Another very good stay at Shinagawa Prince Hotel! Location: very convenient as it’s just by the station and even if it’s raining we can go to few shops, restaurants, a pharmacy and seven eleven! Room: very small but we had everything we need for our stay. Comfortable bed to sleep. This time our room was the opposite side of the station so it was quieter and great night view from windows. Amenities: Good amenities especially we love body wash towel. Only request was that if they could prepare not only Green tea but also black tea that would be lovely. It’s always full of tourists at the hotel When we were staying we could hear voice of next room which was quite noisy and they were chatting quite late with loud voice so this was the only disappointment that we experienced this time.

The Room is definitely big enough for a solo traveler. And the location is really convenient (close to Shinagawa station and there's a 7-11 nearby). The bathroom is a bit small though.

We read a lot of good reviews about Mitsui Garden Gotanda and decided to go with it. It is located close to the JR Gotanda station and it is within 5 to 10 minutes walk. It is also very accessible to touristy spots such as Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. The hotel reception has a very nice view and free coffee! There are many nice restaurants around! There is a Lawson right at the hotel and it was extremely convenient for us to get our supper. Room was on the small side but good enough for two person with two medium luggages. The cleanliness was no doubt of Japanese standard. There are free toiletries for each guest at the reception area. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Mitsui Garden Gotanda.

This hotel is 45 years old, so it's understandable that the facilities are a bit dated, but it's still relatively clean. A particular issue was the bedding in our standard room. The duvet was simply laid on top of a single flat sheet. With any movement during the night, it would quickly get bundled up. It was quite similar to the setup on old 'green train' sleeper cars in China, where you'd just get a blanket and a sheet to lie on. After discussing this with the front desk, one staff member with short hair initially seemed reluctant to help. However, another colleague then went to the back to make an inquiry, and they eventually provided us with a proper duvet cover. I'm not sure if this is a distinction between the standard and premium rooms, but having a proper duvet cover makes a significant difference to sleep comfort compared to just a sheet. This should really be clarified during the booking process. Another unavoidable issue was the noise. As the hotel is old, this might be an unchangeable characteristic that affects all floors. Flushing a toilet created a surprisingly loud noise, and late at night, conversations from people returning to their rooms were clearly audible. However, the hotel's location is excellent. We didn't need to transfer trains when returning from Kamakura, and Shibuya is just two stops away. In Japan, public transportation is vital, as you tend to do a lot of walking, so being close to the subway is incredibly important! Of the three beds, one was a sofa bed and quite firm, but the other regular beds were comfortable enough. There are supermarkets and restaurants right next door, and the hotel's own restaurant is also quite good. Plus, having a Lawson convenience store downstairs was incredibly handy.

Very convenient location only walk 2mins to the JR station. The room is quite small but i am okay with that. I have 3 24” luggage and 1 cabin size with me. All can fit in the room. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. They also have luggage transfer services by Yamato at their reception. All is good and very smooth journey staying here.

## Transportation Staying in Shinagawa is a solid choice when in Tokyo. Shinagawa Station is just a 10-minute train ride via the Keikyu Line to Haneda Airport International Terminal. It's also conveniently located close to the Yamanote Line loop, making it easy to access various parts of the city. ## Location Exiting Shinagawa Station, you'll encounter a slight uphill walk. With luggage, it takes about ten minutes and involves crossing a road, which can be a bit inconvenient. You might prefer waiting for the shuttle bus. Walking *back* towards Shinagawa Station is downhill and much easier. ## Facilities The lobby is grand and opulent, quite impressive for a hotel in Japan. It feels like there are several restaurants. My favorite part is the hotel's garden—it's exquisite and beautiful. It's rare to find a hotel with such a large garden in central Tokyo. At night, it's illuminated, and I hear it's especially stunning when the cherry blossoms are in bloom. ## Room The room is quite spacious, nearly 39 square meters, and features a small balcony. Higher floors offer better views, with some rooms even providing a glimpse of Tokyo Tower! The room facilities are a bit dated, possibly due to the hotel's large scale and numerous rooms, which might also explain why the cleaning isn't always meticulous. However, the toiletries are by Pola, and drip-bag coffee is provided. Considering the beautiful grounds, the small balcony, and other amenities, the slightly old-fashioned room is tolerable. ## Amenities & Shopping There's a 7-Eleven convenience store on B1, which is very well-stocked – compact but has everything you need. The hotel lobby also houses a Tully's Coffee shop with standard prices. For rooms without breakfast, you can easily grab food from the convenience store or enjoy a light meal at Tully's. Across from the hotel is a Montbell store. A five-minute walk leads to the Wing department store, which has a 100-yen shop and a Matsumoto Kiyoshi (drugstore). Wing isn't very large, offers some dining options (mostly Western), but doesn't boast many shops. A ten-minute walk brings you to a supermarket on the Keikyu Line's ground floor, which is good for grabbing small items before you leave. However, if you're looking for serious shopping, this location might be a bit lacking. Inside the station, there's an ecute shopping area with food, drinks, and a Uniqlo, but it seems you need to enter the station gates to access it – I couldn't figure out how to get in from outside! Outside the ticket gates, there's a small shopping complex called Atre, where you can find bags, souvenirs, and simple accessories on the first floor. On the other side of the station, there's a Yoshinoya restaurant.

