The room was fantastic! Our triple room on the 17th floor offered stunning mountain and water views when opening the window, creating a very tranquil setting. The rooftop boasts both open-air and indoor hot springs ♨️, available for unlimited free use with your room key card. The water temperature was perfect, and soaking in the springs, sipping tea, and watching the sunset was pure bliss! The buffet breakfast was quite generous. The room was notably spacious, especially for Japan. Complimentary amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and cotton pads are available for pick-up at the front desk. Rooms receive a light daily service (replacing amenities, emptying trash, but not changing linens), with a full cleaning every two days. Complimentary bottled water is provided, and the bathroom includes a bathtub 🛁. The front desk staff provided excellent, warm, and attentive service – Japanese hospitality is truly outstanding 👍.

Our stay has been nothing short of amazing! We were grateful for hotel shuttle service to the hotel as it saves us the trouble of climbing up slopes with our luggages. When we arrived, we were greeted by the warm welcome of the staff with free drinks provided at the lounge. The Sora Room is well equipped with amenities and comes with the private onsen, for you to enjoy any time. Recommend to get the ice (outside room) for a cool ice coke after onsen. Definitely have to give the Japanese breakfast and Kaiseiki dinner a try. Every single dish is so delicious and palatable. The hotel is located at Kanawa, within walking distances to the popular attractions such as Hells of Beppu and Onsen Museum. Will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who visits Beppu!
Excellent, absolutely fantastic! The room is quite spacious, with a separate bedroom and other areas, plus a small sofa. The 14th floor has a large public bath, and the 15th floor boasts a rooftop pool with views of both mountains and the sea! (Remember to bring your swimsuit!) The breakfast is also amazing, with tempura, seafood bowls, Oita kamameshi, unlimited spicy mentaiko, and even sparkling wine. The front desk staff can speak Chinese, English, and Japanese, and they offer luggage storage. The lobby has a very stylish design. Plus, there are many super affordable public bathhouses nearby.
Baien is truly the best. The private open-air bath and the large public bath are both excellent. (Note: Be sure to confirm the private open-air bath when booking your ryokan stay.) The ryokan is spacious, so walks around the property are lovely. Both breakfast and dinner (kaiseki) are also superb. However, there's no entertainment nearby, so if your sole purpose is to enjoy the hot springs, you definitely won't regret it. I'd love to visit again in winter.
The location is great for shopping and dining. There's a paid parking lot with plenty of spaces. The room was new, clean, and even had a kitchen and washing machine. The bed was super comfortable. This will definitely be my top choice next time I visit Beppu.
We went to Fukuoka for Chinese New Year, and since my husband loves hot springs, we decided to stay two nights in Yufuin. The inn's location was superb, close to Lake Kinrin, and very quiet. Just a short walk away was Yufuin main street.
We booked late, so our only option was a Japanese-Western style room without a private hot spring, which was a pity and a bit disappointing for my husband.
Our 'one-night, two-meals' plan was incredibly filling, featuring what seemed like kaiseki cuisine plus either wagyu barbecue or wagyu shabu-shabu. I'm not really an expert on kaiseki, but I could definitely tell the food was exquisite and fresh.
Since we don't speak Japanese, the inn assigned a young, English-speaking waitress to attend to us throughout our stay, which was very thoughtful. As I mentioned, the food portions had many courses, and we were quite full by the end. When the waitress asked if we wanted rice and we replied 'just a little,' she seemed genuinely concerned, thinking perhaps we didn't like the food 😅. I wanted to tell her we were simply already full.
As for the downsides, my husband found the toilet a bit far from the sink, especially in the private toilet within the bedroom. The inn also didn't offer laundry service; staff advised us to use the laundromat on the main market street if we needed to wash clothes. In the end, we decided against it and waited until we returned to Fukuoka to do our laundry at the hotel there.
Also, I imagine the inn is a traditional Japanese establishment, and the staff are quite principled. We were late arriving due to unfamiliarity with the transport, so dinner was pushed back to around 7:30 PM. They seemed a little displeased but remained composed. On our way back, as our preferred train/bus tickets were sold out, we had to leave earlier. The inn was accommodating with our breakfast time. We initially asked them to reduce the portion for the child and just serve scrambled eggs, but they insisted on serving the full original portions, telling us to eat as much as we could. Their reasoning was that since we had paid, we should receive the full amount we ordered, which we respected. We simply didn't want to waste food.
Overall, we were satisfied and really appreciated the Japanese culture and traditional decor in all aspects.
The hotel environment is really nice, and it comes with a private hot spring. The dinner and breakfast provided were also delicious. It's about a kilometer from Yufuin town, and the hotel offers bicycles for guests to use. They also have a shuttle service to the station, which is very convenient.
Make sure to check the room amenities carefully. I booked this place and only realized after receiving an email that there was no private bathroom and that I'd have to use a shared one. However, it was clean and odor-free. If your room is on the 3rd floor, the stairs are quite high, so if you have large luggage or mobility issues, you should definitely consider that. I was a bit nervous about the cat mentioned in previous reviews, as I'm allergic. Turns out the cat is very well-behaved and stays mostly in the lobby on the ground floor; you barely even see it, so that was fine.
This beautiful Ryokan is over 100 years old with deep heritage. I like that it stay as it is as if time stood still. So full of character. I was drawn to the onsens featuring beautiful outdoor views. You'll get to enjoy indoor and outdoor onsens here.. You get to try different types of onsens as they switch around. The highlight was the mountain view, the tranquility that some accommodation lacks due to the amount of guests. Here, you see mostly adults, hence irs ideal for people looking for a quieter retreat. Finally I was absolutely blown away by the wagyu beef at each dinner buffet. The Oita beef was of good quality and there was crab legs and so many variety of seafood and Oita specialty. Breakfast did not disappoint. Love the Yufuin milk and the pudding. Service staff was very attentive too. Ideally for non driving travellers. A short walk to the station and kinrin river.
I was a bit hesitant before booking, thinking the hotel might be a little old. However, it turned out to be the best of the three hotels I stayed at during my Kyushu trip. The breakfast was incredibly rich and deserves a special mention. The surrounding area is very convenient. The only downsides were that the elevators were often busy, and the step into the bathroom in the room could be difficult for elderly guests with mobility issues. On a side note, I had dinner at the restaurant downstairs and wasn't very satisfied. The service was slow and disorganized. I had to ring the bell many times before anyone came. The staff also didn't seem to know their own menu well. When it came to paying, I forgot if I could use the coupon the hotel provided, and the cashier didn't remind me. I feel like I missed out on a good deal.

