To start with: Owner was very helpful and prompt during reservation process, info, details etc. Very pleased. During the whole stay we had a designated “boat driver”, Mr. Vasile. Skilled, helpful, mindful of the other boats and wild life, right amount of information. No unnecessary chit chat. Music choice is a matter of taste :). Trip from TULCEA took 1 1/2 hours - 1 hour more than originally informed. When asked about it, was told that we got the scenic route. Complimentary drinks at arrival: small local rakie and soft juice. Nice touch. Very pleased with the rooms: well designed and proportioned, very clean, lining and towels all white, changed daily if needed. The air condition works as intended. Not the room TV. As a side note, you might want to ask for front view rooms as the back ones are facing some sort of a small swamp which is a bit smelly and full of mosquitoes. Decent pool, hotel provides towels. During the entire stay, the food is a variation of more of the same. Soup is very tasty. No trip to fishing Village. Trip to Sulina was great. What we didn’t appreciate very much was the service: Water was never offered, neither was the wine at dinner even though it was mentioned in the offer. (Except for day 1). However, we were offered the local drinks instead because I mentioned it tasted well - but that was hotel’s choice, not ours. Not a big thing as we are not drinkers but still. Second day we had the Delta trip from 10 AM. I was told it was 2 hours. We arrived after 3 and was pretty annoyed to learn that lunch was not ready for another hour considering we had kids who didn’t eat since 8:30. That’s very poor planning. Also, whenever we asked what’s for dinner, the reply was invariably “we don’t know”. And it ended up being the same as before … We were also told to only eat small snacks in Sulina as food is not so great so we will work an appetite for final dinner. Glad we didn’t listen. Food was actually very good and the final dinner ended up being a bit disappointing. Asked for a plain, filter black coffee at the bar, “ sorry I don’t know how to make it”. I was “are you for real?” We also found it unprofessional for the staff to sit at the table next to us smoking (we do not smoke), while there were still items missing from the breakfast/dinner table and we had to point it out. In contrast, we were never asked if we need anything which is always the golden rule of hospitality. Overall a good experience, worth having it. Location is great and they do have a lot of good assets.
