Amalthia Studios

Having read some varying reviews for this place we decided to book as the majority were favourable. Sadly our experience was certainly very unfavourable. The room was awful. Paint was coming off the walls. It was desperately in need of redecorating. The door had previously been kicked in and the lock was held in place with four screws. We had seen previous comments about how helpful the owners were. There was no such evidence and we found them rude and abrupt. We certainly will not be returning.

Lovely, clean studios in a pretty setting and a lovely welcome with hugs and glasses of wine and chocolate cake from our hosts Rannia and Yiannis! Studios have everything you need, even a toaster! Beds and pillows very comfy. Only a five minute walk to the main street. Stayed here for a week in September - loved it!

Although the studio was very basic, there was everything we needed. Set in a beautiful courtyard where you could sit, or on your own little patio or balcony. Yiannis and Rania were very helpful and left us many little treats in the room from chocolate cake to sangria. Very convenient to town, just a 5 minute walk to the Main Street but also very quiet at night.

Ensure you contact the host in advance to arrange a check in time as this is not clear in the confirmation email. Even so, we were disappointed that we had to wait almost an hour to enter the room, despite emailing our arrival time, as the owner had decided to go to the beach. Otherwise, the owner was helpful. The rooms are in a beautiful terraced area and clean.

We stayed for 3 weeks from the end of June until 19th July in room 3 on the ground floor so had a terrace with small table and 2 chairs there is air conditioning which you pay extra for but although it was very hot we didn't need it as the fan kept the room cool,bins emptied every day towels and bedding twice a week.It is situated in an ideal position minutes away from Skiathos town centre .We didn't use the self catering element of it except for having a brew and using the fridge,We found Yanis, Rania, their daughter and grandchildren very friendly and helpful without being too intrusive and would stay again but probably September when the town is a bit quieter.

From the outside the studios look delightful, lots of plants, flowers,fairy lights etc. You walk into one large room with a small bathroom off it. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom had a leaky sink (washing up bowl underneath) the drain on the floor was quite smelly. We had a sink unit in the main room, with a cupboard above containing very little utensils and pots, and a board placed over 2 small hotplates, no where to prepare food , all of which were very unsuitable for self catering, Our main concern was the lack of hygiene consideration, our towels didn't get changed all week the same with our bedding! But mainly, the bins (bathroom and kitchen) didn't get emptied!! We had to buy bin bags and empty them ourselves!!! Certainly not ideal in the very hot temperature, plus lack of air conditioning (we had a ceiling fan)

Warm welcome from friendly and helpful owners Yannis and Rannia. Glasses of chilled wine and fruit in our room. Chocolate cake the following morning! Studio was clean and simple with a king size comfy bed, a great shower and a small patio looking on to the delightful courtyard. Yannis is a mine of information and showed us how to get into town, nearest bus stop etc. Studios are in a great location, a few minutes walk to nearest supermarkets and a bakery. A couple of minutes more to bars, tavernas and a plethora of shops. A 10 - 15 minute walk takes you to the old and new ports and the bus terminal. We had a very enjoyable week at Amalthia Studios and would like to say a big thank you to Yannis and Rannia.

We had a great stay at Amalthia Studios. The accommodation was what we had expected for the price. Basic but clean and comfortable. Great location, the garden was lovely and owners welcoming and friendly.

I have just returned from a week at the delightful Amalthia Studios. The spotlessly clean rooms border a quaint courtyard full of colourful flowers (butterflies and small birds are frequent visitors!) and you have all the amenities you need for your holiday close at hand. Hosts Yannis and Rania, along with their daughter Maria and family, are incredibly friendly, kind and helpful, without being at all intrusive; you really could not wish to meet nicer people. I hope to visit again soon.
