Our second visit, which says a lot. (We don't return to rip off joints!) Nice friendly place to stay. A warm welcome, nice staff, good food in decent sized portions with quick service. Comfortable and smart room. Can't really ask for more. Recommended.

What a great find. A group of 12 of us stayed over the Mayday Weekend. Absolutely brilliant hotel. Rooms very good with good showers. We ate at the restaurant on two of the nights. Very good food and served all together. Breakfasts were excellent. Lots of choice.(2 fried bread with 2 fried bread. Thank you chef.). Nice bar area with good choice of beers and wines. Good base for the Alnwick area. Walked to Boulmer and Alnmouth. Bus back, stops by hotel. Finally, a big thank you to all the staff at the Oaks for looking after us. You were all so friendly and helpful. Would thoroughly recommend the Oaks. Dave T.

I have stayed previously at this hotel, hence the return visit, this time I stayed in a family room on the ground floor. The room was a great size, comfortable, well appointed with a large bathroom. The staff as before were welcoming, helpful and friendly, breakfast was good with a choice of continental and/or cooked. We ate in the restaurant for dinner on the last night of our stay, the menu provided a reasonable choice and was good quality. The hotel is only a 10 minute walk into the town of Alnwick so is positioned ideally for the Castle and gardens also a very large second hand book store situated in the old railway station. I would definitely recommend the Oaks Hotel if you are wanting to explore the area for a few days and want a comfortable and homely place to stay.

Stopped of on our long drive home from Edinburgh and did not disappoint! Beautiful and plentiful Carvery and friendly staff. One of the best Sunday lunches we've ever had! Thoroughly recommend! Good range of beers to accompany the meal. Amazing crackling!

We had visited a few eateries on our 5 day trip to Alnwick. This was by far the best meal we had all week. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was good quality and reasonably priced. I can reccomend the chicken supreme and sticky toffee pudding. My husband also enjoyed his steak and cheesecake. Washed down with a good bottle of red wine. Will definitely go again when we visit the area.

The bar/ restaurant area and the decor are fairly good if a little dated. We had pre-booked an ‘OAP’ special Lunch and the staff were not particularly welcoming. We had mentioned at the point of booking that the diners were vegetarians. We had also been led to believe that there was a degree of choice from the menu we had been shown. Nothing could have been further from the case. We had barely sat down when a warm bowl of pea and ham soup ( as we later discovered ) was put in front of us both, though at the time we assumed it was a vegetarian split pea soup only. We were then asked if we were ready for our main course. A roast turkey dinner!!!! When questioned, the staff member told us that it was a set menu and there was no choice! Upon mentioning that we had pre booked as vegetarians, we were offered the dinner with the turkey left off the plate and a lukewarm, tasteless veggie gravy. To say it was mediocre is being kind. Then, a scoop of cheap ice cream was dumped in front of us for our ‘delectation’. Then, upon paying the bill, to add insult to injury, we were asked to pay £10 more than the price of the set meal plus drinks. We felt as if we were treated as two infantile old codgers who would have just paid without questioning the bill. Needless to say, there will not be a return visit. A much better lunch can be had for vegetarians at Grannies Tea Room, Carlo’s, Greggs or Barter Books Cafe.

A delightful 3* hotel on the outskirts of Alnwick: Warm and welcoming with plentiful, good food, hand pulled beer and spotlessly clean throughout. The Staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious with a large wardrobe with plenty of hangers, plenty of drawers and good size bedside tables. We had a large, wall mounted television, queen size bed and the wi-fi worked well in the bedroom. There were plenty of towels, the bathroom was very warm and spacious and the bath and shower was very clean and well-stocked. The sliding sash window was easy to operate, very well draught-proofed and there was very little discernible noise from outside, especially. when the blinds and curtains were drawn. The rooms are serviced daily and there is ample parking. The centre of the Town is only 10 minutes walk from the Hotel and we particularly commend The Tanners Arms and Harry's Bar if you like fine ale and good company. All-in-all a delightful experience

The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The hotel was very dog-friendly, (they even provided the dog with a sausage for his breakfast!). The hotel is comfortable and convenient for the town. The food was good as well. We enjoyed a thoroughly good weekend. Thank you.

Nice pub with nice a**osphere. The food was good although my vegetarian friend was limited to a choice of one meal on the night we were there. One of the desserts had a very tough base which was quite difficult to eat, did mention this and we were not charged for it.
