It was my first time staying at the Arlo and the overall hotel itself is very nice. It's very clean, the staff friendly, the amenities bountiful, and I slept like a baby in my room. What I'm most displeased by are the additional fees upon booking that customers aren't made aware of until arrive at the hotel. I think these practices are anti-consumer and should be done away with. There's no need to not be transparent in the pricing.
One, there's a $150 per night hold for your booking. Which will be returned to you. Two, there's a $35 per night evironmental fee. What is that about? Why am I as the guest forced to pay an environmental fee? If anything, just put it in the cost of the booking and not deceive me with the nightly rates. So instead of $325 per night, just be honest and list it as $360 per night. Where does the environmental fee go? Then they give you a card with a $25 food "credit" which they say will come out of your environmental fee. So basically you've getting an extra $25 per night from me and keeping $10 per night for the environmental fee? Make it make sense.
Additionally, small things like qtips, shower caps, are hard to procure. We had to request multiple times for them. The closet space is non-existent and there are no drawers in the room, so you'll be living out of your suitcase during your stay. I think it's fine for those who travel light, but for a longer more active stay, there are better options that don't nickle and dime you for every little thing.
