"I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel it's important to share my experience with Villa Sara so others can make an informed decision. While the listing highlights the apartment as a quiet retreat (which it definitely is), there are several crucial details that are not disclosed in the ad. First and foremost, this is a basement apartment—not something mentioned upfront—and it only has one bedroom that accommodates two people. If you're planning to stay with more guests, be prepared to sleep on the floor, practically packed like sardines. When we arrived around 8 PM, the area was completely dark—no street lights, no signs of life. It felt deserted and a bit unsettling, especially after a long day of travel. The nearest store or deli is 15–20 km away, so stock up on supplies beforehand or expect a significant drive for even the basics. The biggest issue we faced was with the host, Rachid. After booking for five adults, he cancelled our reservation and then rescheduled it for two people without consulting us. He then tried to charge us extra for the “additional” guests. When I informed him via text that we wouldn’t be staying the two planned nights due to the situation, he stopped responding altogether—and ultimately blocked my number. Overall, Villa Sara was not what we expected. Between the misleading listing, poor communication, and remote location, I cannot recommend this place to others. There are certainly better and more transparent options out there."

If you don't want to fall into this trap, choose this hotel carefully! On our first night, I messaged the hotel asking how to get there by boat but received no reply. We ended up taking a public ferry and then lugging our luggage across a bridge. For guests who aren't strong, it's best to confirm arrival methods in advance! The most outrageous part was being overcharged €48 upon checkout. They charged me for another room's bill (my room number ended in 0, theirs in 6). The signatures were completely different, but they didn't even check. It took ages, and they had an attitude like they were doing me a favor by finally letting me leave. Absolutely ridiculous!"

"I recently spent 9 nights at Orient Express Venezia, and by the time I left, it no longer felt like simply a hotel. It had become my home in Venice. I travel frequently and have stayed at many beautiful properties, but this was one of those rare experiences that stays with you long after returning home. Orient Express Venezia is housed within the historic Palazzo Dona Giovannelli, so during my stay, the hotel naturally became simply “the Palazzo” to me. Arriving by boat and seeing it rise from the canal was unforgettable. The building is breathtaking, but what struck me most was that it did not feel like a historic property that had merely been converted into a luxury hotel. Its history, architecture, and atmosphere remain present everywhere. You experience them in the grand staircase, frescoes, mosaics, carved fireplaces, stained glass, chandeliers, and extraordinary sequence of suites and grand rooms on the 2nd floor. The restoration and interiors by the architect Aline Asmar d’Amman are remarkable. The design respects the many historical layers of the Palazzo while introducing contemporary comfort with enormous sensitivity. Nothing feels generic, overly polished, or disconnected from Venice. Even after 9 nights, I continued discovering architectural details and rooms that I had not fully noticed before. I was incredibly fortunate to stay in a junior corner suite along the canal with original Hayez frescoes. Waking up beneath them every morning was surreal. The room was beautiful and deeply atmospheric while still being exceptionally comfortable and functional for a longer stay. The marble bathroom was spacious and luxurious, and the craftsmanship throughout the room was extraordinary. It felt less like occupying a hotel room and more like being entrusted with a small part of the Palazzo. The public spaces are equally memorable. I especially loved spending time in the salons and reading room, which felt intimate and peaceful even within such grand surroundings. I could sit with a book or have a drink and continually notice something new in the ceilings, artwork, textiles, or architectural details. In the evenings, the Palazzo took on an entirely different atmosphere. Returning after walking through Venice, settling into one of the salons, and hearing the water outside became one of my favorite parts of each day. Breakfast was also a daily pleasure. The setting, including the beautiful garden courtyard, made it feel like an experience each morning. The food was excellent, beautifully presented, and accompanied by genuinely attentive service. Having breakfast outside in such peaceful surroundings was a wonderful way to begin a day in Venice. The Cannaregio location was ideal for me. It offers a quieter and more authentic experience away from the heaviest crowds around San Marco while still allowing easy access to the rest of the city by foot or boat. After spending the day exploring, I was always relieved to return to this calmer part of V"

"This hotel is too far from the beautiful Doge's Palace area; it takes at least half an hour to get there from the hotel, which is quite a walk. It's impossible to go from one end of the seaside to the other and come back to rest in between during the day. Taking a water bus costs upwards of 9.5 euros, which isn't worth it. I suspect the hotel management is boosting their ratings on Ctrip because the rooms assigned to our group of Chinese guests were either tucked away in the back, next to the linen storage room, or on the first floor. In any case, we couldn't get a peaceful night's sleep, and the noise started promptly at 6 AM. The shower head was broken, so only the overhead shower worked, and the room had a somewhat dark ambiance. Breakfast was decent, though."

"Friendly Staff and Great Tips for Visiting Venice We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Centrale. What really made the experience special was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They kindly explained to us the easiest way to visit Venice without driving into the city. Instead of driving and paying expensive parking fees in Venice (which can be at least €25 or more), they suggested taking Bus 7 or 7E, which goes directly to Venice with the last stop near the main area. The journey only takes about 20 minutes, making it very convenient. They also recommended a nearby parking area costing around €12, which saved us quite a bit. The hotel itself is comfortable and practical. The room was a good size with everything we needed, including a nice hot shower after a long day of travel. Breakfast was good, and the hotel seems quite popular. There is also a little shop just next door so you can just buy whatever that you need. The surrounding town is simple, but the hotel’s location is very convenient for visiting Venice. We also appreciated that dogs are allowed, which made traveling with our pet much easier. Overall, the friendly service and helpful local advice made a big difference to our stay."

"in love with our stay, the nearest stop is rialto mercato, just 100 meter walk. Perfect location to visit the main attractions. you whether can use vaporetta (water bus) or walk to the attractions. They also managed to get us vegan breakfast on top of that, really appreciate this gesture. The communication is smooth. But the only downside is the did not have lift, luckily we get the lowest floor, but i guess nothing can be done because this is one of the oldest building."
