"We are a family of three from Singapore. This is our first time visiting Riyue Bay in Haikou. We love surfing and saw an advertisement for UECHAO Surfing Resort online, which looked very interesting. So we decided to visit and experience this only artificial wave pool in China during our May holiday. Our first impression of the hotel was that they were friendly, provided professional service, and were always responsive to guests' requests. The hotel's decor was novel and unique; we especially loved the coffee table designed with surfboard elements, which perfectly matched the surfing theme. The rooms were clean, tidy, and comfortable. The food offered at the hotel was delicious and varied, giving us many choices. In addition, the hotel provided complimentary laundry service, which we found particularly thoughtful. Absolutely love it. ❤️ Here, I must say that this first artificial wave pool in China truly deserves its reputation as a world-class wave pool. The strength of the artificial waves is comparable to that of real ocean waves. We especially love its Malibu waves, which make us feel as if we are surfing in the sea of Malibu. This surfing experience brought us many surprises and a lot of joy. Turely enjoyable. The hotel is also about a 5-minute walk from Riyue Bay Beach. The Riyue Bay business street has lots of local restaurants and cafes, and there are street dance performances at night, making it very lively. I highly recommend UECHAO Surfing Resort to everyone.👍🏻"

"Our stay this time was absolutely perfect! I had originally booked a standard room, but upon arrival, the hotel thoughtfully upgraded us to a Thai-style villa free of charge, which was such a wonderful surprise! The villa featured high, wooden ceilings that were incredibly stylish, and the living room was spacious and comfortable. The Thai-style soft furnishings were tastefully arranged, with blue and white throw pillows complementing the solid wood furniture perfectly. Being in the room felt like a Southeast Asian getaway, the atmosphere was just incredible. Not only was the hardware superb, but the service was also impeccable. From check-in to everyday needs, the staff were incredibly attentive and thoughtful. Their response time was quick, and they even proactively asked about our needs and offered suggestions for activities. The care in every detail made us feel especially welcome. The bedding in the room was soft and skin-friendly, and the bathroom facilities and amenities were all high-quality; you could really feel the hotel's dedication in every detail. The surrounding environment was serene, surrounded by lush greenery, offering a truly immersive holiday experience. I will definitely choose this hotel again next time!"

"The Four Points by Sheraton offers excellent value for money. While the facilities are a bit dated, it didn't detract from our experience. Upon arrival, we found the hotel service to be exceptional. It's also very close to the beach, perfect for taking great photos. Before checking in, a butler contacted me – my butler, John, was incredibly thoughtful. He helped me book activities in advance and provided directions to the hotel. The hotel's photography service was also fantastic!"

"The hotel's location is excellent, with a balcony offering sea views. The hotel's private beach is right downstairs, making it very convenient for taking photos and just relaxing without having to leave the premises – perfect for a vacation. Right across from the hotel entrance is a commercial street, so dining is also very convenient. Our butler, Mile, proactively added us on WeChat and helped arrange a travel photoshoot. They also pre-arranged transportation to Shenzhou Station for our departure, which was incredibly helpful."

"The hotel more looks like a bed and breakfast than a 4 star hotel. The room we booked was really small, around 12 square meters. With a balcony outside to sit. However, the view does not worth sitting and many other neighbors are just checking you. The room itself was clean, but inside the community isn't very clean at all. Probably, the highest disappointment comes from the public swimming pool which is a really tiny swimming pool. Their swimming pool is around 2.5 meters to 2.5 meters. So if you're coming to have a nice swimming experience, don't even think about it in this hotel. We booked a room with breakfast included which was around 50 yuan more expensive than if we didn't want any breakfast. Let me be honest with you, their breakfast doesn't worth at all. There's no salad, no seasonal fruit, no bread, no coffee (broken coffee machine) and no desert. Forget all the things you can find in breakfast of normal 4 start hotel, It's just some dumplings, egg and simple corn which you can buy from any shop outside for less than 10 yuan all of them. Overall, the price doesn't fit the service you receive, specifically about the swimming pool and breakfast."

