"The receptionist & staff are friendly and helpful..always smile even though they have a lot of customers need to check in at same time..the staff upgraded my two rooms to deluxe room with bath tub & both are huge..hair dryer & iron are upon request but for iron, the customer can use for 1 hour..
My parents room have stagnant water in the bathroom & the wall also not so clean...my room also having coffee stained at the coffee table...maybe the housekeeping shaould take care more about this.
The breakfast is good & having mutiple choices...
Overall, my stay with my family at this hotel is awesome.."

"The room provided was spacious, but it was rather basic and felt more like a normal apartment than a hotel apartment. The air conditioning was not properly serviced and was dusty. An iron was not provided in the room, and when we requested one, we were informed that all the irons were already in use.
On the positive side, the breakfast was delicious and offered a good variety of food. The swimming pool was also large and beautiful.
We were offered a seafood buffet on the second night, even though the brochure clearly stated that the buffet was only available on Saturdays and Sundays. We were informed by the cafe that they had extended the buffet, so we booked in advance on the first day of our stay, immediately after checking in.
We confirmed the availability of the buffet three times with the hotel to make sure that everything was in order. However, on Monday afternoon, the hotel cancelled the buffet themselves, citing a “miscommunication”.
This was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. We had made the booking in advance and repeatedly confirmed it with the hotel, only to have the hotel cancel it at the last minute due to their own internal miscommunication."

"It's a refurbished hotel, previously known as Sahid. I'm not sure if they were doing enough renovating the hotel though. I was surprised the room was unlike their photos, the door was bulging as if they were made from wood ashes, the smell of cigarettes was so strong even though I requested for no smoking room. I wasn't sure why, but then they came to spray something to get rid of the smell after that. Another issue was the aircond. I already complained about this, but the engineering team came, but only to wipe it. I already told him that the water passage was blocked, but he juat wiped it down. I suspected that it would happen again, and lo and behold it did. I was so frustrated about this. When I reported this issue, they came again, and confirmed my suspicion all along. They said it wouldn't take long, but it did. They said to wait for their supervisor. After a while, it's decided that I had to move to another room. It took them a while too, only to move me the a room a stone away from the current one. When I got to the new room, the cigarette smell was actually worse, so the guy who moved me called the front desk to move me again, but they were very reluctant to make the change. It was suffocating just to be in the room, even with an opened door. Too many back and forth, and finally they moved me. I was already tired from the travel around the city, and they did this. I was so disappointed. The food was modest at best. Cigarette smell was too strong around the hotel."

"I made a last-minute decision to visit Batam for a 2-day, 1-night trip, so I chose this hotel based on reviews praising its good value for money. As soon as we walked in, the staff were all very warm and welcoming. It's not a huge hotel, but the exterior looks pretty good. It doesn't have a pool, but I'm out and about a lot, so I didn't need one. I opted for breakfast, expecting it to be very simple, but to my surprise, there were quite a few options and the taste wasn't bad. The room was clean, and the view outside the window was nice, though I didn't take any photos. The location is central, making it very convenient to get anywhere. You can just take a Grab. Of course, you can also walk if you don't mind the hot weather, dust, and heavy traffic. I did try walking, and it takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Grand Batam Mall for shopping. Right next door to the hotel is a Starbucks, and across the street is the famous Tua Pek Kong Temple if you'd like to visit. Since I was hungry, I tried a place across the street that served Ice Cendol and Mee Siam – both were surprisingly delicious!"

"Overall, it was quite an unpleasant experience.
1. Booked a non-smoking room but was given a smoking room.
We specifically booked a non-smoking room, and the receptionist clearly confirmed that the room assigned to us was non-smoking. We even signed the T&C agreement. However, we later found out that the room was actually a smoking room. Ridiculous! We ended up staying one night in that room and, thankfully, after making a complaint, the hotel managed to arrange a non-smoking room for us the following day.
2. Avoid booking a connecting room unless you’re travelling with friends or family.
The soundproofing between the connecting rooms is really poor. We could easily hear the guests next door talking and laughing loudly, even after midnight. We had already complained to the receptionist, and although they lowered their voices for a while, the noise started again afterwards and we could still hear them clearly.
To be fair, there are some positives:

"Check-in was alright, fast & friendly. As they didn't ask me if I was an ASR member, at the end of check-in, I asked if my membership had been logged in. It was not. All the staff were great, very friendly & polite. Just these small details would have made it a better experience.
Exiting the lift, we were hit by a nice fragrance, as our room was on the same floor as the spa. The room was decently sized & clean. The air con was cold if you're directly in it's path but on the bed, it was a bit warm even though it was at the coldest setting. Perhaps due to its positioning. The big screen smart tv was personalised to our name, which was a nice touch. There was a big empty space next to the bed, which was a bit puzzling until I had a look at the hotel's room picture again. In the picture, there was supposed to be a single sofa seat and what looked like a small coffee table, which was obviously missing. It's not a big deal. it just made the room seem oddly sparse.
To get to the gym, you had to walk through the restaurant. From certain tables, you could see into the gym. If you're an introvert, this is not the gym for you.
Breakfast was good, a lot of variety. They even had quesadillas. There was also an entertaining short dance by the staff.
The location is great as it's right next to batam center ferry terminal and across from mega mall."

SS465We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The hotel is modern, clean, and conveniently located. We especially enjoyed the wide selection at breakfast, with plenty of choices available.
The staff at the restaurant were attentive, friendly, and welcoming, making our dining experience even more pleasant. We also loved relaxing at the Infinity Pool, which was a great highlight of our stay.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience and would definitely stay at Oakwood Batam again. Highly recommended!

Aisha SamadI love the location the most. Fuss-free hotel tbh. Only issue i have with this hotel is that there is no power socket by the bed. So i have to charge it next to the tv. Also the toilet had a backflow issue which is gross - this is fixed by the hotel after i mentioned it to them. Not my first stay here. If you’re not fussy, want cheap and convenient, then this hotel is it. Please get the breakfast along with your rooms as it’s more worth it that way and the food is REALLY GOOD.

Guest UserThe hotel is very clean. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is small and dirty when we were there. Kids walking around at the breakfast area and jumping in and out from the pool to breakfast area. No proper towels provided for the pool. My room is clean but face a block of construction wall which looks really eerie at night. I think they are in the midst of extension their hotel. Blackout twice but power came back fast. Despite the small imperfect, it is still a very comfortable hotel which I will go back to in Batam.

Guest UserEvery time I travel for work, I stay here. This hotel used to be one of the best on the island, but now there are Marriotts and such. Out of habit, I still prefer to stay here. This time, I chose it for a family trip mainly due to familiarity and good value for money. For around 400-500 RMB, the hotel is quite understated. The Ctrip page stated a 1.5-meter bed, but it was actually 1.8 meters. For two 1.2-meter beds, the website listed them as 1 meter. The breakfast was also good; my child even tried snake fruit.

Room was relatively clean except ants on the table. However the toilet was a little dirty. The sink kept getting clogged. Ac was great and cold. The lift is very slow.
