The whole experience was fabulous, the staff were so helpful, nothing was too much bother. The accommodation and food were first class. The bar was a delight. We will definitely return on the future, it’s been one of the nicest places to stay in Scotlan.

We took friends to celebrate their 60th birthdays and had the best of times from start to finish. Drinks in a cosy living room followed by a lovely dinner where the six of us were sat in a separate area from the other guests, at our request, to let our hair down a little. At all times the staff, from reception to the dining room, were excellent and went out of their way to ensure our stay was a happy stay…..they succeeded. Our room was super clean and comfortable with nice smelling hand and body wash etc. The grounds of the hotel are very interesting and we enjoyed games on the lawn outside as well as a lovely walk in beautiful countryside. Can’t recommend this place enough

What can we say? What a fabulous experience. Thank you to all the staff. Leanora , Brandon, Morne, the young Hungarian waitress (sorry we didn’t get her name). Location, food ,cleanliness friendliness…it has it all. The staff were super knowledgeable about every aspect of hospitality and it showed. Fresh fresh food beautifully presented and delicious , paired with exceptional wines. I’ve never seen a bathroom with two baths before! Simply stunning. Impossible to describe properly. Must be experienced. For us, the best hospitality experience in Scotland ( coming from people who live in Scotland ) bar none

My husband and I been dropping in here for lunch about once a year for the past few years and we love it every time. The single track road keeps it peaceful. The scenery is truly magical any time of year, I always feel I'm entering a slightly different dimension, with cleaner air and a timeless feel. The hotel is a big rambling former farm, the decor is arty and eclectic, in winter it's cosy with lit fires and stoves - all things I love as I'm an artist and couldn't live somewhere without a fire! Next thing is food. It's beautiful seasonal produce, much of it grown or sourced locally. Last time I had soup and a pigeon starter for lunch, it was absolutely exquisite - tender, juicy, tasty and perfectly accompanied with a rich sauce, parsnip and celeriac roasted cubes. It's pricey here, so for me and my husband this is definitely a place we go for a special treat. This time we also brought a couple of friends who also totally loved it. You can enjoy a lunch for within £25 if you like, or splash out. We were treated with such friendliness and attention by the staff. I'm actually quite blown away by that since we were not staying over night. So a warm thank you to Christoff and Magda who added to a lovely experience. We'll be back!

If you want a place that gives you a change of scenery, this is the right place. Let us start with the only black spot : The 6 or 7 miles to go to the hotel is a one way road with cars in both ways, with a driving on the left side (very difficult for us). So, as often in Scotland, you do not reason in terms of km / miles but in term of time. Long long time to get there. There are parking areas here and there to allow cars to stop when someone is coming towards you. But when you are there, a great pleasure. The place is charming, the old building with the terrace has an unique charm. the room we had was very nice although the bathroom was very tiny (due to the building itself). You can also book little houses. The landscape we saw from our room or the restaurant was absolutely beautiful : two lochs, mountain, colors.... Do not hesitate to explore the surroundings. Staff is very nice especially the owners (father and son). In the restaurant, you will encounter many nationality and character. The is a great chance that a waiter or waitress will speak your language. The service is of good quality without being too affected. Finally the food is of good quality, very good chef, and the daily special changes every day.

We hadn’t heard of this gem before we were given a gift voucher - and I’m so glad we were able to! We stopped at the Mhor bakery on the way - definitely a good idea! It is quite a long single track road to the hotel but the scenery is amazing! When we pulled up, we weren’t quite sure what to expect - there’s definitely a charm to it! The grounds aren’t polished & landscaped but to be honest, it makes it feel really homely & authentic. Our check in was lovely, can’t remember the chaps name, but he was South African & super friendly! Our room was massive and very comfortable - we stayed in a courtyard room. The weather was your classic Scottish summer - aka rain - but the surrounding scenery was just breathtaking, even in the rain! We put our waterproofs on and went for a walk through the field, saw some cute farm animals! When we went back to the hotel, we sat and watched the rain out the window - bliss! We asked about the menu for the nights dinner about 5pm - the food is so fresh that the menu still hadn’t been finalised! We didn’t have to worry because it was delicious! Great service & the food was amazing. We sat in the bar and chatted to some other guests, with the staff attentive and friendly. The only slight let down was the breakfast. The sausages felt a wee bit greasy and while the bacon was beautifully presented, it definitely could have been crispier. But the pre breakfast scone was a winner. Really enjoyable and relaxing experience! Would recommend to anymore looking for an escape to the beautiful Scottish countryside who enjoys good food & wine!

At this price point it’s all about the detail. Hotel feels a bit tired. Laundry in our stairwell. Waiting staff forgot to deliver a drink. Waiter distracted as placing food. Diner good not great. All added up to ‘not quite good enough’ leaving us with a twinge of disappointment
