Hotels near Mission, San Francisco

Union was the right price in the very right location, and wonderful people running the place as well. Toilet & washroom were in the hallway, but that was OK with me, as I've traveled extensively outside the West, and done that regularly. BART access is nearly doorstep, which was a top priority - loved it! Location is right at the ”Burrito Triangle”, with lots of other food available, too, so dining is easy. Their complimentary coffee is strong & fresh, but since DIY was permitted, I brought my civet coffee & fill-yourself K-cups. Good place to stay!

The hotel is in a great location, right near Union Square. If you like walking, you can practically reach all the downtown attractions on foot from here. Interestingly, when you enter through the side door of the hotel, there's a cable car parked inside – I'm not sure if it's for display or still operational, but I did take a ride on a cable car at a station near the hotel later. Inside the room, beyond the towels and large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion, there was nothing else. Not even a disposable shower cap. There was no complimentary bottled water either. While there was a capsule coffee machine, there was no kettle, so I had to ask the housekeeper for one. The bar on the 46th floor has fantastic views; it's a great spot for a drink and to enjoy San Francisco at night. I didn't get a chance to use the pool, but I'm sure it's nice too.

Pros: Great central location with easy access to transportation. The hotel has key card access and a gym. Cons: The room facilities are a bit old, and there's no dedicated space for luggage. There are homeless people downstairs, but it's generally safe. Soundproofing is poor; street noise, especially loud cars, can be disruptive. The room lights are motion-sensor activated and turn off automatically. The bathroom ventilation doesn't work well. No complimentary bottled water. Breakfast is served at the restaurant next door, and tipping can sometimes lead to awkward situations.

Cheap and old hotel that is suitable for 1 or 2 nights (no tikis mikis or those with glamorous pretensions) We got a room with a private bathroom, for approximately 80 a night. Don't expect quality, it's old and I understand that they are going to renovate it little by little since the reception is removing the carpet for a wooden floor. The room is 15 meters and had an exterior window, a somewhat rattly spring mattress but my back can accept it for at least 1 night. They have given the bathroom a touch and improved it. The infrastructure is basic but the cleanliness is more than acceptable. Don't expect luxury, the landings smell a bit strange I suppose because of the carpet (typical smell of this type of hotel with carpet) Summary, if you want to get to know this neighborhood this hostel hotel is a very good option. Difficult parking area, everything is charged The staff is nice, especially the one who checked us out, a charm 😊 They let you leave your bags in the luggage storage. The neighborhood is very nice, almost immersed and a few blocks from the multi-colored area 🏳️🌈🌈

Even though I booked a room with a private bathroom, it was still hostel-standard. I had to get the bedding from the front desk and make the bed myself. For check-out, I had to strip the bedding and return it to the front desk to get my deposit back. There's no elevator, so I had to carry my heavy luggage up myself. The room had no table or chairs, many of the bedside USB outlets were broken, and the room heater was faulty and never properly fixed. In short, it's not suitable for families.

The room was a bit small but very clean and quiet. I felt very safe thanks to the secure access at the hotel entrance. Its location is excellent, being less than a 5-minute walk from the subway station, and with a bus stop right outside, transportation is incredibly convenient.

Very expensive for a B&B. Nice spot in the Castro/ Mission district near Dolores Park. Well-maintained & reasonable management. Lots of stairs to go up into main house lobby — wrought iron gates with intercom to buzz to get entry into property. Try to get a room in the older main house to minimize stairs! No AC. They have limited parking spots behind the two B&B houses (access from Dorland St) for US$35./day plus tax which is a steep price. Make sure u book a parking spot in advance. Beautiful garden courtyard in the back. Sadly we never got to use it. Try to get a room that faces the other “house” or the backyard - quieter. We had a front room Deluxe King Room 36 which looked nothing like the sample room photos (only one Room 24 w courtyard view, sofa, coffee table). We got a smaller room approx 290sf vs what we paid for 32sq.m, 344sf, no closet just small armoire to hang a couple of things, no sofa, no coffee table, no balcony. They were kind enough to give us a refund for the price difference between the Deluxe King we booked & the Standard King we got. Had to ask for them to vacuum room. Found tissue under headboard/bed, dusty. Not the kind of room you would want to spend much time in —teeny tiny TV, faced front noisy street with electric bus passing by. No screens in windows so had to close windows at night to keep critters out. Bed was ok. Pillows were synthetic & lumpy. View was of electric lines & school across the street. Beware some electric outlets. One was burnt out. Breakfast was repetitive but nice to eat in a lovely breakfast room or outdoor deck. Hard-boiled eggs, muesli, fruit, muffins/ carbs, American coffee, juices. Fortunately SPRO café was next door if you need a great cappuccino or chai latté! The hotel was very nice and clean and the front desk person was very warm, friendly, and helpful. She went out her way to assist all customers and provide answers. I also appreciated the convenient parking the hotel offered. It allowed in and out privileges and a later check out process. It was so convenient to use the QR to use to enter and exit. The only drawback was the the elevators were not working properly. Unfortunately, this made it difficult and to get to the floors and the elevators took time to get to the floors. At times, there was no room so there were long waits. Still, the service elevators were made available, but it was the same thing as many individuals were diverted to them. But overall, I enjoyed my stay and would be inclined to to rebook this hotel again.

My sister and I stayed at Piona Hotel for 9 nights. It's centrally located, close to many tourist attractions. Initially, we planned to explore the area on foot, but there were so many homeless people that we didn't feel safe walking around. We ended up taking Ubers everywhere we went. I definitely wouldn't recommend going out for a walk at night as it felt quite scary. However, the staff were incredibly helpful. I was very impressed and would certainly choose Piona again if I have the chance to return. I'd also recommend it to my friends. The breakfast offered a lovely selection of snacks and fruits.
