Hotel Canal & Walter Reviews

This is very old hotel with rundown condition. Room WiFi service was not totally unable to connect throughout the stay. There was no lift and we have to manually carry our luggage. First day of arrive, we were give a room a third floor which totally unexpected without having a lift to carry out belongings manually. After request front desk staff, we were given another room at Hotel Air One which is next building to Hotel Canal and Walter. But there was no lift too and room TV was not working at all. Hotel Air One is extremely old and we didn’t see any guests at all. Next day, we managed to get a room at 1st floor in Hotel Canal and Walter. For family, I don’t recommend this hotel.

The Canal & Walter is extremely old. I understand that…BUT…updates have not been made in YEARS AND YEARS. The young staff at the front desk are great. The gentleman running breakfast couldn’t be better. ROOM 102 The bathroom has black mold - there is a window in the shower with a curtain rod BUT NO CURTAIN. So the window is rotting and moldy. The shower head is broken. The bathroom has a floor drain but when new tile was installed MANY YEARS AGO the drain was not raised so it is an extremely bad trip hazard. There are NO towel rods. There are no safety handles in the slick tub/shower. Entering the bathroom there is a 3-4” step - another trip hazard. The furnishings, from the 1960’s, in this room are totaling worn out. There is only one luggage rack so the only option is to use one of the two chairs or the small desk. This is very inconvenient. When scanning the room for items we might have missed in packing, we found garbage under the bed. The breakfast is sufficient. I would give one star out if 5, at best. The smell of bug spray was so overwhelming that it seemed toxic. The air conditioning unit did not work so unknowingly we opening the windows for some fresh air only to wake up with dozens or more mosquito bites. We stayed 3 nights. The 2nd night we closed the windows and relied on the air conditioning unit. After a long night of restless hot sleep, we left for the day only to return to find the UNIT WAS TURNED OFF by the staff.

Terrible experience, wifi doesn't work and no seem know anything about it. Aircon not working as well, it feel like sleeping in oven at night. Alot mosquito as well.

Room and 🚽 are rather small. If the 🏨 is over 100 euro per night, dont recommend to stay.

The hotel is across the canal from the train station but Google map didn’t know how to get there. There is no elevator. The rooms are old and one of our rooms had leaking from the ceiling of the bathroom but they refused to change the room for us. Some of the staffs were friendly but others were not helpful at all. Have a canal view and it was clean. The receptionist was really helpful as well.

The hotel is small and old…

Hello, The worst hotel I have been in was. Old and broken furniture, dirty walls and ceilings, curtains that are loose and in danger of falling, hygiene of the most questionable nature, electrical outlets that are loose.... For a reservation site like yours, it is unacceptable that you can offer such hotels. I hope you will have the courtesy of a good business gesture. Sincerely Jean Jacques Hoff

While walking towards the hotel I laughed at a dilapidated red hotel with wooden letters. It turned out to be our hotel. Stayed for three nights in room 311. 3rd floor, 67 steps each time because there is no elevator. The decor was old/Iralian and looked nothing like the photos on the site. When booking, request twin beds and preferably a bath. The bed was covered as a double and a bath turned out to be a shower of 70x70cm with dirty plastic folding doors. The breakfast that was included was also disappointing. During the weekend, after 9 o'clock the plates, cups and knives were gone and it was difficult to find a place to sit. Maybe I expected too much for 63 euros per night in Venice, but it is certainly not worth more.