Stayed here recently and was thoroughly impressed! For the same price as a budget APA Hotel, this property offers a significantly more upscale experience. The room had a high-end, 5-star feel with sleek, modern design and premium finishes. While compact (typical for Tokyo), it was spacious compared to APA rooms and felt brand-new—very clean and well-maintained. Location was perfect: next to a prime office building and close to Tamachi Station (about 5 mins walk), making trains and exploring effortless. If you want luxury aesthetics without the luxury price tag, this is the place. Highly recommend for value-conscious travelers who appreciate style!

The twin room (2 doublebeds) was surprisingly spacious and comfortable. When asked for, service from housekeeping to remove an extra bed from our room was extremely fast, courteous, and efficient. The location of the hotel is part of a complex of Prince hotels in the area, each situated around the edge of an exquisite Japanese garden. Unfortunately, due to a long-term construction project in front of Shinagawa Station, the hotel's free shuttle cannot pick up or drop off guests in front of the station as when we stayed there before. This was not made known to us in advance, and we had to walk with large suitcases up the long hill to the hotel the day of check in, and also walk to the station (about 1 minute) from a neighboring Prince hotel after taking the shuttle the morning of check out. This was the only part that made the trip less enjoyable.

The hotel is really comfortable. Just above the JR Gotanda station. Room is big and amenities are superb. Dyson air purifier, Dyson hair dryer! Consent bathroom with separate toilet. Comfy bed with a work desk. Location is not near anywhere but close to Haneda Airport. Many eateries, dept stores and Don Quijote around the corner. Just 3 stops from shibuya, 2 stops from Shinagawa. Recommend for families to stay in JR hotels. A bit x but very good quality!

Final Tokyo Hotels Booking Tips

  • Book Tokyo Hotels Like a Local, secure your room 4–8 months ahead for Tokyo’s busiest travel windows: cherry blossom season (late March to early April) and autumn foliage peaks (mid-November) sell out first, with Golden Week (April 29–May 5) demanding even earlier planning.
  • Navigate Tokyo’s Quirks Smartly, note that trains stop running by 00:30 AM; if exploring nightlife hubs like Roppongi, budget ¥8,000+ for a taxi back to transit-savvy bases like Shinagawa.
  • Prioritize Transit-Friendly, Value-Focused Neighborhoods Forget pricey Ginza or chaotic Shibuya. Station your stay near Tokyo Station (Marunouchi/Yaesu exits) for Shinkansen access, or choose Shinagawa—it’s a 5-minute Shinkansen hop from the JR Yamanote Line.

よよこAlthough I checked in late, I was accommodated politely. I liked that the indoor wear was separate for the top and bottom. The room was very clean, well-organized, and comfortable, except for the fact that the doorknob on the door to the bathroom was hard to turn, which made it difficult to open. The breakfast was also delicious. If I were to be greedy, I would have liked a blanket to be provided as my feet were very cold.

GGuest UserIf you are staying multiple nights, will the room be cleaned and the bed sheets changed once every four days? It would be nice if there was a humidifier. The tap water in the bathroom is displayed to see if it is potable water. There are convenience stores, family restaurants, and bento shops around the hotel, which is convenient. You can check whether breakfast is available from the TV in the room, which helps reduce waste. The miso soup is delicious, but I wonder if they serve packaged products afterwards?

GGuest UserIt was relatively close to Tamachi Station, and there were several convenience stores and grocery stores nearby, so it was a convenient location. The room was clean and I was able to relax. There were the bare necessities, such as furniture, cutlery, an electric kettle, a microwave, and a TV. There was a bit of an issue with the lack of a bath mat, but other than that I was able to stay comfortably.

AAxellyThis hotel is a little way from Gotanda Station so if you don’t mind the 9 minute walk and it’s worth the price difference then it’s okay. The hotel stay was okay, it was relatively clean for a business hotel but not as thoroughly clean as some higher end hotels. The comforter was stained which was a bit disappointing to see. I stayed 5 nights and it was fine, however I wouldn’t stay again. The service from the staff was standard.
