We checked in at the end of May. The hotel is in a relatively remote location, but it is no problem for self-driving tours. There are several parking spaces downstairs. There are many cats when you turn into the alley. You can see underground hot springs smoking along the way. The hotel also charges a hot spring tax when you check in. We took three hot spring baths and the whole place was reserved. The hot spring is very authentic and very large! I can feel that my muscles and bones are really relaxed and my skin is smooth after soaking. The towel should be taken down from the room. I forgot to bring it several times. There are also many sushi restaurants nearby. I ate at this authentic sushi restaurant. The eel rice was very delicious, even better than the famous one I had in Kyoto! The hotel is well managed, you can't see any other travelers, the staff are very kind and smiling, it's a very good experience. It takes less than half an hour to reach Omuroyama and Shiroki Coast.

This ryokan is very advertised. And it deserves it. At the average price for hotels of this type, you get a great dinner and breakfast in traditional Japanese style, a genuine atmosphere of historical and retro. The diagonal elevator is a separate beauty. The attitude is very friendly and warm. Very beautiful open-air onsen with a view of the city.

I recently stayed at Hotel Clad during my trip to the Fuji area, and it was a wonderful experience. The location is truly unbeatable—perched on a hilltop with breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji, especially at sunrise and sunset. Waking up to that iconic silhouette was absolutely unforgettable. The hotel itself strikes a perfect balance between modern comfort and serene simplicity. My room was clean, well-appointed, and designed with a minimalist aesthetic that made it feel both calming and functional. The large windows made the most of the surrounding nature, and I appreciated the attention to detail in both the amenities and layout. One of the highlights was the onsen. It was such a treat to relax in the hot spring baths while gazing out at Mt. Fuji—an experience that felt both peaceful and luxurious. The onsen facilities were clean, well-maintained, and never overly crowded. The hotel is also conveniently connected to the Gotemba Premium Outlets, making it easy to enjoy a bit of shopping or grab a bite without venturing far. Despite this proximity, the hotel maintains a very tranquil atmosphere, which I really appreciated. Overall, Hotel Clad is a perfect base for anyone looking to explore the Fuji area in comfort. Whether you’re there to hike, shop, or simply take in the views, it delivers a serene, scenic, and satisfying stay.

The room was long and narrow, oceanfront with an unbeatable sea view, perfect for watching the sunrise from inside. It was spotlessly clean, as per Japanese standards, though the bathroom was on the smaller side. The included dinner was fantastic, with varied dishes each of the two nights. The hotel has an ice machine, and you can borrow an ice bucket from the front desk. There's no outdoor onsen. Accessing the outdoors requires taking the elevator to the rooftop and walking from there. A beach is just a few hundred meters away, great for an evening stroll. Nearby convenience stores sold sparklers, which many young people were setting off on the beach. The hotel's shuttle bus requires advance booking, as it gets fully booked very quickly. A pick-up service is available from the JR station between 2 PM and 5 PM. If you miss this window, you'll need to take a taxi yourself (be aware of potential queues during peak hours). Walking from the JR station to the hotel is mostly downhill, but the return journey is uphill. Furthermore, the hotel's rooftop entrance can be a bit tricky to locate.

The location is great, just minutes from the JR station & bus stop! The hotel is clean & comfy, but the view? Totally unexpected & stunning! 😍 Sea views for days! 🌊 The onsen is 24/7 accessible, sup! 😎 Just a heads-up: no meals provided, but local restaurants are just a couple minutes away. 😋 #Onsen #Hotel #Travel #Vacation #View #Ocean #Japan

This hot spring hotel is fantastic. The staff at the front desk and restaurant speak fluent English. We booked two nights, allowing us to experience two different breakfasts and dinners. Dinner consisted of 11 courses, each with a detailed explanation. An hour flew by, and I took my time savoring it. In the evening, I soaked in nine different hot springs, completely washing away my fatigue. The hotel is within walking distance of the station, making it convenient for visiting several attractions. I highly recommend it!

With its high floors and large window, the best part of this hotel is its panoramic view of the city. May it be one of the tallest buildings in Shizuoka? Unlike those in Tokyo, room is big enough in this hotel. Decorations and equipments seemed to be a bit old-school but still nice to use. I liked the large tub a lot. BTW, the hotel is just in front of the station and a mall. So, it is super convenient for travelers.

