Western Budget Motel #2 Grande Prairie

This hotel was very accommodating, we stayed there due to work. The kitchenette we had was newly renovated, clean, comfy bed, the newer juccuzzi was great to have in the room also. The housekeepers are very amazing, friendly and hard workers, they make sure you have everything you need. The breakfast is great (awesome omelets). Front desk staff are very friendly and also make sure you have everything you need. The manager is great, she does a great job at making your stay comfortable. I would recommend this hotel, and we definately will be back if in Grande Prairie again. The only thing I wish, was if the pool was open (it was under maintenance).

I stayed at this place while being evacuated from the Northwest Territories du to forest fires. The staff were excellent to myself, and other evacuees. The next time I go to Grande Prairie on personal time I plan on staying at this place. The rooms are bigger than other hotel/motel rooms. The fridge is not the standard hotel/motel tiny fridge, but a full size refrigerator.

Grande Prairie Western Budget - I would suggest thinking twice before staying here if you are a family with kids. Let's start with the positive: - the cleaning staff are quite friendly - the bedrooms and halls are clean. My concerns (not in order): - They preauthorize your card 3 times and then charge it and release the preauthorzation the evening of the day you check out. - If you have more than 2 people in your room, you only receive 2 hot breakfast coupons, so parents with kids have to decide who eats hot breakfast and who does not. - It doesn't matter if you request a ground floor room or not, you get what you get. I requested a ground level room when booking as I have 3 kids ad we travel with a collapsible wagon. No sane person wants 3 kids bouncing around above them either. We ended up the 2nd floor - no elevator just stairs to get everything up. - the beds are super hard - felt like I was sleeping on the floor.. the kids felt the same, so little sleep was had. - My BIGGEST complaint with our stay here -- the cook for hot breakfast announcemened he was sick for the second day outside the building, came in and announced to everyone he could that he was sick, then sat for an hour in the kitchen eating area and coughed and complained on being sick. When he finally did leave there was NO sanitizing of the areas he was in and around... with COVID shut down ending just last year, I think sanitation and avoidance of passing on sickness should be a concern in the hospitality industry. When I expressed my concerns about all of this, the girl at the front desk enjoyed huffing and rolling her eyes. I assured her me and my family would not be staying here again. For the price paid, its worth paying a bit more and staying somewhere else.
