Amazing front desk support, proximity to the town, nearby parking and very central yet quiet. Highly recommended! Special thanks to Pedro (😊)

We are just back from a beautiful stay here. It was our first time taking our 2 year old abroad, and so were a bit nervous about what to expect, however it was a brilliant experience for us all! All of the staff at Cerro Malpique were so friendly and helpful and they all took time to chat to our little one/give him high 5s whenever he passed them by. We opted for a 1 bedroom apartment and were delighted by how spacious it was. The staff had set up a travel cot in the bedroom for our wee one, and we slept on the sofa bed in the living room. The apartment was clean and fresh with a lovely balcony. The pool area was perfect for us and never too busy to get a lounger. The terrace beside the pool has stunning views over the sea. The location was brilliant, the steps weren't too much of a hassle and there is a way to get to the town avoiding them if you walk out past the Aldi. Cannot recommend Albufeira more and these appartments!

lovely apartments in great location close to the old town - fantastic sea views from our 3rd floor apartment - staff very accommodating and ensured our bags were all moved to and from the apartment upon arrival and departure - also arranged a coach trip for us wifi bit temperamental in the apartment but bearable - pool quiet during the time we were there apart from a few noisy lads one day late in the afternoon late in the week surrounding area hilly and if you intend visiting the new town on a regular basis be prepared !!!

Lovely apartment and lovely staff. But not for families or couples. The clientele for these apartments are young stag parties and young men who hog the pool and blast loud music. If you don't mind swearing then bring your children down to the small pool area. Talking to staff this is a decision management have made for economic reasons which I get. You have been warned or encouraged whichever group you fall into

I stayed here with friends for a birthday trip in May. The hotel is split into 2 different buildings, both with pools but around a 5 minute drive away from each other. The whole building and pool area was very clean and enjoyable to use. The location is just a 10 minute walk from the old town and beach. Our apartment kitchenette was well equipped with a microwave, hob, toaster and kettle. Although, it would have been nice to be provided things like salt and pepper to save us buying it for such a short trip. Our balcony was larger than expected and had a sea view. The only issue we had was the wifi not working when we arrived and when it was supposedly fixed, it was extremely slow/barely working. The water in the shower was almost always lukewarm or cold. Overall I would recommend this hotel to a friend and would probably stay here again.

Not long back from a 9 night stay here. We have always stayed at the sister hotel closer to the ***** alfagar village. Faultless flights and transfers with jet2. We arrived in resort around 12.30 and our room was ready which was great as official checkin is 4, We wasn’t in main hotel but a 5/10 min walk away but we got taken in mini bus . We had a 2 bed superior apt which was absolutely lovely, Looked like it had a mini glow up. Bedrooms were really big plenty of space as a family of 4, My 2 are 20 and 16 and over 6ft and there was more than enough space in their room. It had everything you could need for SC Although no oven which I only discovered last day . Lol I don’t cook on holiday but some might do just check first. Always had an overnight in the village. The room was spotless and cleaners also came in a few times while we were there. Not sure I’d book superior again as balcony was must smaller than first floor. We were in 2 nd floor which did have lovely views but we had Ltd space couldn’t all fit around table and no sun alday on balcony. I did request ground floor which at village has always been granted. I have RA and fibro , I do keep myself quite fit but because area so hilly the stairs to apt were a killer lol. There is a safe in main bedroom which is free and good aircon which is also free. As mentioned before we did have groups of boys and girls , teens to early 20s but honestly they were all lovely kids and all very polite. We were woken one time at 4 am but they were leaving . A lot has been mentioned about walk into town which is only 500 m away but stairs of doom coming back after a meal and cocktails was a killer. Unfortunately we kind of had to go to main square most evenings due to hotel being in a residential area , with no real bars or shops. We did find one behind hotel which did the most amazing foods and host was fantastic, Joseph’s . Unfortunately again any one with mobility issues may struggle. As no real footpaths and part busy road but again it was the hills. Definatly worth trying though. There is also an Aldi and Lidl about a 10/15 min walk away but again terribly steep. We went wrong way on way back , and nearly ended up divorced lol Unless you book a taxi don’t do a large shop. It would have been nice to have a mini market on site . Can’t fault old town we eat in some lovely places try back streets don’t stick to the square , prices are similar to home tbh . We spent around €100/150 a day. All in all we had a lovely holiday any staff we encountered in hotel were all really friendly. Not sure it’s great if you have younger children as not a lot going on other than pool, But if you get a wrist band they will call you a cab and you can go over and use all four hotel’s facilities, Irish family we were neighboured with did that most days as their boys were 10 and 13. I was worried about going to this hotel after staying at their main site nearer new town for 9 years but all the usual standards were met. I’d r

