The best location, right next to Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. The hotel has a beautiful lobby. The room itself seems a bit small, but clean and organized. Decor seems modern. The price is decent, walkable distance to the Bund and metro. Their breakfast buffet was pretty good too. Will book again!

This hotel is by far the the best hotel you could book in Shanghai ! As a business traveller , I stay at Radisson each and every stay since the past 10 years . Of my recent stay in Feb and August 2025 , it has once again confirmed my expectations . A huge thank you to the hotel check in staff KARA , she arranged a late check out for me at 3 Pm because my flight was very late that afternoon . A huge thank you to Duch ( I think that’s how you spell his name ) , he was the chef at the breakfast , and he made sure my veg needs were well taken care of . A huge thanks to Ken from the concierge staff ! He actually went out of his way to order me something electronic from Taoba and he arranged the delivery to the hotel . Also went the extra mile to bubble wrap it and secure it for me to take as check in baggage . This hotel is beyond incredible ! Thanks guys for everything and I look forward to my next stay here . Keep up the good work everyone !

I love that the room is spacious and so as the bathroom. It’s very quiet at night, we had a good sleep. Food is ok, but can be improved by providing more options. Location is great, one minute walk to East nanjing road and is surrounded by restaurants and shops. Will definitely book again!

The hotel is very beautiful. It’s newly renovated even it’s over 90 years old. The design is amazingly neat of the 1930’s atmosphere. Everything is decorated in detail. The rooms is clean and new. The bathroom is huge. The bath tub is beautiful. The toilet is equipped with automatic bidet. My family enjoys every moment here.
The staff are all polite and helpful. The front desk staff can speak English very well. The housekeeping ladies and men are polite and kind even they don’t speak English.
We didn’t have time for afternoon tea on any day while staying here as our schedules were full of activities outside the city but the staff gave us the take away boxes of after tea set before leaving the hotel after check out.
We have a great experience here of 5 star services.

When we arrived at the hotel on a day that was nearly 30° C we were informed that there was no air conditioner working in the hotel. I asked for a fan and they said they could not provide one because they’re all lent out to others. They did not give any help or compensation, which is completely unacceptable. The hotel was clean and the space was big but we paid a lot of money for there to be no air conditioner and they didn’t tell us beforehand. Would not come back here, they should have done more for us since this was their own fault.

JJane Andrea LeowThis is my third time staying at this apartment hotel in Shanghai, and every stay feels like coming home — but this trip was extra special, thanks to a true angel: Bella.
Bella’s service goes beyond expectations. Every morning, she would thoughtfully ask what I’d like for breakfast and whether I’d like coffee delivered to my room. Her kindness, attention to detail, and warmth made me feel so cared for — not just as a guest, but as a friend. She’s the reason I’ll keep coming back to this apartment. With Bella around, everything just feels more heartwarming and effortless.
This apartment has truly become my “home away from home” in Shanghai. From the cozy, well-designed rooms to the convenient location, great service, and lovely little touches like fresh coffee in the morning — it’s all absolutely top-notch. I’ve recommended it to so many friends, and every one of them has had only great things to say.
If you’re looking for a place in Shanghai that combines comfort, soul, and exceptional service, this is it. And if you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by Bella — you’re very very lucky!
PPeter 佛系游客Staff ok. Reasonable English and willing to help. Hotel and rooms are clean and service not intrusive.
Location is good. Not far from some sights. Can easily walk to Nanking pedestrian are (南京步行街).
Hotel facilities are not up to standard of an international brand. Breakfast ok. But our TV sets in our room had terrible reception particularly to the Chinese channels, it happens that I like to watch the CCTV (chinese central tv?) documentaries and I could not, as I informed the front desk on the 2nd day, not fixed, then informed on the 3rd morning then slightly better, so I gave up. Also, for some reason, the tv sets in the room and the living room were linked and when I turned on one, the other would start but not synchronized. At the first night, nothing could be done but to turn both off.
There was also water leakage of ?water from the closet ceiling, my wife's dress was wet from that, after fixing on the 2nd day, on the 3rd day, leak less but water still dropped.
To be fair. The front desk asked me if I needed to change room by then but I was leaving on the 4th morning and my wife had moved all the clothing to the connecting room closet, so no harm already.
Definitely not going back and not recommend this hotel.
Our friends told us that this hotel was old but not an excuse.
LLionel SinRecently had the pleasure of staying at the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel, perfectly situated near The Bund and the iconic Yu Garden. From the moment I arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and truly made me feel at home.
The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and offered breathtaking views of Shanghai’s skyline. The location is ideal for both sightseeing and business, with easy access to many of the city’s landmarks.
What made my stay even more memorable was the thoughtful gesture from the hotel — a beautifully presented stamp collection featuring Shanghai’s landmarks and culture. It was such a unique and meaningful gift, reflecting the city’s charm and the hotel’s attention to detail.
Overall, the Renaissance Shanghai Yu Garden Hotel exceeded my expectations with its excellent hospitality, prime location, and special touches that make guests feel valued. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Shanghai.

GGuest UserFirst I have to say that in general the reception staff and general manager are friendly and try to be helpful. Also the cleaning staff do their basic job and the hotel has some amenities and style to it. However, this hotel has not been properly maintained by the owners. You can see the history of the hotel by only looking at the carpets in the rooms, which are dirty, smelly and simply need to be professionally cleaned - or exchanged completely. The hotel appearantly doesn’t enforce the non-smoking policy, since you can smell smoke almost everywhere in the floors and rooms. The total dealbreaker for me was the fact that the aircons in the rooms either emitted a horrible smell, or they didn’t cool down properly, the ACs need to be cleaned and fixed desperately. During my 3 night stay it never got colder than 24C in any of the rooms they assigned to me, even at night when it was only 28C outside. During day temperatures went up much higher. Same issues persisted in every room. I have stayed in many other hotels in China with lower categories than 5 stars and never had such an experience before. Fortunately, the trip.com support managed to cancel the remaining 4 nights of my stay for me, thank you very much.

EEunsemThe location is perfect for exploring the Bund by foot—both day and night. The surrounding area is filled with photo spots, making every walk feel like a scenic tour. One of the highlights was the rooftop bar with a stunning night view—absolutely breathtaking. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable, and the view from the room was also impressive. All the staff were friendly and spoke English well, which made the stay even more pleasant.
The breakfast area had a beautiful European-style interior, and the view of the trees through the large windows added a peaceful charm. However, the breakfast quality itself was just average.
Overall, it was a highly satisfying stay, and I would gladly return.
GGuest UserThe Waldorf Astoria Hotel offers a great view, right by the Bund. I really like this hotel. The concierge Jack the personal concierge Danny and the front desk jenny are all wonderful.
NNicoLntWe had an awesome stay at Hotel Indigo in May. The view was amazing, the room was super comfy and stylish, and the location couldn’t have been better for checking out the city.
Breakfast was tasty with lots of choice, and the staff were all great. Big shoutout to Henry at the front desk – he made us feel really welcome and was super helpful when we had a little issue.
Also don’t miss their rooftop bar, delivering Shanghai’s iconic skyline with a well crafted cocktail on top🍹
Would definitely stay here again!
