping in the area and just went back to the hotel for toilet breaks and drop-off our haul.
It’s unfortunate that Grab doesn’t recognizes this address yet and Google Maps gives a different address. I followed the Google
Maps adresje to the Public bank, which was the building right in front of the hotel.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay in this hotel and I would recommend and come here again myself!"

GGuest UserThree days, two nights, and every day brought a new kind of 'excitement.' Day one, the air conditioning didn't work, there were tons of mosquitoes, and the shower only had cold water. The only decent thing for dinner was the fried shrimp, which disappeared in seconds, and the few other dishes available were practically snatched away. It felt like a refugee experience. Day two, we got a different room. After swimming, I went back to shower, and there was no water, then cold water, then extremely hot water, constantly cycling. The water pressure was also incredibly low; I almost lost my mind trying to rinse the shampoo out of my hair. That night, it was very windy, and there was a lot of noise outside, as if something wasn't properly secured. On the third day, as we were checking out, our luggage was mistakenly taken by a staff member and given to other guests. It was only returned after the other guests realized the error. Our luggage was perfectly fine in the restaurant; how dare you just take it away? Do you have any basic management sense? Of course, the environment is nice, that's the only highlight. Given how expensive it was during Chinese New Year, you should provide a service level that matches the price. The buffet was cafeteria-standard, and we still had to fight for food. Are you not ashamed?

HHaf LuqThe hotel offers good value for money, and the room is comfortable. Its location is very convenient, with a shopping mall nearby and plenty of food options and daily necessities within walking distance.
The cleanliness is acceptable, although I'm not always sure whether the room is thoroughly cleaned every time housekeeping comes in. However, overall, my stay has always been satisfactory.
I stay here quite often because it suits my needs, and the service is generally good as well. Overall, a decent and satisfying hotel for the price.

GGuest UserFamilies, promise me you'll book this terrace room, okay?!!! Walking into the room and pulling back the curtains to reveal the sea view made every long flight worth it. All the hotel staff were incredibly warm and attentive, always smiling. The room was clean and tidy, and entering it felt cool and smelled lovely. Opening the windows in the evening to watch the sunset was truly relaxing and delightful; it really set the vacation mood! The welcome fruit, especially the apple, was so delicious – sweet, tangy, and crisp (I honestly never liked apples back home). The breakfast selection was also very rich, and the taste was quite good. Remember to try the iced freshly squeezed orange juice outside the door! 💕

GGuest UserThe water in the hotel's area is heavily polluted; it's so dirty that snorkeling is completely out of the question! The front desk staff were very perfunctory with guest requests and didn't follow through on promises. In the morning, we requested a private boat tour for island hopping and snorkeling. We discussed the time and itinerary with the dive center staff and finalized the price with the front desk. We even altered our subsequent travel plans for this. However, by 4 PM, we still hadn't received confirmation. When we called the front desk, they told us they couldn't arrange it. We asked several people, and got different explanations: first they said there were no boats, then that other guests had already been arranged for island hopping, and then that there would be a storm the next day (which turned out to be perfectly calm). I suggest the hotel improve its island hopping service. For those looking to dive, definitely don't consider this hotel! Also, the beach is incredibly tiny, barely palm-sized!

BBrendon VI had an amazing experience at this hotel. The rooms were spotless and very comfortable, expect the toilet is sharing and it's very dirty!. The staff were friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist with anything I needed. The location was perfect, and the view from my room was absolutely stunning — one of the highlights of my stay. Everything about this hotel felt high-quality, and I would definitely come back again. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserThe location is super close to the ferry terminal. Downstairs, right across the street, there's a KFC, Starbucks, and 7-Eleven, which is really convenient. The front desk staff were very patient. The only drawback is that the room is a bit old-fashioned. However, the hotel's exterior looks upscale and grand.

AAdiiiikinBack again after a year and honestly, it felt like coming home to a little slice of paradise. I didn’t realize I missed this much.
From the moment we arrived, everything just clicked. Huge shoutout to Hurin, Ying, Alam, and Jenny for remembering me (still impressed!) and for the kind of welcome that makes you feel like more than just a guest. Every greeting came with warm smiles and genuine conversations, it’s those little moments that stay with you.
Rachel also deserves a special mention for her attentiveness and thoughtful assistance throughout our stay. And that photo frame? Such a heartfelt touch, we’re definitely keeping that forever.
What I love most about this place is the peacefulness. It’s the kind of quiet that lets you actually breathe, slow down, and just be. And the farewell at the dock still touches my heart, somehow making goodbye the hardest part every single time.
If there’s one small note for management, it would be to consider upgrading the shower amenities and toiletries to something more premium to better match the overall experience and pricing.
That said, it doesn’t take away from how special this place is to me. Already looking forward to my next visit. See you again soon.

GGuest UserHighly recommended, great value for money, exceeded expectations. The owner is also very nice. I suggest bringing cash to buy seafood and having the kitchen prepare it. The three meals provided were also delicious. The water bungalows and the jelly-clear sea are incredibly dreamy. You can snorkel for free and see many fish, Nemo, and even turtles.

1. **Pros:** The water quality around Mantanani Island is excellent, and the snorkeling and diving offer stunning views. The staff are friendly, and the island scenery is definitely worth experiencing.
2. **Cons:** The island is swarming with tour groups, and there's a constant stream of elderly people and children, so it's not ideal if you're looking for a peaceful atmosphere. We stayed for three nights, paying over 4,000, and were assigned room 27, which was right next to the staff dormitory. The facilities in the room were very old. Additionally, the adjacent room housed different tour guides every day, and we couldn't see the sea at all from our room. For independent travelers paying this price, getting a room like this is truly unsatisfactory.

GGuest UserThe location is excellent. Great value for money too. During my 6-night stay, I used breakfast once, and I was satisfied with the quality. From the window, you can see the port of Jezertun directly, and across the way is Suriasbahamol. It was nice that it was close to Filipino Market and Gayatri Street, and there was a convenience store and a bank. The room cleaning wasn’t done properly, so I mentioned it, and it was fixed immediately. I changed the shower filter every other day. Best value-for-money hotel. If I go to Kota Kinabalu again, I will use it once more. A little further on there’s a Dikingsaba durian shop, and it’s delicious.