1st time to portugal The apartments are clean ,tidy and everything you need The sunlounge area is ideal Only downfall is the amount of hilly stairs and amount of steps to get to the front Apart from the steps I would come back here as very central to the old town The atmosphere and area is beautiful

Spent 9 nights here in these self catering appartments .We were welcomed by a very pleasant young lady at reception, the room wasn't ready but as it was only 11am we didn't expect it to be , so off we went to get some shopping from one of two supermarkets less than 10 minutes walk away , by the time we got back to the appartments our room was ready , room 402 , on entering we found it to be huge with a very spacious and separate kitchen , the appartment itself had plenty of storage spaces a 4 seater dining table , TV with all the British stations , and a lovely comfy bed , the Wfi was very hit and miss , you could get a connection some days and nothing other days. Our balcony overlooked the pool area and also had a stunning sea view , the bathroom was adequate but had a window in it that anyone walking past could look through , so we blocked it off with a paper carrier bag , there were always plenty of sun beds available altho many were broken .it's about a 10 minute walk down to the main square , and if you choose to walk back we counted 100 steps back up , so for those less agile than others it's a bit of a trek , altho you could get a taxi for 5 euros .There are no bars or resturants near to the appartments except Josephs bar which is 5 minutes walk and is well worth a visit for their lovely food .Overall tho we would definitely stay here again .

Stopped hear for a late 4-night getaway. For a 3-star hotel, generally really pleased with the place. Clean, friendly and very chilled out. Only a 10 minute walk down hill/steps to main square. Bit of a hike back up the 98 steps and small hill, but can get a taxi for 6 euro. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Response from Property: Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your comments. It is great to hear that you have thoroughly enjoyed your experience at Alfagar and thank you for being such a great ambassador for our Hotel. Hopefuly we have the pleasure to see you back one day. Kind regards,

We liked the pools, the deck on our room. Also close to the grocery store. The one major issue that was never resolved was the lack of working wifi in the lower block where we were. It did not work for the 3 nights / 4 days that we were there. The staff did not seem to know how to resolve the issues indicating it was a different provider for the lower block and theirs was working at the reception. It was still not working when we left. We were relying on the wifi at our accommodations and this was a major issue for us.

A disappointing stay following the recommendation from someone who stayed there last year. A frosty welcome from the gentleman on reception. No mini bus transfer from reception to the apartment or directions, so a walk around trying to find our room/block pulling our cases in the sunshine wasn't a great start. The accommodation was quiet and spacious. Very dated and tired, but clean. On the day of departure I called for the mini bus to collect us and our cases but no one answered so yet again pulling our cases back to reception. We wouldn't recommend or stay there again. We witnessed lots of other guests being transferred back and forth from reception in the mini bus during our 4 night stay. There are many other hotels and apartments in the area to choose from which are far better. Great flights and transfers with Jet2.

First it's important to understand that the Alfagar Cerro Malpique has two locations. The main buildings are in Rua do Malpique, and the secondary location is a separate building at Rua António Aleixo ±32-34. The main location has fantastic views over Albufeira, particularly from the rooftop pool. The secondary location is further up the hill, over the brow of the hill, also with a good view but not as good as the main location. Reception is at the main location, and there is no reception at the secondary location. From the main location, you can walk down almost 100 steps to the main square in the old town. Although the secondary location is further up the hill, it has an alternative route to the old town and more directly to the beach, which feels a lot easier than the steps of the other route. It is around 13 minutes' walk to and from the beach from the secondary location. We stayed at the secondary location. There is very poor sound insultation between rooms, particularly vertically. You can suffer significant disturbance from guests above you, for example footsteps, dragging furniture and baggage, and dropping objects on the floor. I believe this disturbance could be almost eliminated by requesting a room on the top floor. I would have given the hotel a rating of only 4 because of the noise disturbance, but a further star is merited in view of the excellent service. Jose is one of the most helpful and guest-focussed hotel staff that I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. He manages both locations, and seems to be involved in every task to meet guests' needs. When we arrived, the guest transport to the secondary location was out of service, so he helped us to take our baggage up the hill. When the wifi didn't work because of a fault with the router in our room, he immediately attended to replace it. When my own power adapter got stuck in the socket in the bathroom, he sent someone to extract it and lend us a replacement adapter. He turned every problem into a solution. The wifi in the secondary location is around 32-66Mbps, compared to a whopping 291Mbps in reception in the main location. If you have problems with the wifi, it's probably because your device is connecting to a faulty router in a neighbouring room with the same SSID. The management seem very competent in fixing such issues. The television has an impressive range of channels, including BBC World and all the main UK domestic channels. For the kitchen, take your own washing up liquid, sponges and tea towels. The large kitchen is otherwise well-equipped with a fridge, microwave and hob. After you check out, there are cold showers below the pool at the main location or hot showers below the pool at the secondary location. There is an Aldi a short walk away and a larger Lidl across the main road from Aldi.
