Overall, the hotel was pretty good, and the view from the cabin window was a major highlight! We checked in around 8 or 9 PM, so we didn't see the lake view initially, but opening the window the next morning to see the sunrise was absolutely stunning.
I felt that some of the facilities were a bit old, especially the bathroom and kitchen. Parking is available, but it's first-come, first-served, and can be a bit tight.
We chose the Hilton again for our trip to Queenstown, New Zealand. While it's not right in the town center, transportation is super convenient. The hotel has its own water taxi that goes to and from the center daily. The first boat leaves at 8:15 AM, and then it's hourly after that. It costs 14 NZD per person and takes about 25 minutes. The last return trip is at 9:45 PM, and there's a timetable available at the front desk. The hotel is also only a ten-minute drive from the airport.
The hotel's setting and views are absolutely beautiful, right on the lake. You can take a lovely stroll along the lakeside in the mornings, and the restaurant is right there, so you can enjoy the lake view while you eat. The hotel has a Western restaurant, a bar and restaurant, and a coffee shop. The breakfast buffet is served in the Western restaurant and opens at 6 AM, which is great for guests who want to get an early start on their sightseeing. The food selection is comprehensive and tasty too! We had dinner at the Western restaurant on our first night and it was excellent, the steak was fantastic! The bar and restaurant is also good; on our last day, we got back late from our Milford Sound tour and just ordered pizza and beer at the bar. The pizza was absolutely delicious! The bar atmosphere was great too!
We booked a lake view king room, and the layout was nice, with full amenities. The hotel also has a pool, and the gym is open 24 hours. All in all, our stay and dining experience were very comfortable! Highly recommended!
Wanaka itself isn't a big place, and Haka is considered one of the higher-quality hostels, plus it's very close to the town center. Even during holidays, the cleanliness is consistently good. Unlike the Haka in Queenstown, perhaps because there's more space here, the accommodations are individual buildings, whereas in Queenstown, the entire second floor is dorm rooms. However, there's a gravel path leading up to this Haka, which will definitely test your suitcase wheels! Overall, it's pretty good. You can walk right out to stargaze at night and then quickly hop back into bed.
Very convenient location, located just 2 bus stops away from Queenstown Airport, and the bus stop located just outside the hotel. The room was spacious and the toilet was also clean. There was also a water cooler on the first level which was convenient for refilling water, and they had different complimentary hot teas served at the hotel lobby everyday which was a nice treat in the cold weather.
I had a great experience at Scenic Hotel. During check-in, the male staff member was extremely friendly and helpful. He gave me lots of useful information about the area, including the best places to eat, where to park, and tips for seeing the penguins. His local knowledge really helped make our trip easier and more enjoyable.
The next morning, after coming back late from travelling, I asked the reception if I could check out 15–20 minutes later. The staff member on morning reception was very cool, understanding, and friendly. She happily allowed the late checkout with no issues at all.
Overall, both staff members provided excellent service, and I really appreciated their kindness and helpful attitude. Highly recommend this hotel for both comfort and outstanding customer service!
Unfortunately, my stay was not very comfortable. The soundproofing is very poor, and there is a nightclub nearby that plays very loud music late into the night, making it difficult to sleep. For those who drive, can park on the roadside across the street for free after 6pm. In addition, the shower water pressure was very low, which was disappointing.
The front desk staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room itself didn't have a private bathroom or toilet, but the shared facilities were conveniently located right outside the door and kept quite clean. There's also a communal kitchen with plenty of pots and pans available. The location is a bit out of the way, about 1 kilometer from the lake and supermarket, which is a bit much for a room costing over 800 per night. Overall, it's decent.
The hotel was great however for the size and experience they are aiming for and the reputation of being operated by the Hilton, the internet speed is subpar and was below my expectations. A speed test returned speeds of 0.03mbps which is not enough for web browsing. I would have hoped for better internet connection given the price and premium segment this hotel competes in.
The hotel environment is quite good. Each room comes with a dedicated parking space, which is great for families. The rooms are spacious, clean, and tidy. The kitchen equipment is limited and quite basic. I highly recommend the breakfast place right outside the hotel, Pembroke Pâtisserie – it's absolutely delicious!
Amazing spot, really was beautiful. Answered low for amenities and service as it is a low touch location so not needed. The comms I had with staff was great however

Very Good
GGuest UserThe hotel is quite large with many rooms. I booked a twin room, and it was spacious with two comfortable and clean queen-sized beds. My room was on the third floor, at the corner, offering only a partial view of the lake. There were no kitchen facilities, so cooking wasn't an option. The hotel's location is excellent, right by the lake. It's about a 10-minute walk to Queenstown's center and its attractions. The staff were friendly and helpful. There's a car park, but parking comes with a fee. Breakfast is also an extra charge, but the quality was decent.
NNigulasizhaosiayoLocated on the outskirts of Queenstown, it's about a 15-minute drive to the town center. There's a McDonald's nearby. The front desk has Chinese-speaking staff who are all very friendly. The room was spacious and the sanitary facilities were great.
GGuest UserClean and comfy bed, but expensive stay for what was effectively a shed… it often felt that there were not enough toilets, with long queues for the bathrooms on all floors in the morning and at night.
AAyuxiaorankanshijieThis hotel is located right in the center of Queenstown, very close to a supermarket and an Asian grocery store. It's super convenient for shopping, dining, or getting anywhere. The room, although small, was clean and tidy. The only downside is the lack of a fridge or microwave, but considering the value for money, you can't really ask for more. Finally, regarding room cleaning, they only clean if you specifically ask at the front desk downstairs. Otherwise, no one will come to clean your room no matter how long you stay. I hope they can improve the overall guest experience.
KKhoThe place is spacious and the location is excellent. It is right next to the main road. After watching the little penguins, you can buy fast food nearby before returning to the hostel. The room is spacious and there are staff on duty at night. You can park at the door, which is very convenient
HHuobatuThe hotel environment is particularly good, the proprietress is a Chinese sister, especially good, give me milk, it is very quiet, and very close to the scenic spot, there is a McDonald's and gas station ten meters away, there is a fish and chips 100 meters away, and the Chinese are also delicious but not friendly. In short, the hotel is very clean, the location is good, convenient and fast, parking is very convenient
이이진희We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs.
As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.
Ffatt1234The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, and the surroundings were quiet. It's conveniently located near the airport, and the staff were very friendly. The room also had an induction hob and basic cooking utensils, which was handy for preparing simple meals. Compared to other hotels, the price was quite reasonable.

DDracarys121212This is my first time staying at a hostel as I always stay in hotels when I travel but NZ is way out of my budget to get a hotel for 8 days of stay. I am surprised that there is free basic spices if you opt to cook and you should to save money and they also have free spread for your sandwiches you can use and free coffee. Free bodywash by the hostel and you can also use the conditioner and other shampoos that other guests left when they check-out for fr e. They also have charger you can borrow. The 4square grocery is very close like 2-3 min walking distance and other restaurants. I have 8 days so I am staying here in Haka house Queenstown, the on in mount cook ( which doesn’t have all these free spices and I think because how far grocery store is) and my last remaining days I will try Haka by the lake front. I don’t have hostel pics so sharing with you my view from Queenstown Hill viewpoint.