AAnonymous UserThe room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. The location is good if you drive but is about 1km walk to Beppu Tower and a bit more from the night street. But I’d happily trade that for the spacious room and the wonderful sea and sunrise view.

EEinfachDillonThe hostel was very nice and had a cozy charm to it. I also met some very nice people there. There is an Onsen in the hostel, and you can get a satisfying breakfast for around 800 Yen. The owner was very kind and offers evening walks (which I highly recommend) and a ride to the station in the morning. The only downside is that it's an around 30 minutes walk uphill from Floral Village, but the view from there is worth it.
All in all I highly recommend it!
XXianrenzhangzhiwuThe location is fantastic, right next to the JR station and the bus terminal. I've stayed at this hotel chain before in Hokkaido, and they consistently offer complimentary late-night noodles from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM. The hotel also has its own hot spring on the top floor and even provides various flavored ice creams, which the kids absolutely loved. The room was quite spacious with a great wet/dry bathroom separation. Highly recommend!
GGuest UserThis is our 2nd time to stay in this hotel. The 1st time was 10 years ago, the hotel guest rooms have renovated which is quite Modern. Love the new design. The Seaview is still spectacular. Bed and pillow are very comfortable. Onsan is located at basement , an highlight is there is Basket Robins ice cream machine is available 🙂
There is a night drink bar in the hotel at the lobby level, wines , coffee, soft drinks are served.
Breakfast area is spacious , western & Japanese food are served, donuts, pancakes , noodles, vege drinks , all you can choose.

GGuest UserEverything is perfect, the location, the service and the cleanliness.
Would be nice if you can provide bigger towels in the room
Will stay again
GGuest UserWe checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me.
I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement.
GGuest UserIt’s perfect for watching sunrise as our room was facing direct east. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and we couldn’t watch that. Location wise is perfect if looking for a getaway in tranquility, otherwise got to drive out for dining or convenience stores. Hotel staff is very polite and friendly. They also serve afternoon snack around 3pm. A very nice gesture especially for guests waiting for check in.