"This is my second review after extending my stay at Le Méridien. Let me start by sharing my experience and research on Le Méridien's star attraction, the Horizon Restaurant. Before coming here, I saw many hotel food bloggers raving about Le Méridien's sea-view restaurant, calling it the top 1 among all coastal resorts in China. I didn't pay much attention then, thinking it might be a promotional stunt. However, after dining at Horizon Restaurant these past two days, I realized that beyond the stunning views, Le Méridien genuinely put a lot of thought into building this restaurant. I've explored China's coastline from Dandong City's Donggang City Dalu Island in Liaoning all the way down to Tianjin, Hebei, Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hainan. I've visited many islands and 99% of the famous coastal cities. This restaurant is built directly on the beach without any protective measures, primarily facing the ebb and flow of the tide. The restaurant's beach is located deeper inside Shimei Bay, where the tide changes slowly, by only about 1 meter. To provide guests with a safer and better viewing experience, the designers elevated the restaurant. At low tide, you can enjoy an elevated 'god's-eye view' of the sea, and at high tide, you can enjoy a sea-level view. There's a hidden gem to the left of the restaurant's beach: an estuary of a small inland river. You can experience paddleboarding through the river and surfing at the estuary (Figures 1 and 2). Next, let me talk about Le Méridien's ubiquitous homage to Hainan's local Li and Miao ethnic cultures. As you enter the lobby, you'll see lamp pavilions on both sides, three hollow metal spheres in the lobby, and ornaments above the beds in the guest rooms (Figures 3, 4, and 5), all showcasing Chinese symmetrical aesthetics. The rooms feature two washbasins, one on each side (Figures 6 and 7). I'm a brand enthusiast, and the bathroom fixtures in the rooms are from the top-tier brand Kohler. Even more impressively, the faucets and showerheads are from Kohler's high-end Mema black bronze collection (Figures 8, 9, and 10). Le Méridien is a classic 18-year-old hotel, and the overall facilities are very well-maintained. The sliding doors are the best proof of this (Figures 11 and 12). When I went to the gym, I was amazed to find that Le Méridien's gym is equipped with an entire row of Technogym KINESIS comprehensive training walls – a rare sight in China, even rarer than pandas (Figures 13 and 14). Another highlight of Le Méridien is its public areas. I spent the past two days learning and improving myself in the public areas, walking over 10,000 steps daily. I found that walking around Le Méridien is not tiring at all, and there's no need to worry about bumps or obstacles. All public areas are designed with gentle slopes and barrier-free access. From the observation deck, you get a panoramic view of Shimei Bay. This naturally formed semi-circular bay is absolutely perfect, with good waves and a beautiful beach. The sound of waves crashing against the rocks provides a deeply therapeutic and sophisticated experience. Behind it, there's a large area of 'Qingpi' forest, making it my overall Top 1 choice (second video). The third video offers a 'god's-eye view' of Shimei Bay from a drone, showing the vast Qingpi forest below. Le Méridien Hotel is embraced by this forest, located only about 1.9 kilometers from the Qingpi Forest Provincial Nature Reserve. You can see this pristine forest belt from the hotel's gardens, pathways, and even from the guest room windows. Shimei Bay's Qingpi forest is the largest coastal Qingpi forest in the world and the only one in China that grows right by the sea. This unique combination of 'tropical coast + pristine rainforest' can only be experienced at Le Méridien. There are only two types of Le Méridien: Wanning Le Méridien and other Le Méridiens. My only regret this time is that three days and two nights felt too short. I'll definitely be back in a few months to extend my stay at Le Méridien. Others post photos of scenery; I use mountains and seas to cultivate myself. It's truly wonderful to have encountered Le Méridien!"

"Overall experience: The hotel is a bit old, which detracts from the vacation experience. Location: The location is decent, right on the edge of Shenzhou Peninsula and very close to the beach. Cleanliness: The cleanliness is good; it was well-cleaned. Facilities: The room facilities are outdated, which made my stay a bit uncomfortable. If you enjoy spending time at the hotel, the experience will be quite poor. Also, for a family-friendly hotel, the outdoor children's facilities were incredibly dirty, to the point where my child didn't even want to play. The indoor playground was also very small and not suitable for kids. Service attitude: I added the butler on WeChat in advance, and they answered any questions I had. The hotel staff's service attitude was good. Breakfast: The variety was just average, and the restaurant was quite small – better than nothing, I suppose. The freshly squeezed juice was quite good, though."

"Facilities: As it's a newly opened B&B hotel, the facilities are very comprehensive. Cleanliness: Extremely clean. All the bedding is of excellent quality and feel, and all the disposable amenities are also quite good quality. Ambiance: It has a very South of France-inspired B&B vibe. The colorful umbrellas, the swimming pool 🏊🏻‍♂️, and the wall colors all combine beautifully, giving it a strong summer feel. Service: I'm not sure if it's because they just opened, but the butler service is fantastic. If they can maintain this level, it will be the best hotel near Wanning. They are on call 24 hours. My friends and I had tea and a fruit platter in the evenings, and everyone was incredibly warm and friendly, like old friends. The owner is also super attentive in greeting guests and handling any issues. There's also a highly recommended old coffee and tea restaurant nearby. (Just a small note: Because it's newly opened, the rooms might have a slight smell from the wood装修. However, I expect it to disappear after about a month. If you stay soon, you can just use a fan to air it out.)"

"The hotel has been extensively renovated since my last stay. There is a cool new gym, a laundry room and the pool area is still top notch. Breakfast is generous and varied. Th rooms are really relaxing, with high quality linens, towels, pillows and mattresses making it very comfortable . The combination rain shower/nozzle shower is excellent and the room comes with a huge tv also. I had a courtyard room which has 2 more seats outside but a balcony room might have been just as convenient. Staff are really friendly and the room is cleaned to a high standard each day. Location is excellent. The hotel is across the quiet roadway from the beach which is being upgraded with new sand being spread. The Shaka Surf shop is just outside the hotel for lessons and rentals, and there is a really nice restaurant (Goofy Dog) just beside that. The noise at night might be an issue with small kids but if you want to be in the heart of the ‘scene’ there’s nowhere better to be. I would very highly recommend this as a place to stay in Riyue Bay."

"Location: Lovely location right by the ocean but a bit far from any fun spots. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to the Wanning 日月 beach where there's a lot more fun activities. Services: Great service. The front desk manager TT was lovely and could speak great English thus making communication go smoothly. Amenities: Good but could be better. I think some of the rooms were not used for a long time. The first room I got smelled a bit musty. Also, don't expect new facilities this place looks like it's been around for a long time and it shows. Still, it's charming in all it's rustic glory. I would say the only downside to my stay is that there was no shuttle to the train station. Which is kind of a letdown given that this is a high-end resort. ***If you're a person of colour, I recommend maybe try the two hotels not far from this place. Le Meridien and The Westin I think. I didn't spot any other foreigner during my two days at this hotel until I went to 日月 for a walk and ran into a few of them。It turns out most foreigners stay at the Westin or Le Meridien thus maybe it won't feel too isolating opting for these two hotels rather than this one. All in all, it's a nice hotel to stay if you're on a budget.👍🥂"
