The staff were very friendly, welcoming & very efficient. They took the time to go out of their way to make us comfortable.
The lift & room was just a little bit older around the edges, but still very good! The bed was heavenly-soft & lovely, we just wish we'd had time to rest & relax more than one night in Wellington!

Exploring our one precious worldStayed one night at James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor for a conference held onsite.
Check-in staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel has three separate lift banks servicing different areas — if you’re unfamiliar with Wellington, definitely ask staff to explain the easiest exit route to the city. It makes a big difference.
Breakfast was a very large buffet with plenty of options, though I’ve experienced better quality elsewhere.
The hotel itself is older but has solid bones. Perfectly adequate for a work overnight stay. For personal travel I’d probably choose somewhere with more atmosphere, however it felt safe and comfortable.
One odd feature: some rooms face an internal terrace/window area — remember to close your curtains as people can see straight in.
Bed was clean and well made, the room was tidy, though the carpet is showing its age. The shower had excellent pressure and plenty of hot water — a highlight.
Overall: reliable, practical conference accommodation rather than a destination stay.

Location-wise, it's right by Wellington train station, making it a great choice if you're arriving by train or heading to London.
Facilities: They're quite old. The air conditioning was one of those large, vintage units I'd never seen before, and it was incredibly noisy, so I just turned it off. The room had a microwave and cutlery, and surprisingly, a mini-bar – which you usually don't find in hotels at this price point. However, there was a snag: no price list for the mini-bar. While I knew the bottled water in the fridge wouldn't be free, I was still surprised to be charged $7 upon checkout (when a similar bottle is around $2.50 at the supermarket).
Service: The downstairs restaurant has long operating hours. I was able to order a delicious burger after a late check-in, and grab a coffee and a pastry to go during an early checkout. Most of my positive impression comes from that restaurant.

The room is actually not as big as the picture, but the sanitation is very good. The front desk is very friendly and always provides the help you need. On the first day, I gave me a map of the city. After 2 days, I measured the seaside streets and piers with my feet. It is even more friendly for passengers taking the Airport Express AX. Under the intersection of Manners Street and Willis Street, walk south on the right hand side of the uphill road. Tea and coffee tubes are enough, and chocolate. I can't drink coffee anymore, I drink chocolate, and the hotel also prepared a large cup for me intimately. Very close to Cuba Street, in fact, not far from where to go. When I left, Beth happened to be off work, went home and drove BYD, took me to the airport, and turned a corner to see the filming place of the Lord of the Rings. Really friendly. If I go to Wellington again, I will definitely choose their home.

ZorpaReally conveniently located hotel and good sized room. Really lovely helpful, staff on reception. I had booked an interior room with no window so was pleasantly surprised to have a ceiling skylight. Unfortunately the surfaces and amenities (kettle, glasses, spoons) were covered in dust. I thought it might be a ventilation issue as the high window probably doesnt open, but when I ran my finger over the desk it was a thick layer so not sure it had been cleaned for a while. I was only staying one night so didn't bother complaining but did start wheezing in the night so wish I had said something. Easily fixed for future guests with proper dusting!

The room had multiple areas of built up dust that hadn’t been cleaned in a long time, and the shower had some mould in the corner and lots of soap scum around the bottles. The silicone holes in the shower head were all cracked and so the water dribbled down. I could also smell the drain. The additional windows installed (appreciate the building is historical) didn’t shut tight, which is a big problem in a windy city. The wind was howling through the window gaps when they were fully shut. Assume they were done as cheaply as possible. I was also a few doors down from the staff room, so I heard very frequent door slamming in the mornings which woke me up as it shook my door frame. There’s no way I’d be paying for full price for this hotel, but for a 50% off deal it was fine. The location is unbeatable and the bed was really comfortable. The room was a good size too.

PacificyvonnePrivate, professional excellent staff, service and amenities. Next to Te Papa museum, close to shops, restaurants and a variety of food places, New World and entertainment venues. Excellent for families, couples or solo traveller's. Recommend the Museum Appartment Hotel, an EVT Hotel to all visitors to Wellington. I will stay here again. Thank you.

Anonymous UserThe in-room facilities, like the cabinets and drawers, were a bit dated but still functional; everything else was pretty good.
Also, I booked a King Room, but the 'king bed' was actually two twin beds pushed together. There was a gap in the middle, and if you happened to sleep there, you might accidentally shift the bed. If this bothers you, you might want to reconsider. Otherwise, everything else was decent. The room was quite spacious, and its downtown location was convenient. The only minor issue was some motorcycle noise from the street at night, but it wasn't frequent.
Finally, regarding the service, I'm docking one point here. The hotel initially requested my credit card details for their system to charge for any potential damages. This isn't an issue in itself, but the lady who checked me in explained it unprofessionally, which made me a bit wary. In reality, this charge was a pre-authorization done through a POS machine via the bank system, which is quite secure, rather than being stored in their own system. Furthermore, the receptionist took my credit card and processed the authorization herself, which I found unreasonable. At another hotel I stayed at, the front desk clearly explained it was a pre-authorization and brought the POS machine to me so I could swipe my card myself after confirming. If I swipe it myself and something goes wrong later, I'll take responsibility. But if someone else handles my card, I'll think of that incident if an issue arises, even though this particular operation seems safe. I'm just saying it's neither professional nor standard practice. She just took my credit card, and I didn't confirm the entire process. However, since no substantial problems occurred, I still find it acceptable, just a bit annoying. Other than that, everything else was quite good, and I would still recommend it, though I hope they improve their service procedures through better training.

张Especially good, the boss is also good, gave a lot of help. The hotel is clean and strategically located. At the door are KFC and McDonald's, as well as large supermarkets. Very convenient.

Anonymous UserThe check in process was very slow and the 2 males on the desk were not welcoming or friendly. The rooms were an ok size and the bed was very comfortable. The cleaners did a great job though the shower could do with a deep clean. There was no toaster in the room but it did have a microwave and kettle with tea and coffee (no hot choc). Curtains were nice and black out but there was a noisy bar court yard downstairs we could still hear quite clearly from floor 16. While there was no AC a fan and a heater were supplied. It was very close to the centre of town and did have parking if needed. We used Clifton carpark as the cheapest parking we have found in town max $26 per day.
