"I originally wanted to book the highly recommended Shiroyama Hotel, mainly to see the active volcano scenery in Kagoshima! But I booked too late. I saw that this art hotel was also said to offer good value for money. The only downside is that it's a bit far from Kagoshima-Chuo, so you'll need to take a taxi, otherwise, the bus ride takes over half an hour. The room with a view is indeed outstanding. However, the hotel is a bit old, and the facilities are a bit dated. Plus, there's no hot spring, and the only swimming pool is closed in winter. There's also an outdoor spa that requires advance booking and a swimsuit, which I unfortunately didn't bring, so I had to give it a miss. The front desk staff spoke good English. The only issue was that on weekends, breakfast was super crowded, and we had to queue for half an hour 😮💨. However, the breakfast spread was quite rich. Overall, it's not bad, especially suitable for those traveling by car."

"This was my first trip to Kagoshima, Kyushu, and your hotel's setting was absolutely stunning, offering distant views of Sakurajima volcano. The hot springs within the hotel also have excellent water quality, especially the open-air bath where you can gaze at Sakurajima. If the weather is good, you can even catch the sunrise around 5:30 AM, truly experiencing the majestic power of nature! The hotel's buffet breakfast lived up to its reputation and was definitely worth the price! Plus, there's a free shuttle bus service daily from Kagoshima-Chuo Station to the hotel. All in all, it's a high-quality hotel well worth staying at for anyone visiting Kagoshima."

"The hotel's location is excellent; you can reach it via an underground passage directly from Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It might be a bit tricky to find the first time, but you can also use the pedestrian bridge above ground. The hotel breakfast features many local specialties, highly recommended! There are convenience stores, Don Quijote, and various restaurants nearby, which is super convenient. I was also happy to see Sakurajima from my room! The only downside was that the room was quite dusty. I'm not sure if it was due to inadequate cleaning or if it's a common issue in Kagoshima itself. Also, there wasn't much in terms of service; both check-in and check-out were self-service."

"Good points: - Right in front of the Ohara-machi bus stop. - A-Coop (supermarket up to 1900) is within walking distance, making shopping convenient. There's a shared microwave in the inn, so you can buy food at the supermarket and eat it there. There's also a refrigerator in the room. - There's a large public bath and a sauna. - Shiratani Unsuikyo is a 30-minute bus ride away. - The hotel staff are friendly. Not-so-good points: - The noise from the plumbing in a nearby room was surprisingly loud, making it difficult to sleep. - The rental equipment is not well maintained. The equipment itself is old. While it seems to be an established inn and shows its age in many ways, I think the location is excellent. It might be good to leverage its age and perhaps even specialize in mountain-related features. However, the facilities need to be maintained."

But you can ask the hotel to help you book a sightseeing taxi. Everyone should try to avoid the rainy season in June. It rains every day, but we were lucky enough to have a sunny day.