CcometdebrisI stayed at Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace for 5 nights booking though Trip.com. Be warned that problems may occur when booking through travel websites such as this one. I booked a standard room with no meals. What I did not know however, was that this reservation did not include any room cleaning services for the entire stay, no taking of garbage or towel replacement, no bed making, nothing at all. When I contacted the travel website to show my disappointment, they immediately contacted the hotel requesting a full refund. I did not expect a full refund for my entire stay. What I did expect, was for someone to acknowledge the fact that this important piece of information should have been indicated someone on the online reservation confirmation. Neither the travel site nor the hotel would acknowledge this. The travel site replied with a response from the hotel, saying that I was a regular guest and knew about this “regulation”. It’s true, I have visited Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace on several occasions when housekeeping services were not included. However, this was clearly indicated on the reservation, and I stayed during the COVID STATE OF EMERGENCY, when it was standard practice for many hotels to exclude cleaning services. My recent stay was at the beginning of August, WHEN THE STATE OF EMERGENCY AND COVID RESTRICTIONS HAD BEEN LIFTED. It is no longer standard practice to exclude cleaning services at hotels in Japan. The hotel stated that I visited the front desk every day to get towels and never mentioned the need to clean the room. This is untrue. I only came to the front dest 2 times during my stay, and this is because room cleaning staff entered my room on 2 occasions, so I was expecting them to clean or take out the trash, but they did nothing and left. I expected them to return, however, they never did. The bottom line is the hotel is responsible for communicating their services to customers, especially after covid restrictions have been lifted. Blaming guests for their lack of communication is completely unprofessional. Now in regards to the hotel itself, I have stayed here on several occasions, I find it to be perfect, mainly because of the location and modest room size. The hotel is conveniently located near Lake Ippeki (Ippekiko) and there is plenty of nature and a few trails in the area. You can step out the door and be on a simple hiking trail within minutes. It’s a very quiet area and very good for children and families. Though the hotel is dated, the rooms are all quite large and include a living room, kitchen with cooking supplies and dishes (but no forks or spoons), a large bath, and both Western and Japanese style bedrooms. Some may be discouraged by the age of the hotel (it’s quite old and could use some renovation), but if you don’t mind that, then I would highly recommend staying here. One point that I need to mention is in regards to the bedrooms. The hotel has replaced their blackout curtains with super thin curtains which allow sunlight to easily shine through. We were woken up at 5:00 am every morning because of the bright sunlight in our room. If you’re a light sleeper, please take note. I wish management would consider this. Also, it’s highly recommended that guests come by car, public transportation is very inconvenient in the area. Overall, Izu Ippeki Lake Lakeside Terrace is a very convenient place for a reasonable price. I will definitely be staying here again in the future, but hope that they act with a little more professionalism and consider the fact that the covid state of emergency ended long ago.

__WeChat366053****The small house is nestled in the mountains not far from Izu-Okawa Station. It's a classic Japanese-style room, with greenery visible from the window, inviting the mountain into the room, and the moonlit nights. The chirping of insects and the white noise of the water are soothing, and I headed upstairs with a warm bath, where I had the best sleep I've had in ages. The staff was very attentive and gentle, helping with transportation, pouring drinks, and making breakfast. Sitting in the room with iced green tea, gazing out the window, my heart calmed. After tire of the crowds at Asakusa's attractions, I came to Izu to see the mountains and the sea. I was so happy to stay here. The room was clean, the decor was fresh, and the hot pool was warm. If you're not driving, you really need to plan your time well, as train schedules can be unpredictable, and getting to and from all the attractions requires advance planning. If you haven't already ordered food, it's also worth buying it beforehand, otherwise it'll be a bit inconvenient.

GGuest UserWe recently stayed at this charming new hotel conveniently located just a short walk from the heart of the city, and it turned out to be one of the most pleasant surprises of our trip. One of the things we appreciated most was the value for money — the room rates were very reasonable, especially considering the location and what was included. If you're driving, parking is no issue at all. There’s a parking area right behind the hotel, and the front desk offers discount coupons to help reduce the cost — a small touch that goes a long way. What made this hotel especially ideal for us was how easy it was to explore the city on foot. From the hotel, we walked to the Musical Instrument Museum and visited several other nearby attractions without needing to move the car. After a half day of exploring, we simply drove about 10 minutes to reach Yamaha Innovation Road, which was another highlight of our trip. While the hotel is on the smaller side, it never felt cramped. In fact, it gave off a cozy, boutique vibe that made our stay feel personal and welcoming. The breakfast was simple but satisfying, and their signature dish — the grilled eel fried rice — was absolutely delicious. It’s a must-try if you’re staying here! The hotel also provides thoughtful amenities, including yukata robes, quality shampoo and soap, and even a humidifier in the room — perfect for keeping the air comfortable during dry seasons. Throughout our stay, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They were attentive, warm, and always ready to help with a smile. Whether it was providing local recommendations or helping with parking, their service truly stood out. All in all, this hotel offered a blend of convenience, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality. If you're visiting the area and want a peaceful base with easy access to city attractions, excellent service, and that rare feeling of being genuinely welcomed — this is the place. We’d gladly stay here again.

