Great place! Very comfy cabins with all what you need, nicely distributed in the landscape. The centrally located very nice resto serves good food including breakfasts. We saw a big family of monkeys playing around in the trees. A five minutes walk on a wooden footbridge bring you to a beautiful playa. great for surfers.Good for a stay of several days! Not far away from the tourist hotspot Tamarindo or from Playa Avellana.

The internet quality is not so good, make sure to reserve a room with AC if you don’t like the heat. The road to the cabinas is. Very bad but that I guess is true for anywhere in Costa Rica

The highlight of my 4 week stay in Costa Rica. You feel in nature, at the same time by the beach. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful. Definitely a place not to miss

Cabinas Las Olas was an incredible stay!! My boyfriend and I are already talking about when we want to come back. The rooms are spacious and have everything you need for a solid surf trip. Each of the cabins (or at least most) have a nice little deck with a hammock and some chairs. The rooms had a A/C and daily cleaning service. The receptionists worked not only as hotel receptionists, but also has the hotel staff that managed the surf shop, bar tenders, and also restaurant servers. The staff were all very were very kind and friendly. We loved the dynamic of the Cabinas Los Olas. All very down to earth people that just loved to surf. The hotel also has their own private wooden deck that connects to the beach, which made it very convenient to surf. Lastly, the hotel also booked our surfing lessons for Avenallas Soul Surf School us, which was a great recommendation as well and connected us to a great instructor, Julio. The hotel also booked us a taxi driver as well to help get leave Avellanas. Overall, highly recommend this stay if you are looking for a great surfing trip and can’t wait to go back and stay at Cabinas Las Olas!!!!

My wife and I frequent the bar here. We are staying nearby. The drink are far better than many of the more expensive restaurants in the area. We have had both the pina colada and margarita. The margaritas are fresh squeezed and nicely presented. These bartenders are among the best on the beach.

While Cabinda las olas is not a luxury hotel, the location and staff make up for it. I can’t imagine getting a better experience of true Costa Rica. Went there on a surf trip with my 13 year-old son. Was only in the room to shower, sleep, and occasionally cool off with the A/C. A short walk across an estuary with wildlife all around leads you to a beautiful,long beach. Surf breaks everywhere. Met people from all across the USA, Chile, and Europe. We ate almost every meal at the bar/restaurant, which was great. People come up from the beach and just hang out at the mellow bar. The waiters are also the bartenders, receptionists, and handymen. Josue was awesome and shared pics of his fishing and surfing adventures. Very outgoing and super cool to hang out with. He, along with Kevin and Ryan, were very helpful with telling us the ins and outs of avellanas. The other locals we saw along the beach were extremely warm and nice. We cannot wait to get back! We ate lunch and dinner at the restaurant here. Both meals were delicious. One of the best spicy margaritas I have ever had! Definitely a variety on the menu that would make anyone happy. The covered patio is really pretty. And you can definitely see a lot of wildlife while you were eating.

Very close to beautiful beach, terrific staff. Nice bar and restaurant on premises. Would absolutely return!
