"Mixed Experience – Great Location, Poor Internet & Breakfast Setup The hotel is in a great location, and the room itself was clean, spacious, and comfortable. Facilities like the car park and lifts were well maintained and met expectations. However, as business travellers, the internet connection was a major letdown. The hotel appears to rely on a hotspot system, which was extremely unreliable—slow speeds and constant disconnections all weekend. Streaming services such as Netflix were unusable, and even basic browsing was frustrating. To make matters worse, the remote control had nearly dead batteries and worked intermittently. We were also disappointed with the rest and breakfast experience. After early starts each day, we were hoping for some quiet downtime in the afternoon, but this was hard to enjoy given the other issues. The weekend breakfast arrangement felt misleading. Instead of onsite breakfast, we received a $20 per person voucher to a nearby café. While the café was pleasant, it only opened at 7:30 am on weekends—not ideal when you're starting work at 6:30–7:00 am. And realistically, $20 doesn’t go far at most cafés these days, so it felt like a cost-cutting workaround rather than a genuine breakfast offering. On a positive note, Clara at reception on Saturday was professional and kind—she did her best to assist, though unfortunately there wasn’t much she could do. It seemed like her manager may have been present but avoided getting involved, which was disappointing given the situation."

"The hotel was extremely customer friendly. We had booked an ocean view room and they initially did not put us in that. When we went to get it corrected, they not only put us in an oceanview room but also gave us free breakfast for two days. The staff was incredibly friendly. The location was super convenient.Overall was a fantastic stop."

"Hotels in Cairns tend to be a bit on the pricier side, which is to be expected for a tourist city. This one is conveniently located, just a 10-minute walk from the reef departure terminal, and there's a large chain supermarket nearby. The room was also quite clean."

"I stayed here twice - the first time, an ordinary room, the 2nd time, I thought maybe the Horizon Club might be a higher level. Before I say anything, I may choose to stay again for the location! This property is not 'Shangri-LA' as you would expect - the windows are all dirty which is disappointing for 'Marina View' rooms... The Horizon lounge furniture is closer to school lunch hall style, and the dinner - well, I don't eat in food halls with sausage rolls and spring rolls. We ate in the main street which was AWESOME!. The ping pong table is bent, bats are without surface, and the air hockey machine without pucks.. Basically a 'cashing in on the brand' experience..."

"This booking is one of the rare ones I had serious dissatisfaction so I had to write a long review. First the information on the booking page is not fully transparent. We were only made aware that the 2 bedroom suite we booked does not offer daily room cleaning service. Cleaning service comes in only every 3 days of stay (so for 5 nights we stayed, the room was cleaned only once!) If this was well informed, I probably would not consider booking this room. Second, the service was almost non-existent. When they said clean towels can be offered upon request, the towels were literally left on the table top immediate behind the front door. On the “clean day”, we were amazed to find toilet brush and bin left on the closed toilet bowl, ants were spotted near the sink, tissue boxes were not refilled, and pillow cases had clear sign of dirty marks. Despite a 5-night stay, hotel didn’t allow any late check out beyond 12pm. Front desk insisted an hourly fee and different people were giving different fee rates. This was again confusing and disappointing. Pls also note overnight parking is charged at $12 per night. Breakfast offered at $28/pax had limited choices (basic international breakfast) Other than above, the room is generally clean. We didn’t have a chance to explore other parts of the hotel so no comment on the amenities. The location was fantastic, within walking distance to the pier and good selection of food options."

"A bit outdated rooms and foyer areas..is in need for a good renovation. The beds were too soft for my tastes , but the pillows compensated for it. Other than that , everything was perfect. The best part of double tree are the warm cookies they offer on arrival. I had requested the recipe for the same, which the team happily obliged. A very friendly staff and really helpful. Rooms were clear and well sized. Keep up the good work."

"I recently stayed at Southern Cross Atrium Apartments and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is definitely one of the highlights—it’s conveniently situated within walking distance of the ferry terminal, which was perfect for my Great Barrier Reef outing. Additionally, having supermarkets nearby made it easy to pick up groceries and essentials, adding to the convenience. The room itself was well-equipped, especially for longer stays. It came with a full set of cooking utensils and kitchen facilities, which made it easy to prepare meals and feel at home. However, one drawback was the WiFi. The signal in the room was quite weak, which made it difficult to get online consistently. This was a bit frustrating, especially when I needed to do some research or planning for the next day’s activities. I often had to move around to find a better signal, which wasn’t ideal. Overall, Southern Cross Atrium Apartments offers great value with its prime location and self-contained rooms, but improving the WiFi would make the stay even better for travelers who need reliable internet access."

The hotel’s location is another big plus – right on the Esplanade, it’s only steps away from the Lagoon, restaurants, and the marina for reef tours. Overall, Crystalbrook Flynn is perfect for those looking for more than just a place to stay – it’s an experience. Energetic, stylish, and fun, it suits couples, groups of friends, and anyone who wants to enjoy the best of Cairns in a modern, luxurious setting."

"No breakfast. Not a hotel, it is an apartment. There is a kitchen in the room, the pots and pans are all in order, and you can cook. Even the waiter did not, just the gentleman at the front desk, everything is looking for him. Can be an extra bed, just met a Shanghai family to stay, heard that they said to have an extra bed, it seems to be 65 knives. I don't know how to answer the questions with children, I don't know what the point of attention is. Hotel location is OK, opposite the public open-air swimming pool of lagoon, 5 minutes walk to the pier. There is a parking lot."

"The apartment is located at a very good location. All the apartments come with first-line sea view. There are lots of celebrity restaurant nearby. Minutes' walk to the great barrier reef ferry terminal, Lagoon, Night Market. Very spacious apartment with 2 bathrooms, seperate laundry, and a large balcony. We chilled in the balcony with drinks, looking at the ocean. The building comes with 2 pools, spa, and sauna. Good security with intercom and elevator access control. The only downside is the fitting is a bit dated and some ants in the apartment. But it doesn't affect the holiday. I would recommend this place for family holiday."