HHAN SENGHotel New Akao is a huge hotel. It was built quite many many years ago, we stayed at the older wing, so the room tends to be oldish, but well maintained and super clean. For the price we paid, one would expect 5 star facilities, at least a gym for morning workouts, but they did not have that. However, the meals (Dinner & breakfast) provided with the price is fantastic and wide spread. I guess its a onsen hotel so people tend to go there just for the hotel onsen which is great and nice. We do love the big buffet spread of meals. The room is old, if you prefer the rustic feel. There are no convenient store nearby so when it comes to hunger, you only have vending machine beer. We actually expected to have free flow of snacks and beer but it is only limited to very off peak timing when most people are out for their day trips. Again, we feel that the hefty price tag should at least provide that free beer, drinks and snacks all day and all night. Overall, we still love the experience staying in the hotel. A word of advice - avoid peak seasons like New Year, you will expect to queue up for meals :)

GGuest UserThe hotel is located in the mountains near Shuzenji Temple. We originally booked this hotel expecting a beautiful view, but the waiter actually gave us a room facing the staff entrance. Not only did we not have a window view, but as soon as we opened the curtains, we could see the staff coming in and out and the garbage trucks, which really affected our mood. The hygiene in the hot spring dressing room was also worrying. The wall near the exhaust fan was obviously dusty and dirty. The hygiene of this hotel was not very good. 😑 There was hair left by someone on the bedside in the room. Sigh😑, I have to give a bad review.

JJianiMishima is a bit of an undiscovered gem, isn't it? 😆 I stayed for three nights and it was incredibly comfortable. I highly recommend it for those who enjoy slow-paced, independent travel. It's a charming town nestled at the foot of Mount Fuji, where melted snow flows into the picturesque Genbei River. Mishima makes an excellent base camp for exploring destinations like Izu Kogen, Mount Omuro, the Cactus Park, Hakone, Owakudani, the Hakone Pirate Ship, and even Lake Kawaguchiko for Mount Fuji views. What's more, accessing Atami Station by car/train from here is also very convenient. Now, about the hotel itself. The rooftop onsen (hot spring bath) is definitely a major plus! It was incredibly clean and comfortable, and never crowded. Whether you go for a morning soak or an evening dip to unwind, the views are absolutely stunning 🌟 Breakfast was also fantastic, as you can see from the photos I've included! 😁 The service was superb, and I was pleasantly surprised to find a washing machine available – a combined washer-dryer for just 500 yen for 120 minutes! That was a huge bonus 🥳 If possible, try to book their largest room type. We couldn't get a corner room, so we ended up with a 27 sq m room, which wasn't huge. However, all the other aspects of our stay were so delightful and comfortable 😍

SShih Yuin ChewTo my regret, should have booked ALL my nights in Shizuoka with this place. Because of some of the negative reviews online, I was sceptical and worried thus didn’t wanna put all eggs in one basket. But the worry was totally unnecessary. Given the price, a fair comparison should be a dormitory styled hostel, and this place far exceeds any of the capsule hotels/dorm hostels I’ve been to (I’ve booked around 50 in Japan by now). First, it has its own room and bed, privacy +1. Second, it has its own large locker in the room (not as large as the largest suitcase, but more than enough to keep valuables and clothes), convenience +1. Third, COMFY bed with incredibly thick foam support and super-single kinda width, sleep quality +1. Fourth, the shower room area is ultra spacious and brightly illuminated, with close to 10 counters (and chairs), you can take your time taking care of your hygiene and facial breakouts at your own pace. Fifth, it has a partner cafe (hug coffee) two doors next to it and the breakfast and/or drink coupons it offers could save you quite some money compared to walk in yourself. The list could go on when you compare it to other hostels in the town (instead of hotels in another price range) Given, the door of the room cannot be locked, and there could be a chance of hearing noise from other rooms, but these are common issues across all hostel settings, and it’s more of the travellers issue than the place. So overall, I must say this is a place of very high value. I’ll almost always stay in this place if I’m to pass by Shizuoka again in the future.

MM250030****Seeing that it was a new hotel with a good price, I booked a room. It was very convenient to find the hotel. I took the free shuttle bus from the outlet and got off at the first stop, Tomei Gotemba, and walked for a few minutes to get there, which was very convenient. The hotel is great! The receptionist is very enthusiastic and can use Chinese and English, so everything from check-in to problem solving was very smooth. The room is large and equipped with a safe and microwave, which is very convenient. The best thing is that the room can be soaked in hot springs, which is extremely comfortable. Be sure to buy breakfast when you check in, it's worth it, you can eat until you lean on the wall! In short, it's great!
